Download or read book Fractal Teletraffic Modeling and Delay Bounds in Computer Communications written by Ming Li and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-05-02 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By deploying time series analysis, Fourier transform, functional analysis, min-plus convolution, and fractional order systems and noise, this book proposes fractal traffic modeling and computations of delay bounds, aiming to improve the quality of service in computer communication networks. As opposed to traditional studies of teletraffic delay bounds, the author proposes a novel fractional noise, the generalized fractional Gaussian noise (gfGn) approach, and introduces a new fractional noise, generalized Cauchy (GC) process for traffic modeling. Researchers and graduates in computer science, applied statistics, and applied mathematics will find this book beneficial. Book Synopsis Multi-Fractal Traffic and Anomaly Detection in Computer Communications by : Ming Li
Download or read book Multi-Fractal Traffic and Anomaly Detection in Computer Communications written by Ming Li and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-12-29 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive theory of mono- and multi-fractal traffic, including the basics of long-range dependent time series and 1/f noise, ergodicity and predictability of traffic, traffic modeling and simulation, stationarity tests of traffic, traffic measurement and the anomaly detection of traffic in communications networks. Proving that mono-fractal LRD time series is ergodic, the book exhibits that LRD traffic is stationary. The author shows that the stationarity of multi-fractal traffic relies on observation time scales, and proposes multi-fractional generalized Cauchy processes and modified multi-fractional Gaussian noise. The book also establishes a set of guidelines for determining the record length of traffic in measurement. Moreover, it presents an approach of traffic simulation, as well as the anomaly detection of traffic under distributed-denial-of service attacks. Scholars and graduates studying network traffic in computer science will find the book beneficial.

Download or read book Internet Teletraffic Modeling and Estimation written by Alexandre Barbosa de Lima and published by River Publishers. This book was released on 2013-01-31 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Network traffic has fractal properties such as impulsiveness, self-similarity, and long-range dependence over several time scales from milliseconds to minutes. These features have motivated the development of new traffic models and traffic control algorithms. Internet Teletraffic Modeling and Estimation presents a new statespace model for Internet traffic, which is based on a finite-dimensional representation of the Autoregressive Fractionally Integrated Moving Average (ARFIMA) random process. This book also investigates the modeling via Autoregressive (AR) processes.

Book Synopsis Delay-Doppler Communications by : Yi Hong
Download or read book Delay-Doppler Communications written by Yi Hong and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2022-02-11 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been the waveform of choice for most wireless communications systems in the past 25 years. This book addresses the "what comes next? question by presenting the recently proposed waveform known as Orthogonal Time-Frequency-Space (OTFS), which offers a better alternative for high-mobility environments. The OTFS waveform is based on the idea that the mobile wireless channels can be effectively modelled in the delay-Doppler domain. This domain provides a sparse representation closely resembling the physical geometry of the wireless channel. The key physical parameters such as relative velocity and distance of the reflectors with respect to the receiver can be considered roughly invariant in the duration of a frame up to a few milliseconds. This enables the information symbols encoded in the delay-Doppler domain to experience a flat fading channel even when they are affected by multiple Doppler shifts present in high-mobility environments. Delay-Doppler Communications: Principles and Applications covers the fundamental concepts and the underlying principles of delay-Doppler communications. Readers familiar with OFDM will be able to quickly understand the key differences in delay-Doppler domain waveforms that can overcome some of the challenges of high-mobility communications. For the broader readership with a basic knowledge of wireless communications principles, the book provides sufficient background to be self-contained. The book provides a general overview of future research directions and discusses a range of applications of delay-Doppler domain signal processing. - This is the first book on delay-Doppler communications - It is written by three of the leading authorities in the field - It includes a wide range of applications With this book, the reader will be able to: - Recognize the challenges of high-mobility channels affected by both multipath and multiple Doppler shifts in physical layer waveform design and performance - Understand the limitations of current multicarrier techniques such as OFDM in high-mobility channels - Recognize the mathematical and physical relations between the different domains for representing channels and waveforms: time-frequency, time-delay, delay-Doppler - Understand the operation of the key blocks of a delay-Doppler modulator and demodulator both analytically and by hands-on MATLAB examples - Master the special features and advantages of OTFS with regard to detection, channel estimation, MIMO, and multiuser MIMO - Realize the importance of delay-Doppler communications for current and future applications, e.g., 6G and beyond

Book Synopsis The Fundamentals of Heavy Tails by : Jayakrishnan Nair
Download or read book The Fundamentals of Heavy Tails written by Jayakrishnan Nair and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2022-06-09 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heavy tails –extreme events or values more common than expected –emerge everywhere: the economy, natural events, and social and information networks are just a few examples. Yet after decades of progress, they are still treated as mysterious, surprising, and even controversial, primarily because the necessary mathematical models and statistical methods are not widely known. This book, for the first time, provides a rigorous introduction to heavy-tailed distributions accessible to anyone who knows elementary probability. It tackles and tames the zoo of terminology for models and properties, demystifying topics such as the generalized central limit theorem and regular variation. It tracks the natural emergence of heavy-tailed distributions from a wide variety of general processes, building intuition. And it reveals the controversy surrounding heavy tails to be the result of flawed statistics, then equips readers to identify and estimate with confidence. Over 100 exercises complete this engaging package.

Book Synopsis Broadband Wireless Communications by : Marco Luise
Download or read book Broadband Wireless Communications written by Marco Luise and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Broadband Wireless Access is a highly challenging and fast changing area of multimedia radio communications. These papers on the subject are the proceedings of the 9th Tyrrhenian Workshop, held in Lerici, Italy, September 1997. They provide a prospect on the state of the art and future development, with a sufficiently wide focus to cover technological, architectural and regulatory issues. Emphasis is given to those advances of digital signal processing techniques, microwave mono lithic integrated circuits and smart antennae that will allow the design of low cost user terminals with advanced capabilities. Specific attention is also devoted to the protocols these new terminals will use to access the radio medium, and to the kind of services that will eventually be provided to the end-user in the future. With contributions from worldwide experts, the material presented here is a timely and high-level overview of the field, and as well as being informative is a useful tool for promoting further investigation into the area of multimedia radio communications.
