This book was released on 2012-06-07 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The forward surgical team (FST) is a 20-man team which provides far forward surgical intervention to render nontransportable patients sufficiently stable to allow for medical evacuation to a Level III hospital (combat support hospital [CSH]). There are 57 patient condition codes (Appendix A) that identify patients with the type of injuries that would benefit most from FST intervention. Surgery performed by the FST is resuscitative surgery; additional surgery may be required at a supporting Level III hospital in the area of operations (AO). Patients remain at the FST until they recover from anesthesia, once stabilized they are evacuated as soon as possible. The postoperative intensive care capacity of the FST is extremely limited, there is no holding capability. The FST is not a self-sustaining unit and must be deployed with or attached to a medical company or hospital for support. Further, the FST is neither staffed nor equipped to provide routine sick call functions. This field manual (FM) outlines doctrine for the employment of the FST. It is the primary reference document for the Active Component (AC) and the Reserve Component (RC) of the Army. It presents tactics, techniques, and procedures for employing FSTs. It is primarily intended for the use of the FST chief, his team, and the medical company/troop commanders and their staff. Other intended users include senior medical commanders, senior medical staff advisors, and joint and Army health service support (HSS) planners. This publication is fully compatible with Army operations doctrine in war and stability operations and support operations as outlined in FM 3-0. It is also compatible with combat service support (CSS) and HSS doctrine outlined in FM 4-02, FM 100-10, and FM 100-15. This publication assumes that the user has a fundamental understanding of FM 4-02, FM 100-10, and FM 100-15; it does not repeat the concepts contained therein except to explain operations unique to the FST.

Book excerpt: This publication provides information on the structure and operation of the division and brigade head-quarters medical staff. It is directed toward the surgeons and staff members of the division surgeon's section (DSS) and brigade surgeon's section (BSS). This field manual (FM) outlines the responsibilities of the division and brigade surgeons and their staffs for the heavy conservative divisions (digitized). It provides tactics, techniques, and procedures for directing, controlling, and managing combat health support (CHS) within the division. It describes the interface required of the DSS and BSS, other division elements, and the interface with supporting corps medical elements in accomplishing the CHS mission. It further defines each cell of the DSS and BSS. This manual is the foundation for the continued development and refinement of division CHS doctrinal fundamentals, tactics, techniques, and procedures for Army XXI. In that light, it serves as conceptual "mark on the wall" for thinking about experimenting with and employing new right-sized medical units/elements in the Army XXI light infantry, airborne and air assault divisions, separate brigades, and armored cavalry regiments. This FM is not a stand-alone reference. It is a doctrine publication that speaks to the digitized division and brigade CHS and will require the user to be familiar with FMs 8-10, 8-10-1, 8-10-3, 8-10-4, 8-10-5, 8-10-6, 8-10-7, 8-10-9, 8-42, and 8-55. Users should also be familiar with the coordinating drafts of FMs 63-2-2, 63-20-1, 63-21-1, and 63-23-2.

This book was released on 2013-11-09 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Army field manual (FM) 4-40, Quartermaster Operations, is the revision of the obsolete FM 10-1, Quartermaster Principles. FM 4-40 provides logisticians and field commanders an understanding of Quartermaster principles, organizations, and procedures within the context of decisive action. The manual provides basic doctrinal discussion on the organization and operations of Quartermaster units within the Army. This manual updates FM 10-1, incorporating modular unit capabilities, designs and concepts, plus updated terminology IAW ADP 3-0 and ADRP 3-0 and other commensurate doctrine into FM 4-40. In rewriting the manual, chapter content on individual commodity areas was consolidated to produce three chapters from 19 chapters: one covering fundamentals, one covering all supply functions, and one covering field services. The net effect was to reduce the manual from 130 pages to 60 pages. Other key changes in this manual include the addition of a foreword to highlight the importance of the Global Combat Support System - Army, the identification of strategic partners that support Quartermaster functions, expanded discussion of supply chain management, and operational energy. The FM also addresses modernization in both the aerial delivery and mortuary affairs force designs. The manual also further expands on the two Quartermaster core competencies; supply and field services. FM 4-40 contains three chapters: Chapter 1 provides an overview of Quartermaster Operations. This chapter describes the Quartermaster functions, enabling organizations and mission command systems. The fundamentals of logistics command systems and how they enable commanders to gain a common operational picture is also noted. Chapter 1 defines support relationships, management functions, and requirements for total asset visibility. Chapter 2 discusses supply operations, reviews classes of supply, discusses multi-modal operations, and establishes an overview for unit supply operations. Specifically, mentioned are distribution hubs, supply support activities, accountability and responsibility, property records, inventories, and adjustments reports. Chapter 3 discusses Quartermaster Field Service Operations and how they are employed and generate combat power for the combatant commander. The chapter provides a brief overview of aerial delivery, clothing and textile repair, food services, shower and laundry, mortuary affairs, water purification, and force provider. FM 4-40 was developed in close coordination with the United States Army Combined Arms Support Command and Quartermaster School. Quartermaster Warrant Officer Advanced Course Students provided input based on their personal experiences as well as comments and input taken throughout the Army sustainment community. This publication, Field Manual FM 4-40 (FM 10-1) Quartermaster Operations, provides fundamental guidance for the employment of United States (U.S.) Army quartermaster organizations deployed in support of joint and multinational operations across the spectrum of conflict. The principal audience for field manual (FM) 4-40 is personnel of all grades and levels performing in quartermaster positions. FM 4-40 establishes Army doctrine for quartermaster operations by providing overarching doctrinal direction for quartermaster operations conducted in support of decisive action detailed in other Army manuals. FM 4-40 also provides a foundation for the development of appropriate tactics, techniques, and procedures. Commanders and staffs of Army headquarters serving as joint task force or multinational headquarters should also refer to applicable joint or multinational doctrine concerning the range of military operations and joint or multinational forces. Trainers and educators throughout the Army will also use this manual.

This book was released on 2012-05-23 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide tactics, techniques, and procedures(TTP) for corps artilleries (corps artys), division artilleries (div artys), and fieldartillery (FA) brigades. It is intended as a general “how to” guide to assist in force standardization with sufficient flexibility to adapt to local conditions as reflected in unit tactical standing operating procedures (TSOP). A firm grasp of FA and fire support (FS) doctrine and TTP, tempered by experience and military skills, should be the basis for decisive and effective action. This manual addresses TTP and the supporting infrastructure relevant to corpsarty, div arty, and FA brigade operations in support of deep, close, and rearcombat across the spectrum of full-dimensional operations. Included are:• The integration, synchronization, and execution of FA missions in consonance with the force commander's concept of operations and scheme ofFS. The manual also provides an overview of linkages to fire support elements (FSEs) and deep operations coordination cells (DOCCs).• Internal FA command and control (C2) and sustainment operations.• Support of joint/allied/multinational FS efforts and connectivity to higher levelsensors, intelligence sources, etc.Field Manual (FM) 3-09.22 (6-20-2) provides TTP applicable to Army corps artys, div artys, and FA brigades equipped under the L-series tables of organization and equipment (TOEs) in 2000 and assigned to armored, mechanized, light infantry, airborne, and air assault divisions in active or reserve component formations. It also serves as an interface document for supporting or supported United States Marine Corps (USMC) artillery formations.
