Book excerpt: These four adventures allow children to be gently reminded of how to connect, in a loving manner, to their angels; to empower themselves using crystals safely; to experiment with a beautiful and simple light filled Golden Orb meditation and so much more. The stories allow imaginations to soar starting with the empowering How to be a Peaceful Warrior which applies to both girls and boys. Its OK to Know and Care about your Guardian Angel gives support to many young children who feel or sense energy around them but find it hard to put into words. Melly the Mermaid is an uplifting and sometimes funny tale of why we need to look after our oceans involving Ami, Jade and a confused 7 year old called Jack. For those children who are very sensitive to the stars in the heavens, Athenas Decision may give them further insights into the Cosmos.

Through engaging rhymes and vibrant artwork, this picture book finds a warm, inviting way to communicate powerful truths about what we’re capable of, what we can do, and how we can live our dreams, regardless of our body’s shape or size or what others think about us. We know we’re free to think, act, and be without worry or judgment. We have opinions, voices, and the ability to choose our own way, while loving ourselves exactly as we are. Her Body Can reminds every one of us to be true to who we are as we create our paths. We can do anything, and our lives are full of possibilities when we embrace our bodies and souls and live without limits. This is a relevant and important book about body positivity, self-love, and respect for all girls. Whether we’re 1 year old or 101 years old, our bodies CAN.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This forward-thinking text challenges educators to think about and question the purpose of education and explores international understandings of the role played by early years professionals in promoting participatory, ethical and reflexive practice which benefits children as independent decision-makers. By exploring the different perspectives, concepts and practices adopted in early childhood settings in Denmark, Finland, Aotearoa, New Zealand and Sweden, Empowering Early Childhood Educators demonstrates the potential of participatory and democratic approaches in day-to-day practice. Illustrating how pedagogical approaches such as Te Whāriki, Reggio Emilia and the Montessori method may be understood and interpreted to maximise children’s engagement in their socio-cultural context, chapters empower educators to question their professional experience, knowledge and initiative to find a balance between directives and ethical practice. A rich combination of case studies, commentaries, interviews and conversations, the text offers critical insight into the daily practices and challenges of early years educators around the world and inspires critical reflection on practices which empower them. A powerful revaluation of the purposes and value of early childhood education, Empowering Early Childhood Educators will be of interest to early years practitioners, students and researchers.

This book was released on 2023-06-02 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We conduct a synthetic review of the literature examining relationships between domains of women’s empowerment and food system outcomes. Many studies report significant positive associations between women’s empowerment and intrahousehold gender equality with child dietary and nutrition outcomes, household food security, and agricultural production, but which aspect of empowerment matters for a particular outcome varies across contexts. Others document significant but mixed associations between empowerment indicators and women’s dietary diversity scores. The findings suggest women’s empowerment contributes to improved diets and nutritional status, especially for children, but that household wealth, gender norms and country-specific institutions remain important. Most papers reviewed were based on observational studies and therefore estimated associations; future research using experimental and quasi-experimental methods would add significantly to the evidence base.

This book was released on 2024-05-15 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Childhood is changing in ways that we are still unpacking, affected by digitalization, globalization and climate change, as well as shocks such as the COVID-19 pandemic. In many OECD education systems, child empowerment is increasingly an explicit aim of policies and practices. But it is often poorly defined, which risks turning it into a mere slogan. With the advancement of children’s rights, children are increasingly being included as stakeholders in decision-making processes. This report gives examples of how children in OECD countries can and do participate in making decisions about issues that affect them. The report examines children's emotional well-being and physical activity, and the role of schools as a physical space to create and support relationships. It also underlines the untapped potential of media education when it comes to seizing opportunities in childhood. Empowering all children to make the most of digital opportunities starts with further narrowing the gap in terms of access to digital tools and the Internet, where inequalities are persistent and pervasive. So, what does child empowerment mean today? Empowered children have the opportunity and ability to act on issues important and relevant to them, can learn by making mistakes, and are key contributors to democracy.

This book was released on 2019-01-17 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses an open, explorative approach to deal with the different aspects of gender discrimination and gender empowerment policies, as well as their impact on economic development and capacity-building in several African countries. It uses primary and secondary data to present the argument that, without the full input of women, sustainable development will not be achieved in many African countries. This book is the first text written by knowledgeable gender issue experts that understand the culture of, and lived and conducted research in, Africa. It provides many examples of the relationships between gender and economic development around the African continent, highlighting different processes and practices. As such, the contributors here illustrate the impact of weak gender policies, and the ability to adequately develop female capacity building that could lead to wide-spread sustainable economic growth in Africa. They also explore a wide range of new dimensions and variables that are commonly ignored by other text books on gender equality. The book will help graduate, undergraduate students and other readers to understand women’s policies in the past, present, and future by analysing and illustrating cultural, political and socio-historical contexts which have shaped women’s role in the economic and sustainable development of Africa.
