Les concentrations absolues d'ions o sont mesurées par photo détachement laser à partir de l'impulsion de courant de décharge induite par la perturbation laser. Ce diagnostic a été validé par la mesure directe à l'aide d'une cavité hyperfréquence de l'impulsion de densité électronique photo détachée. Des concentrations d'ions négatifs de l'ordre de la densité électronique ont été mesurées. Les oscillations observées lors de la relaxation des impulsions de densité électronique et de courant de décharge sont interprétées en terme d'excitation d'une onde acoustique ionique, dont la vitesse de propagation dépend de la population des ions négatifs. Les résultats des concentrations d'ions négatifs mesurées sont interprétés à l'aide d'un modèle cinétique. On montre que ces ions sont confinés au centre de la décharge par le champ de charge d'espace, et ne peuvent atteindre la paroi. Ils sont créés par attachement dissociatif à partir des molécules d'oxygène à l'état fondamental et à l'état métastable singulet, et sont détachés par collision avec les atomes et les molécules métastables à l'état singulet. Leur concentration relative moyenne par rapport à la densité électronique est donnée par le rapport des coefficients d'attachement et de détachement. Les diagnostics mis au point, et le code de calcul développé pourront être utilisés pour étudier d'autres gaz électronégatifs

L'ensemble des travaux aboutit aux conclusions suivantes:(1) Le changement local de la distribution des molécules neutres induit par les variations de température du gaz semble être le facteur le plus capable d’expliquer la distribution spatiale de la lumière émise.(2) La section efficace différentielle de collisions électrons-molécules pourrait jouer un grand rôle en particulier en raison d'une quantité importante de molécules excitées vibrationnellement dans la décharge.(3) L'action des métastables peut devenir importante pour un courant fort.En somme, la décharge luminescente anormale ne peut être modélisée complètement sans tenir compte des modifications complexes du milieu produites par le courant de décharge.
