Book Synopsis Transonic Flutter Investigation of a Cantilevered, Aspect-ratio-4, 45 Degree Sweptback, Untapered Wing with Three Different Pylon-mounted External Store Configurations by : Charles L. Ruhlin
Download or read book Transonic Flutter Investigation of a Cantilevered, Aspect-ratio-4, 45 Degree Sweptback, Untapered Wing with Three Different Pylon-mounted External Store Configurations written by Charles L. Ruhlin and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A brief, exploratory investigation has been made of the transonic flutter characteristics of a cantilevered, aspect-ratio-4, 45 degree sweptback, untapered wing with three different pylon-mounted external-store configuration. For stores located near the midsemispan and weighing about 0.7 of the semispan wing, the flutter speed was not changed when the store center of gravity was moved from 38 to 12 percent of the chord. The flutter speeds for these two stores were from 14 to 19 percent less than those obtained with the wings alone at subsonic speeds. The rate of rise of flutter speed with Mach number in the low supersonic range was about the same for the wing with stores as for the plain wing.
Book Synopsis Note on Flutter of a 60 Degree Delta Wing Encountered at Low-supersonic Speeds During the Flight of a Rocket-propelled Model by : William T. Lauten
Download or read book Note on Flutter of a 60 Degree Delta Wing Encountered at Low-supersonic Speeds During the Flight of a Rocket-propelled Model written by William T. Lauten and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis of the flight time history of a rocket-propelled model of a 60 degrees delta-wing airplane configuration, fired for the purpose of obtaining zero-lift drag data, indicated wing flutter and subsequent failure at low-supersonic Mach numbers. This flutter occurred during the unpowered decelerating portion of the flight. The behavior of the model during flight is discussed and the mass and stiffness characteristics of a duplicate wing are presented.

Jones and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation has been made in the Langley transonic blowdown tunnel of the transonic flutter characteristics of a 64 degree delta wing which simulated in a crude manner a construction having spars along constant-percent chord lines and streamwise ribs. The data obtained were compared with previously published data on a 64 degree delta wing with construction which simulated spanwise spars and orthogonal streamwise ribs.

This book was released on 1958 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The method is used to calculate the flutter speed of some wings which had been previously tested at Mach numbers of 1.3 to 3.0. Comparison of the calculations and experiment is made for flat-plate 60 degrees and 45 degrees delta wings and also for an untapered 45 degree sweptback wing.

Book Synopsis Development, Analysis, and Testing of Cantilevered 6%-thick 70 Degree Delta Wing Flutter Models. Part Ii. Transonic Tests by : Bernard Mazelsky
Download or read book Development, Analysis, and Testing of Cantilevered 6%-thick 70 Degree Delta Wing Flutter Models. Part Ii. Transonic Tests written by Bernard Mazelsky and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of 6%-thick 70 degree delta wing cantilevered flutter models was designed, built, and flutter-tested at Mach numbers 0.85, 0.855, 0.90, 0.95, 1.00, 1.03, 1.05, and 1.08. The models tested have a sandwich structure comprised of an aluminum insert of 0.100-in. thickness surrounded with a plastic foam of negligible weight and stiffness. This structure provides the desired aerodynamic contour and yet possesses a stiffness low enough to permit flutter in the wind tunnel. The flutter dynamic pressures and frequencies obtained were lower than those predicted by using experimental aerodynamic influence coefficients. The unsteady effects, as determined by the NASA Kernel Function, when included in the predictions based on the experimentally determined steady aerodynamic influence coefficients, apparently increase the predicted flutter dynamic pressure slightly and decrease the flutter frequency by about 20%. Download or read book Probing the Sky written by Curtis Peebles and published by . This book was released on 2014-12-10 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the development of supersonic aircraft, the X-plane era ushered in a new and challenging phase of flight. Researchers found that much of the knowledge accumulated from the previous, subsonic flight era did not apply to the emerging supersonic aircraft. These turbojet-powered planes also outpaced the usefulness of the wind tunnel, previously an indispensible tool of aeronautic research. This book explores the development of the X-series research aircraft, the planes that helped bridge the gap between subsonic flight and hypersonic flight.
