Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of Mel Bay's Fill Workbook is to expand the players' fill vocabulary by helping drummers create short fills. This is a flexible workbook that can be used by beginning and intermediate students and the more advanced drummer. Most playing situations are more about performing songs than solos, and for the drummer this means not only playing grooves, but also helping to cue the band into the various sections as they change. This book is a tool to help the drummer find new ways of playing short fills to break away from the old favorites. the examples in Fill Workbook are meant to by used as a starting point to initiate ideas and are written for a basic drum kit set-up. the book can easily be modified by the teacher or player to suit the individual drummer's level and for varying drum kit set ups. the accompanying CD contains 35 examples of 1/2 beat, 1 beat and 2 beat fills. the first 2 sections of the book are demonstrated as written on the CD.

Book excerpt: What is Flood Fill Flood fill, also called seed fill, is a flooding algorithm that determines and alters the area connected to a given node in a multi-dimensional array with some matching attribute. It is used in the "bucket" fill tool of paint programs to fill connected, similarly-colored areas with a different color, and in games such as Go and Minesweeper for determining which pieces are cleared. A variant called boundary fill uses the same algorithms but is defined as the area connected to a given node that does not have a particular attribute. How you will benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Flood fill Chapter 2: Scanline rendering Chapter 3: Depth-first search Chapter 4: Quadtree Chapter 5: Graph traversal Chapter 6: Connected-component labeling Chapter 7: Watershed (image processing) Chapter 8: Maze-solving algorithm Chapter 9: Ray casting Chapter 10: Box blur (II) Answering the public top questions about flood fill. (III) Real world examples for the usage of flood fill in many fields. Who this book is for Professionals, undergraduate and graduate students, enthusiasts, hobbyists, and those who want to go beyond basic knowledge or information for any kind of Flood Fill.

Book Synopsis Hydraulic Fracturing in Earth-rock Fill Dams by : Jun-Jie Wang
Download or read book Hydraulic Fracturing in Earth-rock Fill Dams written by Jun-Jie Wang and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-04-11 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents a systematic and comprehensive study of hydraulic fracturing, original in its concentration of core soil problems There have been a number of well-studied cases in which dams have failed or been damaged by concentrated leaks for no apparent cause. In some of these experiences, investigators concluded that differential settlement cracks were the probable causes, even though no cracks were seen on the surface. In these examples, it was not determined whether the crack was open before the reservoir filled or whether it might have opened afterward. In several unsolved problems on the safety of the earth-rock fill dam, the problem of hydraulic fracture in the soil core of the earth-rock fill dam is one that is widely paid attention by designers and researchers. Hydraulic fracturing is generally considered as a key cause which may induce the leakage of the dam during first filling. In this extensive book, a new numerical simulate method is suggested. The method is based on the conventional two-dimensional finite element technique, and the theoretical formulations to calculate energy release rate using virtual crack extension method. The influence factors on convergence of calculated J integral are investigated. The accuracy of the calculated J integral is verified by analysing the three typical problems in Fracture Mechanics, in which propagation of crack may follow mode I, mode II and mixed mode I-II respectively. Using the new numerical method, the factors affecting the occurrence of hydraulic fracturing in the earth-rock fill dam are investigated. The investigating results indicate that increasing any of the Young’s modulus, the Poisson’s ratio and the density of the core soil is helpful to reduce the likelihood of the occurrence of hydraulic fracturing. The likelihood of the occurrence of hydraulic fracturing increases with increasing the water level or the crack depth. The lower part of the dam core is the zone in which the phenomenon of hydraulic fracturing may be induced easily. As an example to analyse the ability of earth-rock fill dam to resist hydraulic fracturing, the Nuozhadu Dam located in Western China is analysed. Presents a systematic and comprehensive study of hydraulic fracturing, original in its concentration of core soil problems Focuses on the problem of hydraulic fracturing in earth-rock fill dams from three aspects; conditions and mechanisms of hydraulic fracturing, criterion of hydraulic fracturing, and numerical method on hydraulic fracturing Examines advanced laboratory soil testing, application of numerical methods and field testing/monitoring, all needed for a better understanding of hydraulic fracturing in earth/rock fill dams Provides an essential reference in an area of scarce research in this field, and the need in high earth dam construction in developing countries is pressing Ideal for researchers in Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering Fields; Students on Masters or PhD courses; as well as Designers and Constructors in Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering Fields.

Book Synopsis Fill Your Horn with Oil and Go! by : Gregory Uvieghara
Download or read book Fill Your Horn with Oil and Go! written by Gregory Uvieghara and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1 SAM 13:1, we see that Saul had fallen from grace in just two years! Saul's fall was probably the biggest disappointment Samuel faced in his ministry. Therefore, a defining moment in Samuel's ministry was when, at his zero hour, as he lay prostrate on the floor mourning for Saul, a voice rang from heaven: "Fill your horn with oil and go!" This book essentially illustrates the interplay between two symbols: 'horn' (that symbolizes, you, the carrier of God's anointing) and 'oil' (that symbolizes the anointing). Throughout this book you will see different pictures being painted by the metaphorical use of these two symbols: 'horn' and 'oil'. The theme, "Fill your horn with oil and go" is used to symbolically represent how a christian should deal with the different scenarios the christian faces in his/her christian walk. Dr. Gregory Uvieghara is the president and founder of All Nations for Christ Ministries, Inc. Born in 1960, he recognized the call of God on his life at the age of 9 in his native country, Nigeria. After obtaining his first degree at the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1980, he moved to the United States where he received 3 graduate degrees at M.I.T. and the University of California, Berkeley. In 1989, while doing his doctorate in electronics at UC Berkeley, the Lord led him to travel to Japan to do missionary work along with post-doctoral research at Hitachi. Since returning to the States in 1991, he has been working at AT&T Bell Labs., Rockwell, and Qualcomm while fulfilling a travelling ministry in the U.S., Japan, India, Russia, England and Nigeria. This anointed minister preaches and teaches with an apostolic/prophetic influence, signs and wonders following!
