Book Synopsis Recent Developments in Quantum Affine Algebras and Related Topics by : Naihuan Jing
Download or read book Recent Developments in Quantum Affine Algebras and Related Topics written by Naihuan Jing and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1999 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume reflects the proceedings of the International Conference on Representations of Affine and Quantum Affine Algebras and Their Applications held at North Carolina State University (Raleigh). In recent years, the theory of affine and quantum affine Lie algebras has become an important area of mathematical research with numerous applications in other areas of mathematics and physics. Three areas of recent progress are the focus of this volume: affine and quantum affine algebras and their generalizations, vertex operator algebras and their representations, and applications in combinatorics and statistical mechanics. Talks given by leading international experts at the conference offered both overviews on the subjects and current research results. The book nicely presents the interplay of these topics recently occupying "centre stage" in the theory of infinite dimensional Lie theory.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The interplay between finite dimensional algebras and Lie theory dates back many years. In more recent times, these interrelations have become even more strikingly apparent. This text combines, for the first time in book form, the theories of finite dimensional algebras and quantum groups. More precisely, it investigates the Ringel-Hall algebra realization for the positive part of a quantum enveloping algebra associated with a symmetrizable Cartan matrix and it looks closely at the Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson realization for the entire quantum $\mathfrak{gl}_n$. The book begins with the two realizations of generalized Cartan matrices, namely, the graph realization and the root datum realization. From there, it develops the representation theory of quivers with automorphisms and the theory of quantum enveloping algebras associated with Kac-Moody Lie algebras. These two independent theories eventually meet in Part 4, under the umbrella of Ringel-Hall algebras. Cartan matrices can also be used to define an important class of groups--Coxeter groups--and their associated Hecke algebras. Hecke algebras associated with symmetric groups give rise to an interesting class of quasi-hereditary algebras, the quantum Schur algebras. The structure of these finite dimensional algebras is used in Part 5 to build the entire quantum $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ through a completion process of a limit algebra (the Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson algebra). The book is suitable for advanced graduate students. Each chapter concludes with a series of exercises, ranging from the routine to sketches of proofs of recent results from the current literature."--Publisher's website.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This English edition has an additional chapter "Elements of Homological Al gebra". Homological methods appear to be effective in many problems in the theory of algebras; we hope their inclusion makes this book more complete and self-contained as a textbook. We have also taken this occasion to correct several inaccuracies and errors in the original Russian edition. We should like to express our gratitude to V. Dlab who has not only metic ulously translated the text, but has also contributed by writing an Appendix devoted to a new important class of algebras, viz. quasi-hereditary algebras. Finally, we are indebted to the publishers, Springer-Verlag, for enabling this book to reach such a wide audience in the world of mathematical community. Kiev, February 1993 Yu.A. Drozd V.V. Kirichenko Preface The theory of finite dimensional algebras is one of the oldest branches of modern algebra. Its origin is linked to the work of Hamilton who discovered the famous algebra of quaternions, and Cayley who developed matrix theory. Later finite dimensional algebras were studied by a large number of mathematicians including B. Peirce, C.S. Peirce, Clifford, ·Weierstrass, Dedekind, Jordan and Frobenius. At the end of the last century T. Molien and E. Cartan described the semisimple algebras over the complex and real fields and paved the first steps towards the study of non-semi simple algebras.

This book was released on 2004 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings are from the Tenth International Conference on Representations of Algebras and Related Topics (ICRA X) held at The Fields Institute. In addition to the traditional ``instructional'' workshop preceding the conference, there were also workshops on ``Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Geometry and Representation Theory'', ``Finite Dimensional Algebras, Algebraic Groups and Lie Theory'', and ``Quantum Groups and Hall Algebras''. These workshops reflect the latest developments and the increasing interest in areas that are closely related to the representation theory of finite dimensional associative algebras. Although these workshops were organized separately, their topics are strongly interrelated. The workshop on Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Geometry and Representation Theory surveyed various recently established connections, such as those pertaining to the classification of vector bundles or Cohen-Macaulay modules over Noetherian rings, coherent sheaves on curves, or ideals in Weyl algebras. In addition, methods from algebraic geometry or commutative algebra relating to quiver representations and varieties of modules were presented. The workshop on Finite Dimensional Algebras, Algebraic Groups and Lie Theory surveyed developments in finite dimensional algebras and infinite dimensional Lie theory, especially as the two areas interact and may have future interactions. The workshop on Quantum Groups and Hall Algebras dealt with the different approaches of using the representation theory of quivers (and species) in order to construct quantum groups, working either over finite fields or over the complex numbers. In particular, these proceedings contain a quite detailed outline of the use of perverse sheaves in order to obtain canonical bases. The book is recommended for graduate students and researchers in algebra and geometry.
Book Synopsis Self-extensions and Prime Factorizations of Representations of Quantum Affine Algebras by : Mathew Arthur Lunde
Download or read book Self-extensions and Prime Factorizations of Representations of Quantum Affine Algebras written by Mathew Arthur Lunde and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is well known that the category of finite dimensional representations of a quantum affine algebra is not semi-simple. Moreover, the tensor product of irreducible representations remains irreducible generically. This observation leads naturally to the definition of prime objects and the factorization of irreducible objects into irreducible primes. We show that there is an interesting connection between the prime objects and the homological properties of the category: an irreducible representation V of Û q (sl2) is a tensor product of r prime representations if and only if the dimension of the space of self-extensions of V is r . In addition, in the case when V is a tensor power of an irreducible prime module, we give generators and relations for V, as well as classify all self-extensions of V (up to equivalence) in terms of polynomials.

Download or read book Geometric Representation Theory and Extended Affine Lie Algebras written by Erhard Neher and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2011 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lie theory has connections to many other disciplines such as geometry, number theory, mathematical physics, and algebraic combinatorics. The interaction between algebra, geometry and combinatorics has proven to be extremely powerful in shedding new light on each of these areas. This book presents the lectures given at the Fields Institute Summer School on Geometric Representation Theory and Extended Affine Lie Algebras held at the University of Ottawa in 2009. It provides a systematic account by experts of some of the exciting developments in Lie algebras and representation theory in the last two decades. It includes topics such as geometric realizations of irreducible representations in three different approaches, combinatorics and geometry of canonical and crystal bases, finite $W$-algebras arising as the quantization of the transversal slice to a nilpotent orbit, structure theory of extended affine Lie algebras, and representation theory of affine Lie algebras at level zero. This book will be of interest to mathematicians working in Lie algebras and to graduate students interested in learning the basic ideas of some very active research directions. The extensive references in the book will be helpful to guide non-experts to the original sources.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this thesis is to construct and study some quantum Grothendieck ring structure for the category O of representations of the Borel subalgebra Uq(^b) of a quantum affine algebra Uq(^g). First of all, we focus on the construction of asymptotical standard modules, analogs in the context of the category O of the standard modules in the category of finite-dimensional Uq(^g)-modules. A construction of these modules is given in the case where the underlying simple Lie algebra g is sl2. Next, we define a new quantum torus, which extends the quantum torus containing the quantum Grothendieck ring of the category of finite-dimensional modules. In order todo this, we use notions linked to quantum cluster algebras. In the same spirit, we build a quantum cluster algebra structure on the quantum Grothendieck ring of a monoidal subcategory CZ of the category of finite-dimensional representations. With this quantum torus, we de_ne the quantum Grothendieck ring Kt(O+Z) of a subcategory O+Z of the category O as a quantum cluster algebra. Then, we prove that this quantum Grothendieck ring contains that of the category of finite-dimensional representation. This result is first shown directly in type A, and then in all simply-laced types using the quantum cluster algebra structure of Kt(CZ). Finally, we define (q,t)-characters for some remarkable infinite-dimensional simple representations in the category O+Z. This enables us to write t-deformed analogs of important relations in the classical Grothendieck ring of the category O, which are related to the corresponding quantum integrable systems.
