Book Synopsis Notable American Women with Czechoslovak Roots by : Miloslav Rechcigl Jr.
Download or read book Notable American Women with Czechoslovak Roots written by Miloslav Rechcigl Jr. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-09-16 with total page 749 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Even though there exist only a few general studies on the subject of Czechoslovak American women, this is not, at all, a reflection of the paucity of work done by these women, as this publication demonstrates. This monograph is a compendium of notable American women with Czechoslovak roots, who distinguished themselves in a particular field or area, from the time they first immigrated to America to date. Included are, not only individuals born on the territory of former Czechoslovakia, but also their descendants. This project has been approached strictly geographically, irrespective of the language or ethnicity. Because of the lack of bibliographical information, most of the monograph comprises biobibliographical information, in which area a plethora of information exists. As the reader will discover, these women have been involved, practically, in every field of human endeavor, in numbers that surprise. On the whole, they have been noted for their independent spirit and nonconforming role.
Book Synopsis Electronic Information Systems in Sci-Tech Libraries by : Cynthia A. Steinke
Download or read book Electronic Information Systems in Sci-Tech Libraries written by Cynthia A. Steinke and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-12-06 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, first published in 1990, analyses the variety of ways in which libraries extend their resources to users beyond the physical walls of their organization. Librarians discuss the concept of the library as more than just a place - since its holdings can now appear on the screen of users’ computers in the same city or in a city hundreds of miles away - but rather as a force that electronically links users directly with both local and remote sources of information. Six informative chapters examine electronic information systems and document delivery from the local collection to the workplace, between system libraries and from non-library sources. Readers can look first hand at some of the most sophisticated and widespread systems in the country, including four academic libraries that promote electronic services to remote users and two special libraries offering innovative services. The authoritative contributing authors also forecast new systems and services.

Download or read book Dictionary of Corporate Social Responsibility written by Samuel O. Idowu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 623 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a concise and authoritative reference work and dictionary in the field of corporate social responsibility, sustainability, business ethics and corporate governance. It provides reliable definitions to more than 600 terms and concepts for researchers and professionals alike. By its definitions the dictionary helps users to understand the meanings of commonly used terms in CSR, and the roles and functions of CSR-related international organizations. Furthermore, it helps to identify keynotes on international guidelines, codes and principles relevant to CSR. The role of CSR in the business world has developed from a fig leaf marketing front into an important and indispensable aspect of corporate behavior over the past years. Sustainable strategies are valued, desired and deployed more and more by relevant players in business, politics, and societies all over the world. Both research and corporate practice therefore see CSR as a guiding principle for business success.

Book Synopsis A Guide to Library Research in Music by : Pauline Shaw Bayne
Download or read book A Guide to Library Research in Music written by Pauline Shaw Bayne and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2008 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Guide to Library Research in Music introduces the process and techniques for researching and writing about music. This informative textbook provides concrete examples of different types of writing, offering a thorough introduction to music literature. It clearly describes various information-searching techniques and library-based organizational systems and introduces the array of music resources available. Pauline Shaw Bayne has cleanly organized the material in three succinct parts, allowing for three independent tracks of study. Part I treats essentials of the research process. It explains starting point resources like library catalogs, dictionaries, and bibliographies; addresses scholarly documentation, the use of style manuals, and basics of copyright; and provides samples of common written research products. Part 2 develops skills and strategies for library and Internet-based research, describing database structures and library catalogs, subject searching in catalogs and journal indexes, keyword searching techniques, related-record searching and citation databases, and the use of experts, the Internet, and thematic catalogs. In Part 3, Bayne describes music uniform titles and select resources that follow the organization of a music library, such as score collections, books and journals in music literature, and music teaching publications. Each chapter concludes with learning exercises to aid the students' concept application and skill development. Appendixes provide short cuts to specific topics in library organizational systems, including Library of Congress Subject Headings and Classification. The concluding bibliography provides a quick overview of music literature and resources, emphasizing electronic and print publications since 2000, but including standard references that all music researchers should know.

Allan Cohen and Pramodita Sharma, scholars with deep professional and personal roots in family businesses, show how enterprising families can transmit the hunger for excellence across generations. Using examples of firms that flourished and those that failed, they describe the practices that characterize entrepreneurial individuals, families, and organizations and offer pragmatic advice that can be tailored to your unique situation.
