Book Synopsis Under GOD Construction by : ShaQuenna Arrington
Download or read book Under GOD Construction written by ShaQuenna Arrington and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2012-07-20 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There's a spiritual war going on but we better fight! People are in need of deliverance. This war has some strongholds and many people are crying out for strength, help and peace along the way. The difference between deliverance and spiritual warfare is that deliverance is dealing with demonic bondages, and getting a person set free, whereas spiritual warfare is resisting, overcoming and defeating the enemy's lies (in the form of deception, temptations and accusations) that the Devil sends our way. There are wars in the homes, on the jobs, in the schools and inside the church. People are tangled up and caught up inside of spiritual war-fares. Our intention as Dignitaries of Holiness is to expose the false; while promoting the truth. There is an identity crisis in the churches spreading abroad throughout the body of Christ. Many people are claiming to have a Christian lifestyle, but live a life governed by the flesh.
Book Synopsis God at Work by : Gene Edward Veith Jr.
Download or read book God at Work written by Gene Edward Veith Jr. and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2011-08-02 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When you understand it properly, the doctrine of vocation—"doing everything for God's glory"—is not a platitude or an outdated notion. This principle that we vaguely apply to our lives and our work is actually the key to Christian ethics, to influencing our culture for Christ, and to infusing our ordinary, everyday lives with the presence of God. For when we realize that the "mundane" activities that consume most of our time are "God's hiding places," our perspective changes. Culture expert Gene Veith unpacks the biblical, Reformation teaching about the doctrine of vocation, emphasizing not what we should specifically do with our time or what careers we are called to, but what God does in and through our callings—even within the home. In each task He has given us—in our workplaces and families, our churches and society—God Himself is at work. Veith guides you to discover God's purpose and calling in those seemingly ordinary areas by providing you with a spiritual framework for thinking about such issues and for acting upon them with a changed perspective.
Book Synopsis God in My Everything by : Ken Shigematsu
Download or read book God in My Everything written by Ken Shigematsu and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2013-08-06 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ken Shigematsu shows that spiritual formation is more than just solitude and contemplative reflections. Spiritual formation happens in the everyday, in each and every moment of life. For those caught up in the busyness of work, family, and church, it often feels like time with God is just another thing on a crowded “to-do’ list. Ken explains how the time-tested spiritual practice of the “rule of life” can help bring busy people into a closer relationship with God. He shows how a personal rule of life can fit almost any vocation or life situation. In God in My Everything, you will discover how to create and practice a life-giving, sustainable rhythm in the midst of your demanding life. If you long for a deeper spirituality but often feel that the busyness of life makes a close relationship with God challenging—and, at times, seemingly impossible—this book is for you.

Download or read book Ephesians written by Mark D. Roberts and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2016-11-29 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new commentary for today's world, The Story of God Bible Commentary explains and illuminates each passage of Scripture in light of the Bible's grand story. The first commentary series to do so, SGBC offers a clear and compelling exposition of biblical texts, guiding everyday readers in how to creatively and faithfully live out the Bible in their own contexts. Its story-centric approach is ideal for pastors, students, Sunday school teachers, and laypeople alike. Each volume employs three main, easy-to-use sections designed to help readers live out God's story: LISTEN to the Story: Includes complete NIV text with references to other texts at work in each passage, encouraging the reader to hear it within the Bible's grand story. EXPLAIN the Story: Explores and illuminates each text as embedded in its canonical and historical setting. LIVE the Story: Reflects on how each text can be lived today and includes contemporary stories and illustrations to aid preachers, teachers, and students. —Ephesians— Like all of Paul's letters, Ephesians is centered in the gospel and its implications. It tells the story of what God has done in Christ and spells out the ethical implications of this story. But the letter to the Ephesians is unique among Paul's letters in many ways, including in how it tells of the story of God, beginning "before the creation of the world" and ending in eternity. Edited by Scot McKnight and Tremper Longman III, and written by a number of top-notch theologians, The Story of God Bible Commentary series will bring relevant, balanced, and clear-minded theological insight to any biblical education or ministry.

Book Synopsis Between Dream Houses and "God's Own Junkyard": Architecture and the Built Environment in American Suburban Fiction by : Stefanie Strebel
Download or read book Between Dream Houses and "God's Own Junkyard": Architecture and the Built Environment in American Suburban Fiction written by Stefanie Strebel and published by Narr Francke Attempto Verlag. This book was released on 2021-06-28 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The American suburb is a space dominated by architectural mass production, sprawl, as well as a monotonous aesthetic eclecticism, and many critics argue that it has developed from a postwar utopia into a disorienting environment with which it is difficult to identify. The typical suburb has come to display characteristics of an atopia, that is, a space without borders or even a non-place, a generic space of transience. Dealing with the representation of architecture and the built environment in suburban literature and film from the 1920s until present, this study demonstrates that in its fictional representations, too, suburbia has largely turned into a place of non-architecture. A lack of architectural ethos and an abundance of "Junkspace" define suburban narratives, causing an increasing sense of disorientation and entropy in fictional characters.

Book Synopsis The Seven Spirits of God -- Building According to the Pattern of the Kingdom by : J. Scott Husted
Download or read book The Seven Spirits of God -- Building According to the Pattern of the Kingdom written by J. Scott Husted and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-10-28 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work represents the rediscovery of an ancient pattern that God has given to his people in order to build His Kingdom on earth. This pattern can be found throughout the Bible. The scripture shows that the Hebrew writers of Old and New Testaments thought, wrote, and lived according to this pattern. We can see that they considered this pattern as foundational to planting, building and living out God's Kingdom here on Earth. As we recognize the pattern of the Kingdom and begin to understand its elements, we can begin to use it to structure every effort pertaining to the Kingdom of God. Indeed, the scripture urges us: "Build everything according to the Pattern that I (God) have shown you." Once recognized as God's intended pattern of the Kingdom, this pattern is applicable and necessary to every part of Godly worship, service and life today. In fact, as we implement our ministry, work and life according to God's plan, we begin to see that God's plan is the only way to build His Kingdom in the Earth.
Book Synopsis Michelangelo, God's Architect by : William E. Wallace
Download or read book Michelangelo, God's Architect written by William E. Wallace and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2021-04-06 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "As he entered his seventies, the great Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo despaired that his productive years were past. Anguished by the death of friends and discouraged by the loss of commissions to younger artists, this supreme painter and sculptor began carving his own tomb. It was at this unlikely moment that fate intervened to task Michelangelo with the most ambitious and daunting project of his long creative life. 'Michelangelo, God's Architect' is the first book to tell the full story of Michelangelo's final two decades, when the peerless artist refashioned himself into the master architect of St. Peter's Basilica and other major buildings. When the Pope handed Michelangelo control of the St. Peter's project in 1546, it was a study in architectural mismanagement, plagued by flawed design and faulty engineering. Assessing the situation with his uncompromising eye and razor-sharp intellect, Michelangelo overcame the furious resistance of Church officials to persuade the Pope that it was time to start over. In this richly illustrated book, leading Michelangelo expert William Wallace sheds new light on this least familiar part of Michelangelo's biography, revealing a creative genius who was also a skilled engineer and enterprising businessman. The challenge of building St. Peter's deepened Michelangelo's faith, Wallace shows. Fighting the intrigues of Church politics and his own declining health, Michelangelo became convinced that he was destined to build the largest and most magnificent church ever conceived. And he was determined to live long enough that no other architect could alter his design."--Provided by publisher.
