For a MOMENT she is LOST in thought, remembering WHAT IT HAS TAKEN to get TO THIS POINT..."Grace Cambridge is a young Black Christian with a new husband, old friends, and a shocking moral dilemma. A proverbial "cat fight" opens the story and draws you into a complex relational web. The book peels through layers of dysfunction between Grace and Trina and follows their individual, sometimes intertwining, lives to reveal how they find their way back to Christ and to each other. Grace is intelligent, determined, well-spoken yet vulnerable. You want her to be happy, you want her to succeed. Grace's Christianity isn't sugar-coated. Her faith is real and so is her life---riddled with plenty of twists, turns, and conflicts. As Grace's relationship with God is challenged she questions her identity and is faced with a life-changing decision. She deals with everyday issues, sometimes successfully; sometimes not. Grace's experiences are not much different than yours---how she handles them might be.

Book excerpt: International bestselling author Tim Weaver returns with his next David Raker mystery, a high-stakes search for a recently retired detective who vanishes from his own home After decades of service, Leonard Franks has stepped down from the Metropolitan Police as a high-ranking detective in the Homicide and Serious Crime Command. He and his wife, Ellie, have retired to a farmhouse in the seclusion of the English countryside, far from the clamor of London. Everything goes just as they’ve imagined, until the night Leonard leaves the house to fetch firewood—and never returns. With the police investigation at a dead end nine months later, Leonard’s daughter, a detective herself, turns in desperation to David Raker, a missing persons investigator with a gift for finding the lost. But nothing can prepare Raker for what he's about to find—or for the devastating secret behind this disappearance. And by the time he realizes what it is, and how deep the lies go, he finds himself in serious danger—along with everyone he cares about. Raker’s action-packed investigation takes readers on a richly atmospheric thrill ride, from the seedy backstreets of London and the stark quiet of the Devon countryside to the sinister hallways of an abandoned mental institution. In Fall from Grace, Weaver has delivered another sharp, emotionally charged mystery that saves its most startling revelations for the final pages.

Book excerpt: Leo Desroches goes straight—off the streets, into the newsroom, and up to his neck in murder Marking the debut of Leo Desroches, one of the most unusual amateur detectives ever to appear in Canada or points south, this fast-paced, enthralling mystery is the story of a man who had everything, lost it all, and is trying to get it back. Leo Desroches doesn't look like a native, but his mother was Cree, and he understands the problems of indigenous Canadians of the First Nations. Which is probably why the Edmonton newspaper he writes for decides he should be their Aboriginal Issues reporter. He has his own issues to deal with: his compulsive gambling that he couldn't stop even after it cost him his wife and children; his alcoholism; the risk-taking that threatens to derail him every time he starts to get his life back together. When he's assigned to cover the murder of a young native prostitute, it's just one more story...until the cop in charge lets him view the corpse, something the Edmonton police never do. When Leo writes his article, it starts a chain of events that leads him to discover a much, much bigger story, one that could bring down the entire police department...if it doesn't get him killed.

Book excerpt: "Legalism is a toxic poison that will affect your life, marriage, relationships, and ministry. It is responsible for more darkness in the Body of Christ than anything else." Legalism breeds self-righteousness, spiritual pride, boasting, guilt, despair, fear, intimidation, insecurity, and bondage. In this 2nd edition, the theology of grace, legalism, and apostasy are presented in one compelling volume. Charles Smoot, a former United Pentecostal Church International (U. P. C.) minister, reveals why legalism is a dangerous religious phenomenon that is dug in and entrenched in many churches and movements today. Justification, election and calling, perseverance, eternal security, holiness, backsliding, apostasy, reprobation, the unpardonable sin, the sin unto death, suicide, and more are examined from the vantage point of Calvary and the finished work of Jesus Christ. Only God's grace can lead the believer to righteousness, humility, faith, hope, love, peace, security, and liberty. Fallen from Grace will challenge your theology and cause you to examine your belief system. It will expose legalism and call you back to grace, Calvary, and the blood."

Book excerpt: In Fallen from Grace, Tyrone, a highly esteemed pastor and avid worker in the church, has found himself in a compromising position that has landed himself in a jail cell and his wife Shanice in hospital fighting for her life because she has endured physical and emotional pain. Tyrone was raised in church and personally learned in his younger years that we can become consumed in situations that can leave us broken and dealing with the transgressions of reaping from bad seeds that we have sowed in our earthly lives. Tyrone was into fast-street life and continuously fell short of God’s glory. Yet God continued to show him that He is faithful and a forgiving God. Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice and died for our sins because His desire is for His people to live life more abundantly. God also wants His people to walk in obedience and trust His word because being obedient is better than sacrifice. The Bible explains in Psalms 51:5 that we are born into sin and shaped into iniquity, but we are more than conquerors, and also in Romans 3:23, that all have fallen short of the grace of God, yet the mercy and grace of God are sufficient and will provide you with a guiding light in times of darkness. God’s guidance led Tyrone to a place of refuge where he met Pastor Tony, with whom he collectively shared an interest in seeking wise counsel and leading the people of God under the leadership of Bishop Jones. Deceitfulness clouded Pastor Tyrone’s mind, causing him to sin. Yet the Holy Spirit overshadowed his life and provided him with the privilege of repentance and the ability to receive God’s mercy and be saved by grace.

Book excerpt: Fall from Grace started as a book about drug abuse and gradually formed into a story about a lost, adopted child who responded to the world with destruction. For some reason, and as far back as I can remember, I've always felt hard done by or resentful. Maybe it's because of the adoption, but even as a young child, I was angry and destructive. I broke everything I got, and to be honest, I behaved like a delinquent. This behavior continued and progressed until that fateful day when I first tried drugs. Drugs and alcohol became the solution to an unnamed problem, and eventually developed into a life-threatening obsession that very nearly put me six feet under. Fall from Grace is mostly factual, some of the instances are from distorted memories and in that respect, the story is as true as my memories are, and maybe that isn't the most reliable source, but hey, it's done and it's my experience of what I went through. So enjoy.
