Eine Zusammenarbeit mit externen Anbietern bei dieser Personaldienstfunktion gibt vor allem Klein- und Mittelbetrieben die Möglichkeit, nicht nur die Leistungsqualität zu erhöhen oder ihre Kosten zu senken, sondern sich auch auf ihre Kernkompetenzen zu konzentrieren. Veränderungen im Personalbereich können immer Vor- und Nachteile mit sich bringen, die eine Entscheidung abwägen, bei seinen Kernkompetenzen zu bleiben oder diese zu externalisieren. Dennoch müssen auch diese neuen Wege gegangen und ergründet werden. Die momentane Situation im Bereich des Personalmanagements wirft demnach eine wichtige Frage auf: Ist es für den Mittelstand eine sinnvolle Idee, dieses wichtige Spezialthema der Personalbeschaffung an externe Dienstleister oder neu gegründete Tochtergesellschaften zu übergeben? So können die Zeiten des „War for Talents“ erfolgreich bestanden werden und man kann gestärkt und mit motivierten, neuen, erfolgsorientierten Mitarbeitern die nächsten Jahre absolvieren mit dem Ziel, die Prozesse und Kundenzufriedenheit zu optimieren. „Verglichen mit aufwändigen Rekrutierungsprozessen in Großunternehmen scheint die Personalauswahl im Mittelstand oft wenig professionell zu verlaufen.“ Kann deshalb eine Auslagerung der Personalauswahl dem Personalmanagement im Mittelstand einen Professionalisierungsschub geben um so den „War for Talents“ zu gewinnen? Wie der Mittelstand diese Fragen beurteilt und einschätzt soll Ziel dieser Studie sein.
