Death is unavoidable.Only God has control over death. When a villager dies, relatives and neighbors come to mourn and pray for the dead person; hoping that prayers will gain the dead relative entry into the gates of Heaven. That is Okay for those who believe in life after death.Even after burying our dead, we never forget them; instead we continue to pray for them on daily basis, we never disconnect our selves from them by saying: TILL WE MEET AGAIN! After this life, then what? Do you really believe that you are a being worthy living? If yes, why would you live and in the end you are nothing? Do you think that God did create you in vain? You be born, you grow and mature to die and vanish into oblivion? Is our God that simple? Do you really believe in God being simple? God is not simple; He created you with a purpose. The purpose was for you to know Him, to love Him, to praise Him and ultimately you go back to Him after death on leaving this world of struggle against the temptations of Satan. On the other hand, there those who do not know what happens when one dies and leaves this world. Others believe that the dead people become devils after death. Christians believe that dead people go back to their Creator, to account for their lives' actions- whether good or bad. This book is meant to encourage those who do good to continue doing good and even do better in their lives, so as to receive God's reward in heaven when they die and leave this world. The story is a narration of series of events encountered by one person, who was very sick and by God's grace was spared death to tell this story for the people to believe or disbelief. Book excerpt: Drawing on the experiences of his life, traditional wisdom stories, poetic and metaphoric language, etymology, and his personal brand of scholarship, Michael Meade leads us to an undeniable truth: that the only story we came here to live is our own. Often called "an instant classic," in this newly revised and expanded edition of Fate and Destiny, Meade has taken his original message of the uniqueness of each life to new levels of meaning and inspiration. By elaborating key themes and polishing the gems of wisdom, Meade gives us an even more powerful opportunity to change ourselves and the world. Meade shows how the limitations of family and fate form the inner threads from which our individual destiny must emerge. He explains how our wounds can become doorways to our deepest gifts and how our greatest obstacles are intended to lead us to a treasure divinely seeded within us before birth. Amidst the current turmoil of the world, Fate and Destiny speaks directly to young people seeking to find a genuine path in life and trying to awaken to the dream they carry inside. At the same time, stories of the elders help older people find new ways to value their lives and touch the threads of their own destiny. Fate and Destiny offers everyone penetrating insights for those caught in life's inevitable struggles and shows the wisdom of elders depends upon remembering the spirit of eternal youth. -- Provided by publisher.

Download or read book Dancing in the Dark, Revised Edition written by Graham Buxton and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-11-08 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians are often tempted to encapsulate God in their own little boxes, as if God could be tied down to our finite way of thinking. But we can neither domesticate nor fully understand God, for theology has a lot to do with coming to terms with the mystery of God. This revised edition of Dancing in the Dark--shaped, as in the first edition, by the two overarching themes of God as Trinity and a theology of participation--embraces the notion of mystery in presenting a compelling vision of seeing all things finally united within the inner life of God. As we engage in Christian ministry, we are summoned to participate as grace-filled faith communities in the triune God's immeasurably loving and healing work in the world, leading those who are in darkness into an awareness of the God who imparts life in all its glorious abundance, that which is so . . . and a journey into the mystery of that which is to come. The liberating ministry of the gospel is both a declaration and an invitation--an invitation to the dance!

Book Synopsis Genes And Future People by : Walter Glannon
Download or read book Genes And Future People written by Walter Glannon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-05 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in genetic technology in general and medical genetics in particular will enable us to intervene in the process of human biological development which extends from zygotes and embryos to people. This will allow us to control to a great extent the identities and the length and quality of the lives of people who already exist, as well as those we bring into existence in the near and distant future. Genes and Future People explores two general philosophical questions, one metaphysical, the other moral: (1) How do genes, and different forms of genetic intervention (gene therapy, genetic enhancement, presymptomatic genetic testing of adults, genetic testing of preimplantation embryos), affect the identities of the people who already exist and those we bring into existence? and (2) How do these interventions benefit or harm the people we cause to exist in the near future and those who will exist in the distant future by satisfying or defeating their interest in having reasonably long and disease-free lives?Genes and Future People begins by explaining the connection between genes and disease, placing genetic within a framework of evolutionary biology. It then discusses such topics as how genes and genetic intervention influence personal identity, what genetic testing of individuals and the knowledge resulting from it entails about responsibility to others who may be at risk, as well as how gene therapy and genetic enhancement can affect the identities of people and benefit or harm them. Furthermore, it discusses various moral aspects of cloning human beings and body parts. Finally, it explores the metaphysical and moral implications of genetic manipulation of the mechanisms of aging to extend the human life span. The aim Genes and Future People is to move philosophers, bioethicists, and readers in general to reflect on the extent to which genes determine whether we are healthy or diseased, our identities as persons, the quality of our lives, and our moral obligations to future generations of people.
Book Synopsis Sins of the Spirit, Blessings of the Flesh, Revised Edition by : Matthew Fox
Download or read book Sins of the Spirit, Blessings of the Flesh, Revised Edition written by Matthew Fox and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2016-03-15 with total page 505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Visionary theologian and award-winning author Matthew Fox challenges traditional perceptions of good and evil by offering a new theology that lays the groundwork for a more enlightened treatment of ourselves, one another, and all of nature. In this revised edition with a luminous foreword by Deepak Chopra and a new preface that brings the book up to date with the cataclysmic events of the new millennium, Fox illustrates how, contrary to mainstream church doctrine, flesh is the grounding of spirit. Fox argues that our culture has concentrated far too much on transgressions of the flesh while failing to take into account its sacredness. Artfully weaving together the wisdom of East and West, he considers Thomas Aquinas's definition of sin as "misdirected love" and applies parallels between the Eastern teachings of the seven chakras and the Western teachings of the seven capital sins. Fox explains how the chakras teach us to direct the love-energies we all possess and proposes seven positive precepts for living a full and spirited life. He invites us to change the way we think about sin and asserts that we can combat and transform evil through love, generosity, letting go, and creativity. Crafting a blueprint for social change, Sins of the Spirit, Blessings of the Flesh points the way toward a deeper and more compassionate way to live while eloquently revealing the means to confront evil both within and without.

Book Synopsis The Soul of Theological Anthropology by : Joshua R. Farris
Download or read book The Soul of Theological Anthropology written by Joshua R. Farris and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2016-11-25 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent research in the philosophy of religion, anthropology, and philosophy of mind has prompted the need for a more integrated, comprehensive, and systematic theology of human nature. This project constructively develops a theological accounting of human persons by drawing from a Cartesian (as a term of art) model of anthropology, which is motivated by a long tradition. As was common among patristics, medievals, and Reformed Scholastics, Farris draws from philosophical resources to articulate Christian doctrine as he approaches theological anthropology. Exploring a substance dualism model, the author highlights relevant theological texts and passages of Scripture, arguing that this model accounts for doctrinal essentials concerning theological anthropology. While Farris is not explicitly interested in thorough critique of materialist ontology, he notes some of the significant problems associated with it. Rather, the present project is an attempt to revitalize the resources found in Cartesianism by responding to some common worries associated with it.
