Las diferentes modalidades que asume la formación del talento humano se generan como una respuesta a los requerimientos de los entornos sociales. La educación a distancia fue la necesaria y útil respuesta que provocó la demanda de educación hacia sectores desplazados por los métodos tradicionales, es decir desde sus orígenes esta modalidad, tuvo carácter innovador. La educación a distancia ha experimentado una rápida evolución, las últimas generaciones en su desarrollo incorporan redes (e-learning) y utilizan dispositivos móviles (m-learning). Esta investigación centra su foco en la dinámica del modelo educativo a distancia apoyado en dispositivos móviles para determinar el nivel de satisfacción de los usuarios de estos servicios innovadores. La metodología empleada en el estudio del caso es mixta (cualicuantitativa) y el acercamiento se hace desde dos perspectivas fundamentales del fenómeno: el aprendizaje y el uso de dispositivos móviles. Aunque no todos los estudiantes que respondieron el Cuestionario utilizaron dispositivos móviles en las actividades del Curso seleccionado, los resultados de la investigación revelan que los estudiantes que sí utilizaron dispositivos móviles en el Curso, mostraron un nivel de satisfacción alto tanto en el tema aprendizaje, como en el uso de dispositivos móviles. Esto evidencia que el servicio educativo que se ofrece en la Institución huésped goza de aceptación entre los estudiantes. El hecho de apoyar el aprendizaje con dispositivos móviles permite considerar que las instituciones de educación superior inmersas en el modelo educativo a distancia empiezan a generar opciones innovadoras para el diseño de cursos orientados a los usuarios a través del aprendizaje en movimiento. Los primeros pasos en este sentido generan entre los usuarios expectativas y desafíos para unos, resistencia y temor, así como total indiferencia en otros, respecto del uso de estas herramientas. El siglo XXI ofrece condiciones de inmediatez, instantaneidad, oportunidad y movilidad para la información; apoyar el aprendizaje en los modelos educativos a distancia con dispositivos móviles es un reto para instituciones de avanzada, que deberán desplegar estrategias innovadoras para incorporar esta dinámica en el acontecer cotidiano de la educación.
