Come ben sa chi si occupa di questioni storiografiche, nessuna narrazione può definirsi neutra, nessun interrogativo può considerarsi libero da condizionamenti culturali, provenendo essi dalle necessità e dalle prospettive del nostro presente. Il modo più semplice e nello stesso tempo efficace per illustrare questa realtà è sottolineare la data in cui questo dizionario vede la luce: esso s'inserisce nel pieno di una occasione celebrativa ma al tempo stesso aspira all'opposto, ad essere, cioè, critico dell'evento commemorativo in senso stretto.

Belardi is no Luddite; he doesn't urge architects to give up digital devices for watercolors and a measuring tape. Rather, he makes a case for drawing as the interface between the idea and the work itself. A drawing, Belardi argues, holds within it the entire final design.
