Book excerpt: In the Old Testament, God's people saw Him in a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. In the New Testament, the religious world thought they had God in a box behind the veil. When Jesus died, the veil was rent and God went public. In an ever changing world where the darkness prides itself by proclaiming they have psychic insights for every person, the church has become anemic, without as much as a sign, a miracle or a wonder. Where do we go from here? Faith is at a level the church has never known before. It is a faith being seen in the "here and now". We must understand what Jesus meant when He said, "I only do what I hear and what I see My Father do and say." You are about to enter that eternal zone, where time is losing its grip on the earth. Eternity is Invading Time.

Download or read book God Is! written by Dr. Jo Anna Watson and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-01-05 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This generation has seen more scientific discoveries and an increase in greater intellectual knowledge than ever before. As a result, a worldview has immerged that puts its “faith” in human potential, intelligence, and self-gratification rather than in God. This generation is also witnessing a greater increase in biblical prophecy being fulfilled along with an increase of supernatural phenomenon. Is it possible that God, because of His extreme love for humanity, is zealously declaring that He is the Creator who holds all power and authority over life, death, time, and seasons? Is it possible that this may be the last generation before our Messiah returns? Each of us has a worldview, and that worldview is very important because it determines our behavior. Our behavior, which influences how we think, feel, and act, is guided by what we believe to be true about God. Such truth is very important because it affects our goals, relationships, our peace of mind, and our destiny, as well as the destiny of our nations. It is my desire to posit that truth is a personal knowledge of God and the truths in the Bible are relevant today, for it has all the answers to life, death, time, and our future. What you believe about God and the Bible will determine your destiny. Only dare to believe!
Book Synopsis This Beautiful Truth by : Sarah Clarkson
Download or read book This Beautiful Truth written by Sarah Clarkson and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2021-06-08 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a broken world. Amid the daily realities of sickness and isolation, disappointment and pain, it can be profoundly difficult to grasp the real goodness of God. But this is where God breaks into our darkness with beauty. In the wonder of creation, in art or film, story or song, in the kindness of his people and the good they create, God breaks into our pain in a tangible way, teaching us to trust his kindness and hope for his healing. Beauty is a voice singing into our suffering, beckoning us toward restoration. In This Beautiful Truth, Sarah Clarkson shares her own encounters with beauty in the midst of her decade-long struggle with mental illness, depression, and doubt. In a voice both vulnerable and reflective, she paints a compelling picture of the God who reaches out to us in a real and powerful way through the "taste and see" goodness of what he has made and what he continues to create amid our darkness. "To recognize and trust God's gift in pain," she writes, "empowers us to create and love as powerful witnesses to God's healing love in a hopeless world." If you want to renew your capacity to recognize and encounter God's beauty in your life, this hope-filled book will show you the way.
Book Synopsis Christ and Time, 3rd Edition by : Oscar Cullmann
Download or read book Christ and Time, 3rd Edition written by Oscar Cullmann and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2018-08-17 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The object of the present work is to determine what is central in the Christian proclamation. We are tempted to represent as the ‘kernel’ or ‘essence’ of this proclamation that which appeals to us personally, and to consider as external and dispensable ‘framework’ that which is strange to us. It is due to the richness of the Christian message that the question as to the central element from which all the other features are to be explained arises at all, and the endeavor to determine this central element must be designated the one great task of New Testament scholarship, and perhaps of all Christian theology.” —From the Foreword
Book Synopsis The Road to Unfreedom by : Timothy Snyder
Download or read book The Road to Unfreedom written by Timothy Snyder and published by Crown. This book was released on 2019-04-09 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the author of On Tyranny comes a stunning new chronicle of the rise of authoritarianism from Russia to Europe and America. “A brilliant analysis of our time.”—Karl Ove Knausgaard, The New Yorker With the end of the Cold War, the victory of liberal democracy seemed final. Observers declared the end of history, confident in a peaceful, globalized future. This faith was misplaced. Authoritarianism returned to Russia, as Vladimir Putin found fascist ideas that could be used to justify rule by the wealthy. In the 2010s, it has spread from east to west, aided by Russian warfare in Ukraine and cyberwar in Europe and the United States. Russia found allies among nationalists, oligarchs, and radicals everywhere, and its drive to dissolve Western institutions, states, and values found resonance within the West itself. The rise of populism, the British vote against the EU, and the election of Donald Trump were all Russian goals, but their achievement reveals the vulnerability of Western societies. In this forceful and unsparing work of contemporary history, based on vast research as well as personal reporting, Snyder goes beyond the headlines to expose the true nature of the threat to democracy and law. To understand the challenge is to see, and perhaps renew, the fundamental political virtues offered by tradition and demanded by the future. By revealing the stark choices before us--between equality or oligarchy, individuality or totality, truth and falsehood--Snyder restores our understanding of the basis of our way of life, offering a way forward in a time of terrible uncertainty.
Book Synopsis Knowledge of the Self-Revealing God in the Thought of Thomas Forsyth Torrance by : John Douglas Morrison
Download or read book Knowledge of the Self-Revealing God in the Thought of Thomas Forsyth Torrance written by John Douglas Morrison and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2005-02-07 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work examines Thomas Forsyth Torrance's concern for the modern re-entrenchment of dualism as it has negatively affected the Christian faith and the realist knowledge of God in Christ. Additionally, an analysis is made of Torrance's program to faithfully restore theological thinking, theological science, and true objectivity out of the Christocentric-Trinitarian self-disclosure of God via the modern return to critical realist epistemology in the physical sciences (e.g., Einstein, Polanyi). The study concludes with a critical examination of the adequacy and completeness of Torrance's endeavor (the problem of residual dualism) in the light of his own theological and redemptive concerns.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Could a work of revelation be justified as a viable theological project today, especially in light of some modern sceptics questioning its validity as a doctrinal discipline? Engaging with the work of theologians such as Karl Barth, Paul Tillich and Colin Gunton, Chung explores and justifies revelation and mediation in the theology of T.F.Torrance and argues that Torrance's distinctiveness is able to contribute significantly to current debate and bring a fresh perspective to the theological landscape.

Book Synopsis How Will It All End? by : Dr. Felix J. Rolle II
Download or read book How Will It All End? written by Dr. Felix J. Rolle II and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-08-09 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells of things which must take place. It makes known "the events of the end-times." It speaks to assure you that there is a reckoning day to come for everyone and everything. There is a Judgment Day. The book of Revelation is documentation and proof that God has set forth and declared a time of reckoning for everything under the sun. He has made this truth known so that no one can truthfully say "I didn't know!" Even though the book of Revelation is an exposure of Jesus Christ's future ministry, some have described the vast amount of extraterrestrial information contained in it in different ways. If Revelation is a forecast of universal history, then it would be frightening to deal casually with this book. However, you can find some comfort in the Scriptures, for it reveals that there is a blessing upon everyone who receives and adheres to the prophecy of this book. Keep in mind that Revelation has written to "His servants" in the various churches and not to spiritual leaders only. Therefore, remove your fears, and accept the gravity and truthfulness of Revelation so that you do not take it for granted. Blessed is he who is not offended by this publication, as the entire work is based on the written Word of God.

Book Synopsis Religious Pluralism and Christian Truth by : Joseph S. O'Leary
Download or read book Religious Pluralism and Christian Truth written by Joseph S. O'Leary and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-02-25 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second of three essays in fundamental theology--along with Questioning Back (1985) and Conventional and Absolute Truth (2015)--which attempt to reassess the status of Christian doctrinal language within the contemporary "regime of truth." Reflecting on the reality of religious pluralism as the governing horizon of theology today, it proposes that the very notion of religious truth needs to be rethought. In a dialogue with Derrida it argues that the effects of dissemination and differance have indeed unsettled any project of pinning down truth in a definitive, substantial way, while at the same time it defends the objectivity of concretely situated truth-judgments as more than merely an effect of the play of language. The Buddhist conceptions of emptiness, conventional truth, and skillful means--further explored in Philosophie occidentale et concepts bouddhistes (2011)--allow a positive religious significance to be found in this mutation in the status of Christian truth.
Book Synopsis The Burden of Soren Kierkegaard by : Edward J. Carnell
Download or read book The Burden of Soren Kierkegaard written by Edward J. Carnell and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-11-01 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the wide influence of Soren Kirkegaard's writings upon modern Christian thought is now generally recognized, the insights of the Danish knight of faith have often been misread and misinterpreted by those who seek to canonize their own theologies by appealing to Kierkegaard. The fact that modern Christian thought owes much to Kierkegaard does not mean that modern Christian thought speaks fo Kierkegaard at all points. In this short study, Carnell has allowed Kierkegaard to speak for himself, thus providing a valuable glimpse into the thought of the great Danish philosopher-theologian. Restricting the number of critical comments (including a short closing chapter entitled Yes and No), Carnell has written a short survey of Kierkegaard's thought with generous documentation from his writings. The two major theses which the author discusses are existential living and Truth is subjectivity. He elucidates the latter thesis by explaining the four affirmative elements in Kierkegaard's idea of subjective truth: faith, suffering, hope, and love. Carnell concludes by stating that because Kierkegaard strove to enrich the body of Christ by developing a fresh interpretation of spiritual truth, his books should be read, and read again. This volume will do more than encourage readers to do that; it will help them when they do.
