En plus des propriétés classiques des géométries considérées, l'ouvrage en présente d'autres, moins usuelles à ce niveau, comme le paradoxe de Hausdorff-Banach-Tarski. Pour rendre son utilisation plus agréable, le texte est accompagné de nombreux tableaux et figures, les commentaires sont abondants, parfois sous forme de considérations heuristiques ou d'aperçus historiques. Les démonstrations sont rédigées en détail, de même que les énoncés de nombreux exercices destinés aux étudiants.
