Essential oil has their own usefulness for example to be used as in medicinal purpose, aromatherapy industry, pharmaceutical industry, as an insect repellent, and many more.Citronella oil is one of the examples of essential oil that have highly demand in the industry from time to time. The current techniques used in producing essential oil in the industry have their own advantages and disadvantages. Solventless extraction technique is a new technique that has been studied to produce essential oil with high yield, high quality, low cost, low time consuming, and environmental friendly. Optimization by using Response Surface Methodology through Central Composite Design (CCD) is required to study the optimum condition for this technique to produce high yield of essential oil, before it is able to be commercialize to the industry. The effect of temperature and time of extraction has been studied in this research. Through the study, the maximum essential oil produced by this technique is at 100°C and 10 hours, that is 1.354%. The oil produced at this condition is then being analyzed by using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) to identify the active compound inside the plant material. In order to compare the yield and quality of oil produced, solvent extraction method was also conducted in this experiment. The yield has been calculated and the oil has been analyzed by using gas chromatography, (GC). Based on the comparison between these two techniques, it is proved that essential oil produced by using solventless extraction technique is higher in quality compared to essential oil produced by solvent extraction technique.

This lack of knowledge of both the microwave oven and microwave-food interaction spurred the development of this text. Microwave technology was developed du ring World War 11 when the best scientists in the United States were cloistered at the radiation labora­ tory at MIT. In the 1940s virtuaIly aIl the technology that could impact the microwave oven was developed and weIl understood. The problem was in the translation of this decades-old knowledge to rules and techniques to be used for food product development. Early authors such as Püschner and Copson wrote texts primarily on applications to industrial processing. This knowledge lay faIlow as these texts went out of print.

As this difficult genus was never before monographed, a revisional study was much needed. The data presented are mainly based on the study of herbarium specimens and in some cases of living ones. The picture was completed, as far as possible, with data from various literature sources. A short survey is given of the taxonomic history of Origanum, which goes back as far as Linnaeus, and shows that genus and species concepts of various authors have much differed. A morphological outline of Origanum is given, from which it can be concluded that most generic characters are rather variable. Origanum is characterized in the following ways. Medium sized, subshrubby Labiatae, rich in volatile oils, with subsessile, ovate, glandular punctate leaves and paniculate inflorescences; few flo­ wered verticillasters arranged in (dense) spikes with distinct, often coloured, bracts; calyces variable: 5-toothed, subregular or 2-lipped or I-lipped, with developed or reduced teeth; corollas 2-lipped, sometimes saccate or flattened.
