Book excerpt: “Olmsted makes you insanely hungry and steaming mad--a must-read for anyone who cares deeply about the safety of our food and the welfare of our planet.” —Steven Raichlen, author of the Barbecue! Bible series “The world is full of delicious, lovingly crafted foods that embody the terrain, weather, and culture of their origins. Unfortunately, it’s also full of brazen impostors. In this entertaining and important book, Olmsted helps us fall in love with the real stuff and steer clear of the fraudsters.” —Kirk Kardashian, author of Milk Money: Cash, Cows, and the Death of the American Dairy Farm You’ve seen the headlines: Parmesan cheese made from wood pulp. Lobster rolls containing no lobster at all. Extra-virgin olive oil that isn’t. So many fake foods are in our supermarkets, our restaurants, and our kitchen cabinets that it’s hard to know what we’re eating anymore. In Real Food / Fake Food, award-winning journalist Larry Olmsted convinces us why real food matters and empowers consumers to make smarter choices. Olmsted brings readers into the unregulated food industry, revealing the shocking deception that extends from high-end foods like olive oil, wine, and Kobe beef to everyday staples such as coffee, honey, juice, and cheese. It’s a massive bait and switch in which counterfeiting is rampant and in which the consumer ultimately pays the price. But Olmsted does more than show us what foods to avoid. A bona fide gourmand, he travels to the sources of the real stuff to help us recognize what to look for, eat, and savor: genuine Parmigiano-Reggiano from Italy, fresh-caught grouper from Florida, authentic port from Portugal. Real foods that are grown, raised, produced, and prepared with care by masters of their craft. Part cautionary tale, part culinary crusade, Real Food / Fake Food is addictively readable, mouthwateringly enjoyable, and utterly relevant.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is in Watch and Pray: Volume 2? It critically lays out end-time baits and schemes of the enemy and his team to steal, kill, and send millions to hell. These include tattoos, carnal Christmas (Paradox of Christmas), false anointing, deception, false messengers, fake grace, apostasy, and worldly desires (1 John 2:16). Today, deception is so deep that it becomes difficult to trust those closer to you and to discern the right from almost right. Satan and his demons have transformed themselves into wolves among the sheep in the church everywhere, devouring them. He comes to us in camouflage to steal, kill, and destroy. Do not become his victims. We have to walk circumspectly and not as fools in Satan’s world (Ephesians 5:15–16). Many, including believers, remain carnal and blinded to the devil’s trick and are paying with their bodies and lives. The rest of this book discusses spiritual weapons and strategies at the believers’ disposal. They include spiritual connectedness with the Lord, fasted lifestyles, praise and worship, prayer, and God’s love. The kingdom of darkness is getting bolder as we approach end-times, so Christians must get bolder by drawing near to God in order to resist the enemy. The flight to heaven does not come cheap but requires vigilance and sobriety in prayers and watchfulness. Responsible evangelism does not end at leading the lost to Christ but goes further to warn those saved to take heed against false doctrines and teachings. Many false teachers and preachers are increasingly using prosperity and health messages along to trick and trap millions to hell. It is my hope that everyone who reads this book will be saved and come to know the Lord well. Anyone who reads this book will find his/her own life stories in it. May God use this book to draw all of us to himself and teach us how to discern the right from error. Pray to him and pray for all lives.

Book excerpt: How do you stay close to God in the chaos of this world? 'Kiss the Son' explores Psalm 2, helping you know God intimately. The author, Glen Gerhauser, unpacks the meaning of Psalm 2's phrase, 'Kiss the Son,' in relation to the anointing of Jesus Christ. The book explores the anointing as the Father's kiss, its purpose, and the role of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. Gerhauser also emphasizes the importance of intimacy with God, intercession, and implementation of God's Word, highlighting the concept of "sons and daughters of fresh oil." 'Kiss the Son' concludes with reflections on God's healing power, the importance of not getting distracted by earthly concerns, and the beauty of a united community centred around Jesus Christ.

This book was released on 2022-08-22 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With India’s per capita edible oil consumption nearly doubling in the last decade, so has its generation of Used Cooking Oil (UCO). UCO is the leftover oil from frying and cooking that is produced both in homes and in commercial food manufacturing and service businesses. Repeated use of UCO has been linked by extensive scientific and medical research to a number of non-communicable diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and organ damage. Consumption of UCO in any form is regulated in many countries, including India, due to its adverse health impact. However, through home and commercial reuse, almost 60 percent of the UCO produced in India makes its way back into the food chain. The Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO) initiative was started by India’s food-safety regulator, the Food and Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), to combat the growing diversion of UCO back into food supply. The goal is to develop a legal and regulatory framework to shift UCO away from the food chain and towards other waste-to-wealth industries including bio-fuels, soaps, and oleo-chemicals. However, this initiative has had limited impact due to policy gaps like those that allow topping up UCO with fresh edible oils, compounded by low levels of societal awareness, poor compliance among UCO generators, and ineffective ground-level implementation by the FSSAI and state-level food safety authorities.
