Download or read book Liquid Sloshing Dynamics written by Raouf A. Ibrahim and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2005-05-19 with total page 986 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of liquid sloshing in moving or stationary containers remains of great concern to aerospace, civil, and nuclear engineers; physicists; designers of road tankers and ship tankers; and mathematicians. Beginning with the fundamentals of liquid sloshing theory, this book takes the reader systematically from basic theory to advanced analytical and experimental results in a self-contained and coherent format. The book is divided into four sections. Part I deals with the theory of linear liquid sloshing dynamics; Part II addresses the nonlinear theory of liquid sloshing dynamics, Faraday waves, and sloshing impacts; Part III presents the problem of linear and nonlinear interaction of liquid sloshing dynamics with elastic containers and supported structures; and Part IV considers the fluid dynamics in spinning containers and microgravity sloshing. This book will be invaluable to researchers and graduate students in mechanical and aeronautical engineering, designers of liquid containers, and applied mathematicians.

This book was released on 1976 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report documents some techniques used in deriving the equations of motion of a missile for a six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulation. Several forms of the equations are developed, and their implementation is discussed. Specific emphasis is placed on showing the interrelation of the equation forms currently in use by showing their development from the basic laws. This report is meant to serve as a primer for new engineers and as a reference for all engineers involved in missile flight simulation.
Book Synopsis Dynamic Equations for Missile Stability Analysis by : J. L. HIEATT
Download or read book Dynamic Equations for Missile Stability Analysis written by J. L. HIEATT and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report develops a method of presenting missile dynamics such that the equations may be easily adapted to any missile system configuration. Standardization of the missile dynamic equations is accomplished by combining the effects of propellant sloshing, flexible vehicle structure, and engine dynamics in a set of orthogonal coordinates. This approach is termed 'combined mode representation'. The theory of combined mode representation is presented in general terms. The complete missile system dynamic equations are then derived using this representation. The derivation of the equations for obtaining the combined mode coordinates is followed by a description of the computer routine used to solve these equations. Finally an example control system problem is written in terms of combined modes. (Author).

Book Synopsis Dynamics and Simulation of Flexible Rockets by : Timothy M. Barrows
Download or read book Dynamics and Simulation of Flexible Rockets written by Timothy M. Barrows and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamics and Simulation of Flexible Rockets provides a full state, multiaxis treatment of launch vehicle flight mechanics and provides the state equations in a format that can be readily coded into a simulation environment. Various forms of the mass matrix for the vehicle dynamics are presented. The book also discusses important forms of coupling, such as between the nozzle motions and the flexible body. This book is designed to help practicing aerospace engineers create simulations that can accurately verify that a space launch vehicle will successfully perform its mission. Much of the open literature on rocket dynamics is based on analysis techniques developed during the Apollo program of the 1960s. Since that time, large-scale computational analysis techniques and improved methods for generating Finite Element Models (FEMs) have been developed. The art of the problem is to combine the FEM with dynamic models of separate elements such as sloshing fuel and moveable engine nozzles. The pitfalls that may occur when making this marriage are examined in detail. Covers everything the dynamics and control engineer needs to analyze or improve the design of flexible launch vehicles Provides derivations using Lagrange’s equation and Newton/Euler approaches, allowing the reader to assess the importance of nonlinear terms Details the development of linear models and introduces frequency-domain stability analysis techniques Presents practical methods for transitioning between finite element models, incorporating actuator dynamics, and developing a preliminary flight control design

Book Synopsis Practical Design of Flight Control Systems for Launch Vehicles and Missiles by : N.V. Kadam
Download or read book Practical Design of Flight Control Systems for Launch Vehicles and Missiles written by N.V. Kadam and published by Allied Publishers. This book was released on 2009-06-15 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives in a concise and easy to understand form the various aspects of Practical Design of Flight Control Systems for Launch Vehicles and Missiles. It covers almost every aspect of Flight Control System Design which a designer would like to know, such as mission considerations, control requirements for various segments of the flight trajectory and different types of control effectors. It further gives generalized equations of motion with a novel method of incorporating structural flexibility and propellant sloshing which does not require rederivation, and very easy and common sense approach to deriving slosh and gimballed engine dynamic equations. Subsequently it gives the control system configurations, power plant sizing, loop design for linearised system and detailed analysis and design of on-off reaction control systems. It also covers various software features which are necessary for actual implementation of the design in flight missions, robustness features to avoid malfunctioning in some circumstances, design validation aspects including end-to-end sign checks and describes some flight experiences which called for design updates. The book is unique for its strong practical flavour and is directly useful to the working engineers in the field and post graduate students in Aerospace Engineering.
Book Synopsis IN-FLIGHT DYNAMICS OF A FLEXIBLE MISSILE. by : H. E. Lindberg
Download or read book IN-FLIGHT DYNAMICS OF A FLEXIBLE MISSILE. written by H. E. Lindberg and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Equations are derived for the motion of a missile in a plane, including bending, sloshing, engine swiveling, axial acceleration, and aerodynamics. The bending and sloshing are treated by means of combined bending-sloshing modes in which the first slosh mode in each tank is represented by an equivalent lateral spring-mass system. Also included are equations for the moment and shear in the missile expressed in terms of a psuedo-static moment and shear plus correction terms which account for the dynamic over-shoot of the bending-sloshing modes.
