Book excerpt: All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) was initiated in 2011 during which data for the year 2010-11 was collected. The survey was utmost necessary as none of the source of data on Higher education was giving complete picture of higher education in the country. Also, there were many important parameters on which data is required for policy making but either no data was available or incomplete data was available. For the first time all the major Stakeholders in Higher Education such as University Grants Commissions, All India Council for Technical Education, Medical Council of India as well as State Governments participated in the data collection exercise. The entire survey was conducted through electronic mode and a dedicated portal http://aishe.gov.in was developed for the purpose, thus making the exercise completely paperless. The survey covered all the Institutions in the country engaged in imparting the higher education. Data is being collected on several parameters such as teachers, student enrolment, programmes, examination results, education finance, infrastructure etc. Indicators of educational development such as Institution Density, Gross Enrolment Ratio, Pupil Teacher Ratio, Gender Parity Index etc. are calculated from the data collected through AISHE. These are useful in making informed policy decisions and research for development of education sector.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses European higher education policies and their three main drivers: the European Commission, the European Court of Justice and the building of the European Higher Education Area through the Bologna Process. Central to the volume is the issue of European institutions’ intervention in higher education: building a common area for higher education in a domain protected by subsidiarity is no easy task, and one that must consider the supra-national, national and institutional levels that all play a role in policy implementation. In this volume, the editors and contributors navigate within the tensions between the establishment of an internal market on the one hand and national sovereignty on the other. This volume will surely be of interest and value to those studying and working in the area of higher education policy and understanding relationships between European institutions and member states.

This book was released on 2020-12-09 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book adopts a rights-based approach to shed light on the different legal and policy instruments that have been developed to implement circular migration policies in the EU, and their consequences for the rights of migrant workers. It contributes to the understanding of the meaning of this concept in general and in the EU, as well as specifically regarding its Eastern neighborhood. The book provides a comprehensive picture of the formation and implementation of the EU’s circular migration approach that has developed through both EU and national instruments, on the basis of comparative case study analysis of Bulgaria and Poland’s migration laws and policies. By applying empirical legal research methods, it draws conclusions about the policy outcomes from the implementation of the various migration instruments falling under the circular migration umbrella and shows the consequences for the rights of migrant workers as a result of the application of different policy options. Along with its value to an academic audience, the book can be used by policy makers at the EU, international and national levels, as well as by international organisations and NGOs working in the field of migration law and policy.
