[...] Many of the tools currently in used are quite similar to either the LSI-R or the YLS/CMI (see Appendix 2 and 3 for a list and profile of the tools deployed in each province and territory). Book excerpt: L'ordonnance différée de placement et de surveillance (ODP) est une peine qui a été instaurée lors de l'adoption de la Loi sur le système de justice pénale pour les adolescents (LSJPA) en 2003 (Roberts, 2003). Depuis l'entrée en vigueur de la LSJPA , la clientèle des Centres Jeunesses s'est alourdie (F.-Dufour, Alain, Marcotte et Villeneuve, 2015). En effet, pour qu'un jeune « entre » dans le système, il doit avoir commis un délit plus grave qu'auparavant (F.-Dufour, Alain, Marcotte et Villeneuve, 2014). De plus, comme la durée des peines a été écourtée d'office, les intervenants disposent de moins de temps pour modifier la trajectoire délictuelle de ces jeunes. On observe que les intervenants des centres jeunesse font face à une clientèle ayant une trajectoire délictuelle plus ancrée, mais ils n'ont pas de ressources et de traitements pouvant répondre aux nombreux besoins de ces jeunes (Hastings, 2009). Il importe donc de sélectionner rapidement les interventions les mieux adaptées aux besoins du jeune. Cet essai a donc permis d'identifier les interventions qui sont les plus probantes et celles qui le sont moins auprès des jeunes contrevenants soumis à une ODP. L'intervention qui démontre le plus de succès est la construction d'un lien de confiance entre l'intervenant et le jeune. D'autres interventions (interventions contrôlantes et au niveau de la famille, du rôle social, des dépendances et de la gestion des émotions) ont plutôt eu un effet mitigé sur la récidive et le nombre de manquements commis durant le suivi. Enfin, la faible intensité du suivi avait un effet pervers sur le risque de récidive et le nombre de manquements commis.
