Book Synopsis From The Planck Scale To The Weak Scale: Toward A Theory Of The Universe - Proceedings Of The Theoretical Advanced Study Institute In Elementary Particle Physics (In 2 Volumes) by : Howard E Haber
Download or read book From The Planck Scale To The Weak Scale: Toward A Theory Of The Universe - Proceedings Of The Theoretical Advanced Study Institute In Elementary Particle Physics (In 2 Volumes) written by Howard E Haber and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1987-10-31 with total page 981 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The attempt to understand the nature of particle physics at the weak scale is the major goal of the current generation of collider facilities. Theorists attempt to stretch their theories to the Planck scale and beyond with the very ambitious theory of superstrings. Particle physics at all energy scales has important implications for the theory of the Early Universe. Lectures on Standard Model, Grand Unification and Supersymmetry and the present status of string and superstring theory are given by both theorists and experimentalists in a complete and pedagogical manner. Finally, lectures notes on the Early Universe, galaxy formation, and high energy colliders are directed specifically at particle physicists.

Book Synopsis The Planck Scale by : Jerzy Kowalsky-Glikman
Download or read book The Planck Scale written by Jerzy Kowalsky-Glikman and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2009-12-21 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of quantum gravity is hoped to solve, when constructed, many riddles of contemporary high energy physics and to bring about a completely new understanding of space, time and matter. This proceedings of the `The Planck Scale’ meeting presents a wide spectrum of aspects of quantum gravity, from formal mathematical investigations to cosmology and phenomenological models. It provides a reader an opportunity to learn about recent developments in various approaches to quantum gravity.
Download or read book Warped Passages written by Lisa Randall and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2009-10-21 with total page 782 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The universe has many secrets. It may hide additional dimensions of space other than the familier three we recognize. There might even be another universe adjacent to ours, invisible and unattainable . . . for now. Warped Passages is a brilliantly readable and altogether exhilarating journey that tracks the arc of discovery from early twentieth-century physics to the razor's edge of modern scientific theory. One of the world's leading theoretical physicists, Lisa Randall provides astonishing scientific possibilities that, until recently, were restricted to the realm of science fiction. Unraveling the twisted threads of the most current debates on relativity, quantum mechanics, and gravity, she explores some of the most fundamental questions posed by Nature—taking us into the warped, hidden dimensions underpinning the universe we live in, demystifying the science of the myriad worlds that may exist just beyond our own.

Download or read book Gravitation written by I. Ciufolini and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2004-10-31 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although gravity is the dominant force of nature at large distances (from intermediate scales to the Hubble length), it is the weakest of forces in particle physics, though it is believed to become important again at very short scales (the Planck length). The conditions created in particle accelerators are similar to those at the time of the early
Book Synopsis String Theory For Dummies by : Andrew Zimmerman Jones
Download or read book String Theory For Dummies written by Andrew Zimmerman Jones and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-11-16 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A clear, plain-English guide to this complex scientific theory String theory is the hottest topic in physics right now, with books on the subject (pro and con) flying out of the stores. String Theory For Dummies offers an accessible introduction to this highly mathematical "theory of everything," which posits ten or more dimensions in an attempt to explain the basic nature of matter and energy. Written for both students and people interested in science, this guide explains concepts, discusses the string theory's hypotheses and predictions, and presents the math in an approachable manner. It features in-depth examples and an easy-to-understand style so that readers can understand this controversial, cutting-edge theory.
Book Synopsis Planck Scale Unification and Dynamical Symmetry Breaking by :
Download or read book Planck Scale Unification and Dynamical Symmetry Breaking written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We explore the possibility of unification of gauge couplings near the Planck scale in models of extended technicolor. We observe that models of the form G X SU(3)_c X SU(2)_L X U(1)_Y cannot be realized, due to the presence of massless neutral Goldstone bosons (axions) and light charged pseudo-Goldstone bosons; thus, unification of the known forces near the Planck scale cannot be achieved. The next simplest possibility, G X SU(4)_{PS} X SU(2)_L X U(1)_{T_{3R}}, cannot lead to unification of the Pati-Salam and weak gauge groups near the Planck scale. However, superstring theory provides relations between couplings at the Planck scale without the need for an underlying grand-unified gauge group, which allows unification of the SU(4)PS and SU(2)L couplings.
Book Synopsis Science With The Cherenkov Telescope Array by : The Cta Consortium
Download or read book Science With The Cherenkov Telescope Array written by The Cta Consortium and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-12-31 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes the science to be carried out by the upcoming Cherenkov Telescope Array, a major ground-based gamma-ray observatory that will be constructed over the next six to eight years. The major scientific themes, as well as core program of key science projects, have been developed by the CTA Consortium, a collaboration of scientists from many institutions worldwide.CTA will be the major facility in high-energy and very high-energy photon astronomy over the next decade and beyond. CTA will have capabilities well beyond past and present observatories. Thus, CTA's science program is expected to be rich and broad and will complement other major multiwavelength and multimessenger facilities. This book is intended to be the primary resource for the science case for CTA and it thus will be of great interest to the broader physics and astronomy communities. The electronic version (e-book) is available in open access.
