This book was released on 2011 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: State Departments of Transportation, including the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), have long been moving towards the development and implementation of pavement management systems that would enable monitoring of the performance of their roadways, as well as assist transportation officials with maintenance budget allocation and planning decisions. This report presents a new approach to the development of such a decision-support system with its focus on maintenance management for TxDOT. The new system is web-based and provides functional capabilities that allow transportation officials and engineers to make informed decisions regarding their budget planning and budget allocation for pavement maintenance management, fully utilizing available historical data. The developed system has successfully supported some of the TxDOT Districts in the development of their 4-year pavement management plans. In addition, pavement conditions in Texas were analyzed in terms of the effectiveness of the 4-year pavement management plans.

Download or read book Springer Handbook of Geographic Information written by Wolfgang Kresse and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-10-31 with total page 1132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer science provides a powerful tool that was virtually unknown three generations ago. Some of the classical fields of knowledge are geodesy (surveying), cartography, and geography. Electronics have revolutionized geodetic methods. Cartography has faced the dominance of the computer that results in simplified cartographic products. All three fields make use of basic components such as the Internet and databases. The Springer Handbook of Geographic Information is organized in three parts, Basics, Geographic Information and Applications. Some parts of the basics belong to the larger field of computer science. However, the reader gets a comprehensive view on geographic information because the topics selected from computer science have a close relation to geographic information. The Springer Handbook of Geographic Information is written for scientists at universities and industry as well as advanced and PhD students.

Download or read book Pavement Management Systems -- State of the Art written by SN. Amirkhanian and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The condition of the highway network in the United States is deteriorating rapidly. Maintenance and rehabilitation are becoming increasingly important. With an approximately 4 million mile highway network in place, and limited funds available for its maintenance, pavement management is assuming a significant role in the activities of America's highway agencies. This paper traces the history, development, and implementation of pavement management systems (PMS) through the past two decades. The results of a survey assessing the impact of the FHWA ruling requiring all state agencies to implement PMS by 1993 are presented. Applications for geographic information systems, knowledge based expert systems, and voice recognition systems in pavement management are discussed.

Book Synopsis Sustainable Pavements and Road Materials : Proceedings of the 7th SIIV Arena, Naples, Italy 9th September 2022 by : Francesco Abbondati
Download or read book Sustainable Pavements and Road Materials : Proceedings of the 7th SIIV Arena, Naples, Italy 9th September 2022 written by Francesco Abbondati and published by FedOA - Federico II University Press. This book was released on 2022-09-08 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. [English]: The SIIV Arena is a space for discussion in which PhD students and young scholars from various universities illustrate their research on topics of specific interest for the Scientific Disciplinary Sector ICAR/04 “Roads, Railways and Airports”. This volume collects the proceedings of the 7th SIIV Arena, held in Naples on 9 September 2022, and held as part of the XVIII International SIIV Summer School: "Sustainable Pavements and Road Materials". The use of construction and maintenance technologies based on principles of sustainability, resilience and circular economy, are a reference, in synergy with the use of secondary raw materials, for achieving adequate mechanical performance for the road structure, with a reduced environmental impact. and costs. The growth gradient recorded in the field of civil infrastructures has defined an incessant use of natural resources with consequent negative effects in terms of environmental sustainability. The reuse of waste in mix design processes and the use of in situ processing systems and/or "low energy" technologies (i.e., cold and/or warm asphalt mixtures) fully meet the objectives underlying the principles of the circular economy. This volume aims to collect the most innovative research in the sector presented in the context of the 7th SIIV Arena by analyzing aspects relating to the design, construction and maintenance of the pavement and road infrastructure as a whole.
