Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gandhiji carved a philosophy which he nurtured and upheld throughout his life, only to be known later as Gandhian Philosophy. The three cardinals of Gandhian Philosophy – truth, love and non-violence – are so coherent, cohesive and co-focal that the absence of even one breaches the wholesomeness of the structure. However, all these elements ought to be understood across a much wider plane and in a much deeper sense beyond the threshold of their common meanings. The importance of the human factor in contemporary management can be seen in its finest form in Gandhian Management. Gandhiji’s humanitarian canvas was so global, and clarion call for natural justice so intense that he became an institution by himself much before the world discovered this reality.

The book goes on explain how Vedic management, through the concepts of dharma and yoga, encourage peace and concord through selflessness and cooperative behavior and the sacrifice of the ego, opinions and strongly held beliefs so as to harmonize with fellow human beings. The Upanishad system which interiorize Vedic through the yogic way of meditation and contemplation is also examined. The book goes on the to delineate the concept of dharmic management as applied to social concerns and the polity. This is through an examination of the dhramashastras and the two epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. The yogic system as elaborated by Lord Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita is studied to see its impact on managements. Book excerpt: This two-volume set examines the need for a consciousness-based view of leadership, which emphasizes universal human flourishing, as opposed to a resource-based view, which focuses on sustaining a competitive advantage. This approach is built around three main principles: 1) Paradigm (Consciousness is primary including complementary existence of opposites), 2) Interpersonal (focusing on empathy and compassion), and 3) Individual (experiencing Oneness and expressing creativity). Volume One is divided into three sections. The first section focuses on Consciousness-based approaches to Inclusive, Purposeful, Quantum, and Vedic leadership. The second section focuses on leadership principles from Vedic scriptures such as Ramayana and Vedanta. The third section includes leadership principles from other scriptures such as Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, and Thirukural. Aligning leadership practices with the notion of unbounded consciousness, this edited collection will extend the literature on organizational culture, leadership, and sustainability, contributing to solving the grand challenges facing humanity.

Over the last three decades, India’s rapid economic growth has helped to make it a leading economy of the world. The social and cultural setting of India is unique because of its diversity, large population, and social and economic stratification. India is a living culture of more than three thousand years that simultaneously embraces traditional and contemporary beliefs and practices. From world trade to climate change to democratization, India’s actions have a global impact. Reviewing management literature in the Indian context, this book attempts explaining and addressing the problems important to business and society. This book has three primary aims: to identify and describe the insights from traditional culture of India relevant to management, to report on the Indian institutional dynamics and its reflection on management and to present pedagogical initiatives that integrate the wisdom of Indian culture and tradition with contemporary management knowledge. In light of these objectives, this book will be relevant to management scholars, educators, and practitioners, particularly in the areas of organizational behavior, human resource management, strategic management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and international management.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Love him or loathe him; respect him or not; Mohandas Gandhi, known as the father of our nation, is a historical figure known very well to the international diaspora and always respected by even his staunchest opponents, including the mighty British Empire. For an individual who opposed an empire with nothing more than a humble yet firm voice and a walking stick, it is no surprise his statue stands grandly opposite the British Parliament in London. However, this book studies him in the light of various incidents and highlights the values that came out from them — and most importantly — how businesses can adapt the same. Often through his life, the “Mahatma” has come across as a salesman, a PR manager, A CEO, A HR Manager, a business leader and even devil’s advocate, thus showing his commitment to core human values while harnessing the necessary agility, flexibility and exemplary negotiation skills of a true leader. This book tries to study his life and link it to modern day business principles.
