Within this book, I describe my display of affection for my friends in my own way. I do not recoomend anyone folling my example for anything I describe doing in this book. Each person must make his or her own decision on how to treat their friend. The reason for the book is to show the reader just what is possible to achieve with your new friend. It’s the same things that we as humans look for – love, respect, and understanding are most important; adopt a pet and make it a friend.

Max the dog is very smart, but Max has anxiety because he’s being bullied. It all started at the local dog park when Max was attending training classes. Other dogs bullied poor Max, but his friends Helen and Greg helped him get through it and put a stop to Max’s anxiety. Children will learn from reading Four-Legged Friends in the Bark Park that being nervous has nothing to do with how smart someone is. Whether it’s dogs or humans, bullying is a bad thing. It’s been said that “Strong people stand up for themselves. But the strongest people stand up for others.”

Book excerpt: I have tried many things in my working years: steel worker, sweeper sales, campground owner, auto salvage yard operator, owner of an air compressor sales and service company, and owner of a miscellaneous metals center. I retired and sold everything. A year into retirement I volunteered to help with a project at church and found myself agreeing to take on the church maintenance, which lasted for four years. I have always had a more than passing interest in the arts. Over the years I've worked with wood, copper, iron, steel, and in my spare time I painted, mostly outdoor scenes with acrylics. Then I discovered glass etching. In my early years, the everyday work of providing for and raising a family didn't leave a lot of time for serious commitment to my artworks, but since my second retirement I have been able to fl y. I've etched sixteen windows for St. Anthony Catholic Church, Brooksville, FL; ten windows for The Florida Medical Center, Springhill, FL; six doors for St. Thomas Catholic Church, Homosassa, FL. I have works in restaurants, attorney's offi ces and many homes including that of Architect Hal Lenox. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rachel's Four-Legged Friend is an illustrated-rhyming children's book that lets the reader take his or her confidence to another level. It teaches that no matter how big or small, all of us have something to contribute to this world, making it a much better place to live in. We do not need a wand, we only need to put our gifts together and let the magic begin. Tall or short, large or petite, we each represent a piece of this puzzle, which would be incompleted, if one of us got lost. Rachel's Four-Legged Friend (whiskers) proves that even a little mouse can be seen as a big rat and through this illusion, become the creature whom will save the day. After all, it is about a mesmerized curious child, a sneaky little mouse named Whiskers and a not so obvious friendship.

Book excerpt: As close as we are to our beloved pets, we often wonder how they spend their days when we aren't watching. What do they explore? How does the world look from the point of view of our dogs and cats—or our chickens and goats? PetCam, by photographer Chris Keeney, author of Pinhole Cameras, presents a collection of striking and amusing images created by an international roster of four-legged photographers. With small, lightweight cameras attached to their collars and cowbells, they document what they see as they go about their daily routines—lounging under parked cars, scaling rooftops, jumping fences, relaxing in a neighbor's tall grass. You'll see the world through the eyes of more than twenty intrepid pets, including Coulee, a Border Collie–Golden Retriever mix from Alberta, Canada; Fritz, a tabby cat living in the Ore Mountains of Germany; Walter and Hamlet, brother and sister miniature pot belly pigs from San Diego; and Sofie, a Galloway cow, who spends her days roaming the hills of the Swiss Alps. This unique and whimsical collection offers a peek into the wanderings of our animal friends, and reveals how they experience the world we all share.

Book excerpt: Heartwarming true stories of lost dogs finding the way back home, relying entirely on amazing canine intelligence and instincts Four-Legged Miracles is a collection of wondrous lost-and-found canine sagas—actual Lassie, Come Home tales—that highlight dogs' remarkable abilities to return home despite almost unbelievable odds. Brad and Sherry Steiger have collected dramatic, carefully documented true-life anecdotes that showcase canines' amazing intelligence, courage, and sometimes seemingly supernatural powers. Often, there are no sensible explanations for how the dogs overcome obstacles like natural disasters and fierce wilderness areas, predators, grievous injuries, and more to find their human families. These fascinating reunion stories include: --Mason, the white terrier who crawled home on two broken legs to what remained of his family's tornado-ravaged house --Buca, who sat on a hill over Utah's Rte. I-15 for two months waiting for the car he knew would bring him home --Eddie, the beagle, who walked 450 miles over four months to reunite with disabled four-year-old Jimmy, inspiring the boy to work harder on his own recovery. Four-Legged Miracles will tug on readers' heartstrings, but it will also discuss common reasons dogs disappear, how to get a missing dog back faster, the dog-human bond, and the science behind some of the amazing journeys these dogs endure. Chock-full of happy endings, Four-Legged Miracles lends insight into dogs' hearts and minds, and is a treat for any animal lover.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My Dog Is the Best Person I Know is an outrageously funny and heartwarming look into childrens relationships with their four-legged canine family members. In the way that only brighteyed, perceptive youngsters can do, children from four to thirteen describe in hilarious fashion what a dogs personality is like and how the four-legged set fits into the fabric of family life, while occasionally tearing apart the fabric of the family sofa! In this wonderful collection, the children address such appealing topics as the history of how dogs got to be domesticated, what makes dogs so lovable, a candid comparison of dogs versus cats, what benefits dogs and people derive from living together, what dogs would say about the people in their lives, the personal comments veterinarians offer to dogs when patient and doctor are alone, how to show love to your dog, and why indeed a dog can aptly be called mans best friend. Here are a few choice examples: Dogs used to travel in packs, until one day they saw a persons home and thought it was a bed-and-breakfast for dogs! (Dan, age 11) Nowadays, all dogs want better foodlike filet mignon! (Jared, age 13) Who else but a dog would be sloppy enough to want to be close to a man? (Emily, age 11) Dogs are mans best friend because dogs are color-blind and so they love all the people exactly the same. (Alyssa, age 11)
