Book excerpt: L’étude expérimentale d'une couche de mélange supersonique dont les grosses structures les plus représentatives se meuvent, par rapport aux écoulements extérieurs, a un nombre de Mach convectif Mc=0.62 a été effectuée pour décrire l'évolution de cet écoulement entre l'état de couche limite et celui de couche de mélange turbulente pleinement développée. Des mesures de turbulence ont été réalisées à l'aide d'une méthode d'anémothermométrie par fil chaud spécialement adaptée au cas transsoniques à faibles nombres de Reynolds. Cette méthode ayant été validée à la fois dans la couche limite initiale et dans la couche de mélange, les résultats obtenus ont été interprétés à l'aide d'un modèle de diffusion turbulente qui semble bien adapté à ce type d'écoulement. Une compilation des données disponibles dans la littérature a été effectuée. Il en ressort que le niveau de frottement turbulent varie avec Mc comme le taux d'évasement. L’anisotropie de la turbulence ne semble pas altérée jusqu’à Mc>0.6 . De plus, le modèle de diffusion proposé donne une méthode simple pour évaluer la vitesse de convection des grosses structures énergétiques. Les résultats de ces estimations sont en bon accord avec les mesures directes de cette quantité, particulièrement dans notre cas où Uc a été déterminé à l’aide de mesures en deux points, ainsi qu’avec les estimations théoriques basées sur l’existence de chocs liées aux structures convectées. Ainsi, une évaluation des effets de compressibilité sur les quantités turbulentes est donnée et reliée aux modifications dans la structure de l’écoulement.

Book excerpt: Cette étude a porté sur le double aspect de la simulation numérique de la turbulence et celui de la modélisation des couches de mélange supersonique réactive ou inerte. Une première partie de ce travail a concerné la description théorique de la turbulence compressible tant du point de vue hydrodynamique que diffusif ou réactif. Elle fait l'objet d'une revue des principaux résultats expérimentaux ou numériques concernant le mélange supersonique. Ensuite, nous avons abordé quelques questions afférentes à la simulation numérique du mélange turbulent dans les écoulements a grandes vitesses. Des simulations bidimensionnelles et tridimensionnelles nous ont permis d'étudier en détail le processus de mélange moléculaire; on a pu retrouver certains phénomènes observes expérimentalement: régimes de mélange, structures en couches minces, effet du nombre de Mach convectif. En vue de prolonger ce travail de simulation vers les écoulements réactifs, nous nous sommes au préalable intéresse au problème théorique des flammes de diffusion monodimensionnelles. Ce volet de l'étude nous a permis d'examiner la structure élémentaire d'une flamme de diffusion laminaire avec ou sans étirement. On a ensuite étudié le problème de la simulation numérique de la flamme supersonique turbulente. Ceci a permis de tester les résultats de modèles cinétiques réduits par rapport à un modèle cinétique complet (Effet du nombre de Damkohler). Le problème pratique de l'intensification de la combustion à également été aborde. Ce point a fait l'objet de simulations sur calculateur massivement parallèle. Nous avons finalement tente d'utiliser ces résultats de simulations de couches de mélange pour tester des modèles physiques de turbulence
