I) accompanying this 'report is only slightly modified from one previously published which was prepared by P. E. Wright and the writer. On the detailed geologic maps (pl. V, p. 30, and pi. XV, in pocket) the boundaries Of the rock formations, where actually Observed in the field, are indicated by solid lines; where only inferred, by broken lines. As outcrops are exceedingly scant in this moss-covered and timber-covered area, the distribution of the formations as indicated on the maps is in large measure only approximately accurate. If a contact between two formations is important in the search for ore bodies its exact position should be determined on the ground by stripping before extensive mining operations are begun. This report includes a number Of maps Of mining properties and mine workings which have been furnished by the operators, the geology having been added by the writer.
