Book Synopsis Causuality Between Finance and Growth by : Deepak P. Sable
Download or read book Causuality Between Finance and Growth written by Deepak P. Sable and published by Educreation Publishing. This book was released on with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to study causal relationships between several measures of financial sector growth and deepening and economic growth in the Indian context, using annual data from 1950-51 to 2008-09. The relationship between financial sector development and economic growth can be analyzed from three angles: financial deepening leading to economic growth, economic growth leading to financial deepening and a bi-directional relationship between the two. The book gives a detailed description of the data used in this study, book further describes the empirical methodology, the main tool of analysis are the method of Granger causality, Error correction Mechanism, Impulse Response Function (IRF) and Co-integration explained. The data used are annual data from Handbook of Statistics on the Indian Economy; Statistical Tables Relating To Banks in India, Banking Statistics, NSE News (Private Circulation), Fact Book of NSE, BSE annual reports, and Handbook of Statistics on The Indian Security Market by SEBI. All the variables were tested for unit roots using the Dickey-Fuller test (1979) which have been referred from the Enders (2003) to find out stationarity and study considers critical values at 5 per cent significance level. Unit root test is performed by using the R software and difference operators have been indicated with the numerical value. This study applied Granger causality test to verify causality between various variables of financial deepening and Gross Domestic Product and Per Capita Income as indicators of economic growth. It is shown that for a wide range of financial variables, financial deepening does indeed cause economic growth. However, the causality is not unidirectional; in a feedback relationship, economic growth too causes financial sector deepening. The study supports the claims of all three schools.

Download or read book Handbook Of Energy Finance: Theories, Practices And Simulations written by Stephane Goutte and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-01-30 with total page 827 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modeling the dynamics of energy markets has become a challenging task. The intensification of their financialization since 2004 had made them more complex but also more integrated with other tradable asset classes. More importantly, their large and frequent fluctuations in terms of both prices and volatility, particularly in the aftermath of the global financial crisis 2008-2009, posit difficulties for modeling and forecasting energy price behavior and are primary sources of concerns for macroeconomic stability and general economic performance. This handbook aims to advance the debate on the theories and practices of quantitative energy finance while shedding light on innovative results and technical methods applied to energy markets. Its primary focus is on the recent development and applications of mathematical and quantitative approaches for a better understanding of the stochastic processes that drive energy market movements. The handbook is designed for not only graduate students and researchers but also practitioners and policymakers.

Book Synopsis Economic and Societal Transformation in Pandemic-Trapped India by : Subrata Saha
Download or read book Economic and Societal Transformation in Pandemic-Trapped India written by Subrata Saha and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-04 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book acquaints the reader with the critical changes in India’s economy and society amidst the unprecedented pandemic outbreak of COVID-19, which has been devastating by breaking all prior records of illness and fatality. The present crisis is shown to be more than an acute health hazard as it carries with it other threats associated with the economy, society, culture, psychology, and politics. The dynamic driving forces that have a significant bearing on life, space, and time are explored, providing a basis on which social scientists can understand the prevailing equations and project the unforeseen future to contribute to a policymaking mechanism. The Indian scenario presented here takes into account how the COVID-19-induced lockdown of transport services, closing of factories, and restrictions on mobilization have caused the economy to face a recession, affecting mostly the unorganized sector. Travel restrictions and quarantines affecting hundreds of millions of people have left Indian factories short of labour, causing havoc in the production system. Semi-skilled jobholders have lost their employment, and the country has witnessed the plight of large pools of migrant labourers returning on foot to their homelands hundreds of miles away with their families and belongings. Contributors to this volume are drawn from diverse disciplines, displaying the solidarity of academic knowledge in a physically divided world. This common platform is provided to the practitioners of relevant academic disciplines under the umbrella of regional sciences – a forum for the exchange of ideas that may be effective in the sustainable management of the crisis and a way forward after it is mitigated. Thought-provoking discussions regarding different facets of the crisis are relevant not only to the current times but also to being prepared for the unforeseen post-COVID economic and societal order.
