This book was released on 1983 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examines the technical feasibility of recirculating the water used to transport bottom ash in coal- fired steam electric generating stations. Information for this examination was gathered from the literature, from generating stations, and from manufacturers of ash handling systems. Successful design and operation of completely recirculating water systems for bottom ash transport must take into account both hydraulic and chemical considerations. To prevent discharge of ash sluice water for hydraulic reasons, there must be no continuing net accumulation of water in the ash system. The total water inputs from in-plant wastes, precipitation, runoff, and fresh water used around the bottom ash system must be balanced by water losses due to occlusion with the bottom ash, evaporation and re-use of excess transport water for other plant services. Hydraulically, zero discharge from recirculating bottom ash transport systems can be achieved by limiting makeup water to the one to two percent normal water loss from the system.

This book was released on 1986 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environmental Codes of Practice for steam electric power generation, whichincludes fossil-fuelled (coal, oil, gas) and nuclear-powered (CANDU) generating stations were developed in consultation with afederal-provincial-industry task force. The Design Phase Code addressesprimarily water-related environmental concerns, but not air emissions although water and solid waste concerns associated with air pollution controlsystems are addressed. This volume contains appendices listing task force members, electrical generation and water use data, selectedenvironmental objectives and water quality criteria for new stationarysources, federal regulation of chlorobiphenyls, rationale forrecommendations on once-through cooling systems and wastewaters andmonitoring, and cost implications.

Book Synopsis Plant Flow Measurement and Control Handbook by : Swapan Basu
Download or read book Plant Flow Measurement and Control Handbook written by Swapan Basu and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2018-08-22 with total page 1290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plant Flow Measurement and Control Handbook is a comprehensive reference source for practicing engineers in the field of instrumentation and controls. It covers many practical topics, such as installation, maintenance and potential issues, giving an overview of available techniques, along with recommendations for application. In addition, it covers available flow sensors, such as automation and control. The author brings his 35 years of experience in working in instrumentation and control within the industry to this title with a focus on fluid flow measurement, its importance in plant design and the appropriate control of processes. The book provides a good balance between practical issues and theory and is fully supported with industry case studies and a high level of illustrations to assist learning. It is unique in its coverage of multiphase flow, solid flow, process connection to the plant, flow computation and control. Readers will not only further understand design, but they will also further comprehend integration tactics that can be applied to the plant through a step-by-step design process that goes from installation to operation. - Provides specification sheets, engineering drawings, calibration procedures and installation practices for each type of measurement - Presents the correct flow meter that is suitable for a particular application - Includes a selection table and step-by-step guide to help users make the best decision - Cover examples and applications from engineering practice that will aid in understanding and application
