Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all face stress and tension in our daily lives. We might even wonder why our God of abundant goodness doesn’t remove the everyday struggles we face. Jesus’ interactions with Martha and Mary in the Gospel provide us the key to understanding how God shows us his love by allowing tensions in our lives. As we follow the sisters’ transformative journeys through their own struggles, reflecting on what transpires between Scripture verses, we see their initial tension become the catalyst that drives both Mary and Martha to the feet of Jesus — the place where all discover peace. Grace in Tension explores the areas where stress arises in our own lives. Each chapter ends with a thought-provoking prayer to inspire us to go to God with our problems, followed by questions for reflection to help us see all the ways he’s working for our good. God doesn’t create any of it, but he does show up amid life’s difficulties, ready to lead us through. No matter how big or small our struggle, when we seek him out, he reveals what we need to do to resolve our tension, transforming it into grace. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A typical bystander might view Katy McVeigh’s life as average. Yet the truth is that she has experienced physical and emotional trauma, alienation, a power she cannot explain, and a life-threatening ordeal—all unique challenges that have provided her an opportunity to change her perspective regarding the purpose of those events. Within a collection of extraordinary stories gleaned from her life experiences and work with her clients, McVeigh shares how she learned to use intuitive and psychic abilities to help herself and then others discover personal strengths and understand how our most challenging experiences—whether physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, or supernatural—have the power to teach us our greatest lessons and ultimately transform our perspective on life and our true purpose. Through her stories and experiential examples of dreams, visions, shamanic journeys, and psychic gifts through lineage, others will learn how to dance with their fears, recognize divine intervention, see the truth in every situation, and heal from past trauma. It’s All about Perspective shares personal stories and real examples to encourage others to embrace new ways to understand life events and view challenges with a fresh perspective.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1983, this book is about the way we see things – or think we do, which is by no means the same – and about the ways in which we have tried to reproduce that visual concept in diagrams, pictures, photographs, films and television. Whatever the medium, if any degree of realism is intended, some use of perspective is inevitable, and some understanding of it can aid the appreciation of the result. But here the technicalities of perspective geometry are treated as far as possible non-technically, by a common-sense approach. Students, would-be artists or architects, are warned in the Preface that they will travel second-class in the author’s train of thought (the ‘general reader’ coming first), but they may well find the journey worthwhile in that it provides a background to a subsequent, more detailed studies. Lawrence Wright shows that every form of perspective representation has some innate falsity, but that most such forms offer an adequate makeshift; that rules of geometry often need to be bent; that labour-saving dodges and shortcuts exist. As he says, perspective drawing, like politics, is an art of the possible. In reading this book, beginners may find it all simpler than they had supposed, though the established expert may in some interesting respects find just the opposite. The general reader may thereafter find himself seeing things – and representations of them – in a new light.

This deluxe, hard cover book includes over 200 rare, never-before-seen photos from William's personal collection! Told in William's own words, "Behind the Beard" includes: William's memories of his childhood and teenage years; and how he went from the cotton fields of Alabama to singing on stage with his favorite musical group. William's vision of turning a gospel group into one of the biggest acts in country music history. His first wife's one-of-kind reaction when she learned he had been unfaithful. William's stories of 50 years on the road with the Oak Ridge Boys. The real reason he was away from the group for 9 years. How he made his "Prodigal Son" return to the Oaks. Book excerpt: Paul did not write a systematic theology or specific church doctrines when he wrote Romans. His audience was Roman Christians, and his last will was to preach the gospel to all, especially gentiles in Spain. Through this letter, Paul wants to pave the way for a visit to Rome and expects their support on his mission trip to Spain. The question is this: What kind of the gospel does he want to share with them? Traditionally, the letter has been read from the perspective of forensic salvation that an individual justification occurs once and for all by faith in Christ. This view remains with the so-called New Perspective on Paul, and Christ’s faithfulness has not been explored. Rereading the letter with a renewed concept of the good news in the letter, this book challenges the traditional reading of Romans and explores Paul’s threefold gospel that features the gospel that is God-centered, Christ-exemplified, and Christian-imitated. His main concern is how gentiles can become children of God, as well as how Jews may live faithfully in Christ. In Romans, the good news is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith. It is not a set of knowledge about God or Jesus. Paul is eager to share this gospel of faith with the Roman Christians and to correct some misunderstandings about him, since his gospel is viewed as anti-Jewish or antinomian.
