Book Synopsis Mass Spectrometry by : R. A. W. Johnstone
Download or read book Mass Spectrometry written by R. A. W. Johnstone and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1975 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
Book Synopsis Time-Of-Flight Mass Spectrometry by : D. Price
Download or read book Time-Of-Flight Mass Spectrometry written by D. Price and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry contains the proceedings of the First European Symposium on Time-of-flight Mass Spectrometry held at the University of Salford in the UK on July 3-5, 1967. The papers focus on time-of-flight mass spectrometry and its chemical applications, from flash photolysis and pyrolysis reactions to shock wave reactions and high-temperature studies of inorganic solids. This book is comprised of nine chapters and opens with an introduction to the MA-1 and other time-of-flight mass spectrometers, followed by their applications to studies of chemical reactions such as flash photolysis and pyrolysis reactions, reactions involving shock waves, and high-temperature studies of inorganic solids. Subsequent chapters explore fast recording techniques for time-resolved mass spectrometry; detection of the NH2 free radical and other ammoniacal complexes in the electrical discharge decomposition of ammonia gas; and reactions of ions with molecules in the gas phase and the sputtering of solid surfaces by ion bombardment. The use of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer in experimental investigations of negative ions is also described. This monograph will be a valuable resource for users of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer and allow non-users to become acquainted with its applications and advantages.

Download or read book Advanced Mass Spectrometry written by Urs P. Schlunegger and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-22 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Mass Spectrometry: Applications in Organic and Analytical Chemistry discusses the concepts that are essential in the effective utilization of mass spectrometry. The title particularly covers the fundamentals of the modern techniques, along with the technological concerns of mass spectrometry. The opening chapter of the selection introduces mass spectrometry, while the subsequent chapters cover the fundamentals and hardware. The next chapters talk about the analytical chemistry consequences and the ion-genetic relationships. The remaining chapter covers the application of mass spectrometry, which includes structural, mechanistic, chemical, and biochemical applications. The book will be of great use to organic and analytical chemists. Chemists from other branch of chemistry, along with practitioners of related fields such as chemical engineering will also benefit from the text.

Over 900 scientists attended the conference and more than 650 papers were presented. Features of this book: The articles in the 14th IMSC Proceedings have been divided between two media: paper and CD-ROM. The book contains 33 papers the CD-ROM has 300 additional papers. 1. The Proceedings part contains 300 papers from the oral and poster presentations. 2. The CD-ROM contains a copy of the book portion for search purposes, the conference abstract book, a QuickTime movie recording of the closing lecture given by Professor R. Graham Cooks. The 50 minute presentation has been divided into 8 parts to make the files smaller and a PDF file with images from the Congress.

Book Synopsis Organic Geochemistry by : Geoffrey Eglinton
Download or read book Organic Geochemistry written by Geoffrey Eglinton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 850 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many years, the subject matter encompassed by the title of this book was largely limited to those who were interested in the two most economically important organic materials found buried in the Earth, namely, coal and petroleum. The point of view of any discussions which might occur, either in scientific meetings or in books that have been written, was, therefore, dominated largely by these interests. A great change has occurred in the last decade. This change had as its prime mover our growing knowledge of the molecular architecture of biological systems which, in turn, gave rise to a more legitimate asking of the question: "How did life come to be on the surface of the Earth?" A second motivation arose when the possibilities for the exploration of planets other than the Earth-the moon, Mars, and other parts of the solar system-became a reality. Thus the question of the possible existence of life elsewhere than on Earth conceivably could be answered.
Book Synopsis Measuring Mass by : Michael A. Grayson
Download or read book Measuring Mass written by Michael A. Grayson and published by Chemical Heritage Foundation. This book was released on 2002 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measuring Mass: From Positive Rays to Proteins is part of a celebration of fifty years of the Annual Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics. As such, it is intended not only for practitioners of mass spectrometry but also for the lay reader interested in knowing more about the field. Many who practice the art and science of mass spectrometry are unaware of how the technique is applied outside their particular area of expertise. This short exposition will provide the practitioner and lay reader alike with an appreciation for the diverse applications of mass spectrometry in present-day scientific endeavors. Measuring Mass is also intended to celebrate the major events in the history of mass spectrometry. While a complete history of the field would require a tome of much greater size, this book provides a flavor of how mass spectrometry developed from an early-20th-century curiosity of the physics laboratory into the powerful analytical tool of today. The intertwined stories of advances in the technology and instrumentation of mass spectrometry with the demand to extend the tool to more complex analytical problems are explored in chapters on applications in geology, chemistry, biology, pharmaceuticals, space, the environment and forensic science.
