This book was released on 2017-05-27 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the second in a series entitled Found in Translation. It follows the first volume, Somatic Vocabulary: Early Contributions to Organ Jargon. This book is a compilation of articles originally published in the Russian journal Психотерапия (Psychotherapy) and the Austrian Internationale Zeitschrift für Individual Psychologie (International journal of individual psychology) between November/December 1910 and the second half of 1937. The theme is crime and suicide, and the articles were authored by German, Austrian, French, and Russian psychiatrists, psychologists, and educators who were, to various degrees, influenced by Alfred Adler's Individual Psychology. The articles reflect the emerging theory of Individual Psychology, and its active view on social issues, from educational reforms to parenting and family functioning, to criminal justice system. Individual Psychological approach to human nature as essentially relational is palpable in all articles, and readers will be able to watch how this concept has become more mature and active with time, between 1910s and 1930s. Adler's concept of Social Interest and his idea of person's unique, self-consistent, creative, and purposeful strategy in dealing with life challenges are considered in many theoretical discussions and case studies included in this book. The book is illustrated with original works of art allowing its readers to attend to artistic reflections on the major theme of the book as well as on specific cases.

Book excerpt: The history of hot rodding is filled with stories of cars that were lost for a wide variety of reasons. Some were crashed, others lost in accidents, and others simply faded away. Its the third group that Lost Hot Rods II focuses on. Many great hot rods that were once famous were simply hidden away. Some of them have been tracked down and are now found once again. As a solid follow-up to the success of the original Lost Hot Rods, this book continues the fun of discovering whatever happened to many of the great rods and customs built in the early days of the sport. Lost Hot Rods II shares the full story of each car, including how it was originally built, when it dropped off the radar, and how it was ultimately found. Photos from the past and present are included to showcase the story behind each and every one of these great cars. Industry veteran and celebrated historian Pat Ganahl once again opens the archives and pounds the pavement in order to bring you the stories on some of the coolest cars ever to appear in shows or grace the pages of automotive magazines. A perfect companion to the best-selling Lost Hot Rods: Remarkable Stories of How They Were Found.

Book excerpt: Discarded valentines. Ransom notes. To-do lists. Diaries. Homework assignments. A break-up letter written on the back of an airsickness bag. Whether they are found on buses, at stores, in restaurants, waiting rooms, parking lots, or even prison yards, these items give readers an uncensored, poignant, and often hilarious peek into other people's lives. By collecting them in his hit magazine, Found (and its companion website, www.foundmagazine.com), Davy Rothbart has bewitched the nation with a surprising window into its heart and soul and turned his many readers into an army of sharp-eyed finders. Found is chock-full of the latest and greatest of these finds, arranged in the style of the magazine, laying bare the tantalizing tales to be discovered in the trash we toss. Download or read book Lost and Found written by Sarah Jakes and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2014-04-01 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Don't let your past keep you from a full future. Like every girl, Sarah Jakes dreamed of a life full of love, laughter, and happy endings. But her dreams changed dramatically when she became pregnant at age thirteen, a reality only compounded by the fact that her father, Bishop T.D. Jakes, was one of the most influential megachurch pastors in the nation. As a teen mom and a high-profile preacher's kid, her road was lonely. She was shunned at school, gossiped about at church. And a few years later, when a fairy-tale marriage ended in a spiral of hurt and rejection, she could have let her pain dictate her future. Instead, she found herself surrounded by a God she'd given up on, crashing headlong with Him into a destiny she'd never dreamed of. Sarah's captivating story, unflinchingly honest and deeply vulnerable, is a vivid reminder that God can turn even the deepest pain into His perfection. More than a memoir, Lost and Found offers hope and encouragement. Perhaps you, like Sarah, find yourself wandering the detours of life. Regardless of how lost you feel, you, too, can be found.
