Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When psychic surgeon Chris Ratter was starting out on his own path of unfolding trance mediumship, he found there was very little information available to clarify certain points or answer questions he had. His desire to ensure others did not feel the same isolation and confusion became his main motivation for writing An Exploration of Trance Mediumship. Chris takes the reader on a touching quest to find greater understanding of the bridge between our world and the world of spirit, explaining key aspects of trance mediumship as well as introducing the reader to his spirit team and providing insight as to how he came to know his individual guides. All mediumship is healing, and an accurate, perceptive verbal communication from a loved one in spirit has the power to mend a metaphorical broken heart. When it comes to the physical body, however, Chris's psychic surgery, which goes hand-in-hand with his trance mediumship, has the power to heal across the spectrum of psychological and physiological conditions.

Book excerpt: Ongoing debates about the 'return of religion' have paid little attention to the orgiastic and enthusiastic qualities of religiosity, despite a significant increase in the use of techniques of trance and possession around the globe. Likewise, research on religion and media has neglected the fact that historically the rise of mediumship and spirit possession was closely linked to the development of new media of communication. This innovative volume brings together a wide range of ethnographic studies on local spiritual and media practices. Recognizing that processes of globalization are shaped by mass mediation, the volume raises questions such as: How are media like photography, cinema, video, the telephone, or television integrated in seances and healing rituals? How do spirit mediums connect with these media?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: *Psychic Exploration, A Challenge for Science* is a primer on psychic research, life’s purpose, and the meaning of the universe. Originally published in 1974, this landmark anthology of nearly thirty chapters on every area of psychic research is finally available again. Edgar D. Mitchell, Apollo 14 astronaut and moonwalker, as well as a distinguished researcher of the study of human consciousness, brought together eminent scientists to write about issues once considered too controversial to discuss. This book includes fascinating chapters on the history of parapsychology, telepathy, hauntings, psychic phenomena, and consciousness, along with an extensive glossary and index. This timeless anthology continues to be appealing as a reference work for those curious about the history of parapsychology, fans of the world of psi, and readers interested in the meaning of the universe. Contributors include: Willis W. Harman, Jean Houston, Stanley Krippner, Robert Masters, William G. Roll, Russell Targ, Charles T. Tart, Montague Ullman, and many more. “ […] perhaps the most important change [since the initial publication of *Psychic Exploration*] has been due to advancements in quantum physics […] If this trend continues, then the age-old puzzle at the core of religious epiphanies, mystical insight, and creative genius will finally yield to scientific explanations: What is the true nature of consciousness?” —From the New Foreword by Marilyn Schlitz, PhD, and Dean Radin, PhD

When you take your time to think about it, you will discover that there are times when you know about something before it happens. Maybe you knew that someone was calling you before your phone rang. Or you felt someone was dead and then you heard the bad news about the person. Sometimes it may be that you felt like an accident would occur when you were driving even before anything happened.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The spiritual assessment is a psychic reading (also known as a sitting), primarily conducted for those developing their spiritual abilities and requiring an experienced medium to help them find focus, purpose, validation and empowerment. In the same vein that someone will consult a psychic medium for life guidance, the spiritual assessment will place the emphasis on the spiritual development of the sitter. The spiritual assessor is an experienced psychic medium, who already understands the terminology described within this book. However, some terms are included in the glossary, as novices practicing for conducting spiritual assessments, may prefer some reference points. Glossary items are underlined.A sitter requests a spiritual assessment for many different reasons. The most common reasons are:•Reassurance they are on the right pathway and the next steps•Feeling ‘lost’ or ‘blocked’ with their progress•Validation of their abilities, experiences and interests•Discovery of new potentials•Advice and/or knowledge on how to progress•Discussion time with an experienced mediumIf you are a psychic medium - YOU GOT THIS and it is a liberating way of helping others, through your skills and experience. For all that you sacrificed and experienced to follow your chosen path, you can now help others, so they are no longer feeling alone, misunderstood and unsupported. The spiritual assessment is the most requested ‘one to one’ experience at the Arthur Findlay College (The world’s foremost college for psychic sciences). Those of us who walk the path of the spirit, know it is a genuine soul journey and also know there are times when we need to take stock of our own progress. In this book, we will explore the deeper reasons for the spiritual assessment, develop a tried and trusted approach to success for you and your sitter, which empowers and supports each other’s goals.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Practical Occultism: A Course of Lectures Through the Trance Mediumship The educational and reformatory movement called Modern spiritualism has, in its inherent many-sidedness, developed variant phases of expression and action. Com ing in contact with individualities of almost every conceiv able character, it has been variously interpreted and' directed; and candor compels the assertion, that not at all times has the interpretation and direction given it been of the wisest and best. In some instances its facts and truths - fraught with such momentous consequence to humanity for good or ill, according to the manner of their use by those to whom they come - have been perverted to unwise or harmful ends and uses, - sometimes in ignorance, and at other times through conscious misapplication thereof for selfish or evil purposes. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume addresses controversies connected to the testing of the capacities and potentials of mediums. Today we commonly associate the term "medium" with the technical communication between transmitters and receivers. Yet this term likewise applies to those who cooperate with agencies that exceed the presumed domain of the material world. Insofar as one presumes a division between distinctly opposed categories of religion and the secular, technical media tend to be associated with the secular and human (trance) mediums tend to be associated with religion after 1900. This volume concerns the ways in which the term medium still marks an overlapping of – and thus problematizes – the aforementioned division between religion and the secular, the personal and the technological. The term medium carries with it a seed of doubt that is itself inseparable from investment in the medium's power: insofar as they communicate with an "other" realm, mediums offer the hope and promise of new possibilities and improved efficiency, and thus of a better life; yet they have simultaneously been under suspicion of altering (or even inventing) the messages they communicate. It is due to this combination of promise and suspicion that "mediumism" has tended to evoke scientific, religious, and moral controversies. Thus, we can speak of a "mediumistic trial" – that is, a process in which a medium is put to the test concerning its potentials and trustworthiness. Around 1800, experts were asked if a modern secular institution would be capable of inspiring, domesticating or excluding trance mediumship. This question has stayed with us ever since, and the answers have remained inconclusive. That is why the past and present of mediumship may be asked to elucidate each other.
