Download or read book Fish Also Fade written by Yifat Lavi and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A children's book, intended for children aged two years and above. The book tells the story of Little Tickly, a colorful Fin fish, clever and curious, who lives in a coral reef in the deep blue sea. One day, his mother notices the colors on Tickly's little body are fading. Little Tickly swims with his parents to the getting better Reef, where he meets new friends, receive treatment and spend time, until his colors are once again beautiful and clear. The book uses the metaphor of fading colors to describe a situation of a temporary incompatibility due to illness. There is no mentioning in the book of a specific illness, therefore it is appropriate to describe any situation (from influenza or moody feeling to severe illnesses). With the help of the book it is possible to explain to children their own health situation or of someone else in their surroundings (pre-school, classroom, family, etc.) and generate with them a space for dialogue, while using the language of colors. At the end of the book there is a professional article (written by Ayelet Heller, an experienced educational consultant and psychotherapist) which serves as a "users' guide" to the adult telling the story.

Download or read book Molecular Oncology Testing for Solid Tumors written by Michael Ola Idowu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-08-18 with total page 742 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Familiarity with and understanding molecular testing is becoming imperative for practicing physicians, especially pathologists and oncologists given the current explosion of molecular tests for diagnostic, prognostic and predictive indications. Molecular Oncology Testing for Solid Tumors is designed to present an up to date practical approach to molecular testing in a easy to understand format. Emphasis is placed on quality assurance (pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic) and test interpretation, including but not limited to: the important role of pathologists in ensuring specimen adequacy for molecular testing; factors to consider in choosing platforms for molecular assays; advantages and limitations inherent to common assays/platforms that pathologists need to communicate effectively with clinicians; the importance of required quality assurance measures to ensure accurate / reproducible results; pitfalls in test interpretation (including different types of artifacts that may lead to False Positive or False Negative interpretations); test reporting using standard nomenclature; review of the current and future potential utility of next-generation sequencing in oncology. All chapters are written by pathologists and clinicians experienced in practical applications of molecular tests for solid tumors. The uniqueness of this textbook is the use of a standardized template for each of the molecular tests being discussed followed by a discussion of relevant quality assurance issues to ensure focused and efficient presentation of information. This will enable readers to easily understand the Order, Report and Evaluate (ORE) process of molecular tests. Lastly, summary tables of all the molecular assays and mutations discussed in the text are provided as an appendix for quick reference. For readers interested in more detailed information, a link to websites where additional information can be obtained is provided.

Book Synopsis Safety and Quality Issues in Fish Processing by : H A Bremner
Download or read book Safety and Quality Issues in Fish Processing written by H A Bremner and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-07-25 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The processing and supply of fish products is a huge global business. Like other sectors of the food industry it depends on providing products which are both safe and which meet consumers' increasingly demanding requirements for quality. With its distinguished editor and international team of contributors, Safety and quality issues in fish processing addresses these two central questions. Part one looks at ways of ensuring safe products. There are 3 chapters on the key issue of applying HACCP systems in an increasingly international supply chain. These are complemented by chapters on identifying and controlling key hazards from pathogens and allergens to heavy metals, parasites and toxins. Part two contains a range of contributions analysing various aspects of fish quality. Two introductory chapters consider how concepts such as quality, freshness and shelf-life may be defined. This chapter provides a context for chapters on modelling and predicting shelf-life, key enzymatic influences on postmortem fish colour, flavour and texture, and the impact of lipid oxidation on shelf-life. Part three of the book looks at ways of improving quality through the supply chain. An initial chapter sets the scene by looking at ways of creating an integrated quality chain. There are then a series of chapters on key processing and preservation technologies ranging from traditional fish drying to high pressure processing. These are followed by a discussion of methods of storage, particularly in maintaining the quality of frozen fish. Two final chapters complete the book by looking at fish byproducts and the issue of species identification in processed seafood. As authoritative as it is comprehensive, Safety and quality issues in fish processing is a standard work on defining, measuring and improving the safety and quality of fish products. Addresses how to provide fish products which are safe and also meet consumers’ increasingly demanding requirements for quality Examines ways of ensuring safe products, from the application of HACCP systems in an international supply chain to the identification and control of hazards from pathogens, allergens, heavy metals, parasites and toxins Outlines how to identify and control hazards, from pathogens and allergens to heavy metals, parasites and toxins
