Book Synopsis Magnetism and Synchrotron Radiation by : Eric Beaurepaire
Download or read book Magnetism and Synchrotron Radiation written by Eric Beaurepaire and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-12 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in the synthesis of new materials with often complex, nano-scaled structures require increasingly sophisticated experimental techniques that can probe the electronic states, the atomic magnetic moments and the magnetic microstructures responsible for the properties of these materials. At the same time, progress in synchrotron radiation techniques has ensured that these light sources remain a key tool of investigation, e.g. synchrotron radiation sources of the third generation are able to support magnetic imaging on a sub-micrometer scale. With the Fifth Mittelwihr School on Magnetism and Synchrotron Radiation the tradition of teaching the state-of-the-art on modern research developments continues and is expressed through the present set of extensive lectures provided in this volume. While primarily aimed at postgraduate students and newcomers to the field, this volume will also benefit researchers and lecturers actively working in the field.
Book Synopsis Magnetism: A Synchrotron Radiation Approach by : Eric Beaurepaire
Download or read book Magnetism: A Synchrotron Radiation Approach written by Eric Beaurepaire and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-08-29 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the edited lectures of the fourth Mittelwihr school on 'Magnetism and Synchrotron Radiation'. This series of events introduces graduate students and nonspecialists from related disciplines to the field of magnetism and magnetic materials with emphasis on synchrotron radiation as an experimental tool of investigation. These lecture notes present in particular the state of the art regarding the analysis of magnetic properties of new materials.
Book Synopsis Spin Dependent Transport in Magnetic Nanostructures by : Sadamichi Maekawa
Download or read book Spin Dependent Transport in Magnetic Nanostructures written by Sadamichi Maekawa and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-07-11 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In magnetic systems of nano-meter size, the interplay between spin and charge of electrons provides unique transport phenomena. In magnetic superlattices, magnetic and non-magnetic metallic thin films with thickness of the order of one nano-meter are piled-up alternately. Since the discovery of giant magnetoresistance (GMR) in these superlattices in 1988, spin dependent transport phenomena in magnetic nanostructures have received much attention from both academic and technological points of view. Ferromagnetic tunnel junctions made of ferromagnetic metal electrodes and a very thin insulating barrier between them are also of current interest as magnetoresistive devices, where the tunneling current depends on the relative orientation of magnetization (TMR). In addition to magnetic superlattices and magnetic tunnel junctions, magnetic granular systems and magnetic dots have been studied extensively as magnetoresistive systems. Edited by two of the world's leading authorities, Spin Dependent Transport in Magnetic Nanostructures introduces and explains the basic physics and applications of a variety of spin-dependent transport phenomena in magnetic nanostructures with particular emphasis on magnetic multilayers and magnetic tunnel junctions.
Book Synopsis Electrochemical Surface Modification by : Richard C. Alkire
Download or read book Electrochemical Surface Modification written by Richard C. Alkire and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-21 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this topical volume, the authors provide in-depth coverage of the vital relationship between electrochemistry and the morphology of thin films and surfaces. Clearly divided into four major sections, the book covers nanoscale dielectric films for electronic devices, superconformal film growth, electrocatalytic properties of transition metal macrocycles, and the use of synchrotron techniques in electrochemistry. All the chapters offer a concise introduction to the relevant topic, as well as supplying numerous references for easy access to further reading and the original literature. The result is must-have reading for electrochemists, physical and surface chemists and physicists, as well as materials scientists and engineers active in the field of spectroscopic methods in electrochemistry.
Book Synopsis Polymer-Based Additive Manufacturing by : Declan M. Devine
Download or read book Polymer-Based Additive Manufacturing written by Declan M. Devine and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-16 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to give readers a basic understanding of commonly used additive manufacturing techniques as well as the tools to fully utilise the strengths of additive manufacturing through the modelling and design phase all the way through to post processing. Guidelines for 3D-printed biomedical implants are also provided. Current biomedical applications of 3D printing are discussed, including indirect applications in the rapid manufacture of prototype tooling and direct applications in the orthopaedics, cardiovascular, drug delivery, ear-nose-throat, and tissue engineering fields. Polymer-Based Additive Manufacturing: Biomedical Applications is an ideal resource for students, researchers, and those working in industry seeking to better understand the medical applications of additive manufacturing.
