Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We learn many principles and theories every day that seem endless. But, can’t a single theory be made to cover every single movement or process of evolution of this Universe? It is the very theory I call it “theory of everything” we are going to discuss in this book which is a single and comprehensive Principle as the name suggests. As per the proposed principle, the Universe is one that is the Great Universe which perhaps due to the different situations encountered by it, is appearing like different universes. When we go into Philosophy(Tattva) or Physical Science, they came into existence on their own, go on evolving to ultimately die on their own. It is not enough to study how the Universe behaves to totally know about the Universe but we also should know the reasons behind that behaviour. That is what is done in this book. I only made an attempt to get ultimate answers to the life cycle of us and also to the Universe. It is with that aim to make an analysis by collaborating the two schools of thoughts of Philosophy and Science, the book is written. Instead of revealing what is in this book, it is easier to say what it doesn’t consist. But if the contents of the book are to be told in precise, It tells how a common man should look at the Universe. It reveals how the life of a person is made a part of it by the Universe. It explains how the Universe existed, where from it emerged and what it will become at the end of its journey (or evolution). Briefly, the Universe is this book and the this is the Universe

Book excerpt: Winner of the Newbery Medal “A charming, intriguingly plotted novel.”—Washington Post Newbery Medalist Erin Entrada Kelly’s Hello, Universe is a funny and poignant neighborhood story about unexpected friendships. Told from four intertwining points of view—two boys and two girls—the novel celebrates bravery, being different, and finding your inner bayani (hero). “Readers will be instantly engrossed in this relatable neighborhood adventure and its eclectic cast of misfits.”—Booklist In one day, four lives weave together in unexpected ways. Virgil Salinas is shy and kindhearted and feels out of place in his crazy-about-sports family. Valencia Somerset, who is deaf, is smart, brave, and secretly lonely, and she loves everything about nature. Kaori Tanaka is a self-proclaimed psychic, whose little sister, Gen, is always following her around. And Chet Bullens wishes the weird kids would just stop being so different so he can concentrate on basketball. They aren’t friends, at least not until Chet pulls a prank that traps Virgil and his pet guinea pig at the bottom of a well. This disaster leads Kaori, Gen, and Valencia on an epic quest to find missing Virgil. Through luck, smarts, bravery, and a little help from the universe, a rescue is performed, a bully is put in his place, and friendship blooms. The acclaimed and award-winning author of Blackbird Fly and The Land of Forgotten Girls writes with an authentic, humorous, and irresistible tween voice that will appeal to fans of Thanhha Lai and Rita Williams-Garcia. “Readers across the board will flock to this book that has something for nearly everyone—humor, bullying, self-acceptance, cross-generational relationships, and a smartly fateful ending.”—School Library Journal

Book excerpt: This book is made up of short articles, poems and stories that speculate on the future and seek to combine science with medicine and ideas which have always been regarded as belonging to religion or science fiction. The four short articles at the start (Gates>STARGATE, How to Create Universes, Building Doctor Who's TARDIS and Darwin's Evolution Unifies Universe) give the reader a condensed view of the conclusions my reading and thinking led me to. They seem to help explain points in each other. After these four are written the steps taken since 1999 to arrive at my conclusions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Universe of Quadrics This text presents the theory of quadrics in a modern form. It builds on the previously published book "The Universe of Conics", including many novel results that are not easily accessible elsewhere. As in the conics book, the approach combines synthetic and analytic methods to derive projective, affine, and metrical properties, covering both Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometries. While the history of conics is more than two thousand years old, the theory of quadrics began to develop approximately three hundred years ago. Quadrics play a fundamental role in numerous fields of mathematics and physics, their applications ranging from mechanical engineering, architecture, astronomy, and design to computer graphics. This text will be invaluable to undergraduate and graduate mathematics students, those in adjacent fields of study, and anyone with a deeper interest in geometry. Complemented with about three hundred fifty figures and photographs, this innovative text will enhance your understanding of projective geometry, linear algebra, mechanics, and differential geometry, with careful exposition and many illustrative exercises.

Book excerpt: Max Tegmark leads us on an astonishing journey through past, present and future, and through the physics, astronomy and mathematics that are the foundation of his work, most particularly his hypothesis that our physical reality is a mathematical structure and his theory of the ultimate multiverse. In a dazzling combination of both popular and groundbreaking science, he not only helps us grasp his often mind-boggling theories, but he also shares with us some of the often surprising triumphs and disappointments that have shaped his life as a scientist. Fascinating from first to last—this is a book that has already prompted the attention and admiration of some of the most prominent scientists and mathematicians.

Book excerpt: Buddhist representations of the cosmos across nearly two thousand years of history in Tibet, Nepal, and India show that cosmology is a rich language for the expression of diverse religious ideas, with cosmological thinking at the center of Buddhist thought, art, and practice. InCreating the Universe,Eric Huntington presents examples of visual art and architecture, primary texts, ritual ideologies, and material practicesaccompanied by extensive explanatory diagramsto reveal the immense complexity of cosmological thinking in Himalayan Buddhism. Employing comparisons across function, medium, culture, and history, he exposes cosmology as a fundamental mode of engagement with numerous aspects of religion, from preliminary lessons to the highest rituals for enlightenment. This wide-ranging work will interest scholars and students of many fields, including Buddhist studies, religious studies, art history, and area studies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What shape is the universe? Is it curved and closed in on itself? Is it expanding? Where is it headed? Could space be wrapped around itself, such that it produces ghost images of faraway galaxies? Such are the questions posed by Jean-Pierre Luminet in The Wraparound Universe, which he then addresses in clear and accessible language. An expert in black holes and the big bang, he leads us on a voyage through the surprising byways of space-time, where possible topologies of the universe, explorations of the infinite, and cosmic mirages combine their mysterious traits and unlock the imagination. The Wraparound Universe is a general-audience book about the overall topology or shape of the universe. The central question addressed is whether it is possible that the universe is wrapped around in an interesting way, and what impact this would have on astronomical observations and our understanding of cosmology. Along the way many of the general features and much of the history of the modern picture of cosmology are discussed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses some of the baffling questions encountered at the final frontier of space and time related to particle physics and cosmology in the context of recent iconoclastic observations and developments. When particle physics stagnated in the early seventies, a new development emerged String Theory. For the past 25 years, String Theory, popularly called the "Theory of Everything," has mesmerized not just scientists, but also the general public. Yet a closer scrutiny today reveals that it is no more than a mathematical marvel. It has neither predicted anything nor has it been anywhere near verification. We are essentially where we were in the early seventies. Another chronic problem that Einstein had abandoned was the unified description of his theory of General Relativity that deals with the Universe at large and Electromagnetism which is to do with particles. Such a description is necessary even if it warrants a radical departure from our time-honoured ideas of space and time. A bright spot has now appeared in Cosmology. Iconoclastic observations in the past years have shown that the Universe is actually accelerating, driven by a mysterious Dark Energy. This book takes the lay reader through these uncharted waters and mind-boggling developments on an unimaginable journey from the ultra small to the farthest stretches conceivable, via such imagination defying concepts as extra dimensions and multiple universes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the first things that strike the Western viewer of Indian art is the multiplicity of heads, arms and eyes. This convention grows out of imagery conceived by Vedic sages to explain creation. This book for the first time investigates into the meaning of this convention. The author concentrates on its origins in Hindu art and on preceding textual references to the phenomenon of multiplicity. The first part establishes a general definition for the convention. Examination of all Brahmanical literature up to, and sometimes beyond, the 1st - 3rd century A.D., adds more information to this basic definition. The second part applies this literary information mainly to icons of the Yaksa, Śiva, Vāsudeva-Kṛsṇa and the Goddess, and indicates how Brahmanical cultural norms, exemplified in Mathurā, can transmit textual symbols. Both Part I and Part II provide iconic modules and a methodology to generate interpretations for icons with this remarkable feature through the Gupta age.

Book excerpt: Did God create life, or did the world spontaneously appear? Drawing on meticulous research into the scientific and religious realms, Our Universe is a detailed study of the origin of the universe, life on Earth, and the destiny of mankind. Biophysics professor Faiz M. Khan combines both faith and science to present a balanced overview of a highly controversial topic. Khan explores the scientific analysis of creation with knowledge-based dialogue about the most modern scientific thought on the beginnings of the universe, cosmic evolution, and biologic evolution; and he contrasts these with the creationist view held by the world's major religions. Concise and compelling, Our Universe provides an unbiased and comprehensive view of some of philosophy's most debated topics and serves as a thoughtful springboard for further discussion. Khan's discourse also reflects one man's painstaking quest for an answer to a fundamental question at the very core of our existence.
