Born in Malawi under British colonial rule, even as a child she was aware of the injustice meted out to her as an African and a girl. While struggling for her education, she met and fell in love with Orton Chirwa, a charismatic teacher and activist. From then on their fates became intertwined with the politics of their country after independence. As a campaigner, politician, lawyer, wife and mother, Chirwa has left an indelible mark on Malawian politics. Her life embodies African struggles against colonialism and corruption. In Fearless Fighter Chirwa talks about her past with immense courage and humour. This powerful and moving book celebrates her achievements and calls for greater awareness of the risks faced by human rights defenders everywhere.

Book excerpt: #1 Amazon Bestseller in Leadership Wall Street Journal Bestseller An F-14 fighter pilot’s top lessons for leading fearlessly—and bringing a team to peak performance As an aviation pioneer, Carey D. Lohrenz learned what fearless leadership means in some of the most demanding and extreme environments imaginable: the cockpit of an F-14 and the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. Here, her teams had to perform at their peak—or lives were on the line. Faltering leadership was simply unacceptable. Through these experiences, Lohrenz identified a fundamental truth: high-performing teams require fearless leaders. Since leaving the Navy, she’s translated that lesson into a new field, helping top business leaders, from Fortune 500 executives to middle managers, supercharge performance in today’s competitive business environments. In Fearless Leadership, Lohrenz walks you through the three fundamentals of real fearlessness—courage, tenacity, and integrity—and then reveals fearless leadership in action, offering advice on how to set a bold vision, bring the team together (as wingmen, not Top Gun mavericks), execute effectively, and stay resilient through hard times. Whether you’re stepping into your first leadership role or looking to get out of a longstanding rut, Fearless Leadership will act like your afterburner—rocketing you to ever-higher levels of performance.

Book excerpt: 2nd Lt. Peter Bonano (Pete) is awestruck by what lay before him. It was Thursday afternoon, May 24, 1945- sixteen days after Germany surrendered. A fortune in gold and silver (bullion and coins), along with a huge stockpile of currencies from several nations (including US currencies) was arranged on the polished floors of a heavily guarded large gymnasium inside an isolated log building in the vicinity of Bad Tolz, Germany. He had been transported to this place from Erlangen, Germany by two 3rd Army OSS (Office of Strategic Services) officers from General Patton's headquarters in Regensburg. On the 23rd (one day earlier) the two OSS officers had with them a TDY (Temporary Duty) order for Lt. Bonano. The Special Order, dated May 23, 1945, was signed by the Commander of the the Third US Army, Gen. George Patton, Jr. Major Haensel, the OSS officer in charge of the cache, told Pete that he was to make a cursory inventory of the contents of cache, after which he would be in charge of a special convoy to deliver this to safe quarters. He was also told that Pete would be confined to this building until the inventory was completed. The strangeness of this assignment continued to grow with each new day. However, the most startling aspect of this mission was that, after making a cursory inventory of the captured Nazi loot, he was placed in charge of a secret convoy to deliver this treasure to a new location. To Pete's surprise/amazement, the new location turned out to be an isolated castle on the Nekar River which was occupied and guarded by OSS operatives. The author, with whom Pete confided, concluded, after intensive investigation that this was an OSS Sting operation which was clandestinely facilitated by General Patton. This documentary follows America's greatest General, George Patton, Jr., from 1940 to Dec 1945. Patton's triumphs and ordeals from North Africa and Sicily- including infamous slapping incidents which (the author contends) drastically changed world history. It is also a heart warming story about a Los Angeles draftee who rose in rank from Private to 2nd Lieutenant, and who, in the waning days of his five years in the Army, became embroiled in an intriguing OSS Nazi Gold adventure. The story follows Patton from Normandy to the eastern borders of Nazi Germany- covering major events such as: Charles de Gaulle rescuing Paris and France from communism, and a chattel in Roosevelt's New World Order; Montgomery's ill-fated Market Garden; the Battle of Bastogne; Crossing the Rhine; the Hammelburg incident; and the discovery of the Nazi loot hidden in the saltmines at Merkers on the same day that FDR dies at Warm Springs, Georgia. Eighteen days later Hitler commits suicide with the war petering out over the following eight days. However, life remained volatile for Patton as he facilitated a rogue OSS Nazi-gold operation-- an operation which, as intended, would have been a nonevent if Peter Bonano (who was involved at the insistence of Patton, and who maintained a meticulous set of records) had not been included in the operation. The story concludes with the stage being set by Patton's new enemies (the progressive left led by Secretary of Treasury, Henry Morgenthau) which ultimately ended with the firing of Patton as the commander of the Third Army, and shortly thereafter, his death in Heidelberg.

Book excerpt: A remarkable autobiographical journey from humble beginnings to a position as a powerful world figure fighting for her nation’s self-determination. Along the ancient Silk Road where Europe, Asia, and Russia converge stands the four-thousand-year-old homeland of a peaceful people, the Uyghurs. Their culture is filled with music, dance, family, and love of tradition passed down by storytelling through the ages. For millennia, they have survived clashes in the shadow of China, Russia, and Central Asia. Rebiya Kadeer’s courage, intellect, morality, and sacrifice give hope to the nearly eleven million Uyghurs worldwide on whose behalf she speaks as an indomitable world leader for the freedom of her people and the sovereignty of her nation. Her life story is one of legends: as a refugee child, as a poor housewife, as a multimillionaire, as a high official in China’s National People’s Congress, as a political prisoner in solitary confinement for two of nearly six years in jail, and now as a political dissident living in Washington, DC, exiled from her own land.

Book excerpt: A story within a story within a story, 𝑁𝑜𝑣𝑎'𝑠 𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡: 𝐹𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝐶𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑇𝑜 𝑇𝑖𝑎𝑟𝑎 is about an older teen who has undergone a breakup in her home city of New York, New York. To cope with this, Nova writes a tale about a Gamer named Lydia and a beautiful servant from the 18th century known as Avryll...Avryll who likes her normal life. But, when Avryll is asked to accompany her employer’s daughter to a gala, she encounters a young nobleman who harbors a divine secret. Rescuing her from bandits and saving her from a four-story fall, this handsome gentleman astounds Avryll. However, his ethereal abilities reveal his origins. He lures Avryll onto his sailing ship, grudgingly parts with her to a slave trader, finds her again, then hides her in a celestial realm. Home never seemed so far away, yet perhaps Avryll secretly wants more. Attempting to return to her world, she finds herself in an unfamiliar time period instead of her own. Originally from France, Avryll takes the stage with her adventures and romantic interests in this first volume of the Princesses of Earth Series, but Lydia and Nova are quick to follow suit in this new universe fantasy that is intertwined with mystery.
