Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charles Carter (1887-1968) wrote this book in London during World War II. It was his first book in more than a dozen years. In this book, Carter turns his attention to fundamentals. Why the planets are what they are. How the Sun differs from the Moon. How Jupiter and Mercury are interrelated. Having had his fill of aspects in terms of the planets, in this book Carter tells us of aspects in terms of signs and the elements they represent. A planet in a fire sign, in square to a planet in an earth sign, Carter says, is an obviously difficult combination: Fire consumes earth, or, earth smothers fire. On the other hand, air/water squares are much less stressful. Carter was particularly fascinated by the nativities of Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler, his contemporaries. Charts for both men are given. Mussolini he declares to be a "bombastic Italian dictator", but Hitler remained a puzzle. ___________________ Charles E.O. Carter, one of the leading astrologers of the 20th century, was President of the Astrological Lodge at the Theosophical Society from 1920 to 1952. He was first Principal of the Faculty of Astrological Studies, which he helped found in 1948. He edited The Astrologer's Quarterly from 1926 until 1959. Essays on the Foundations of Astrology was first published in 1947.

What are our intended life lessons? Shedding new light on these vitally important questions, well-known astrologer Rose Marcus has compiled a collection of illuminating essays by today's foremost evolutionary astrologers. Each contributor offers fascinating perspectives on evolutionary astrology and explores various aspects of Pluto's role in determining the soul's evolving needs and desires. Jeffrey Wolf Green, the world-renowned founder of this specialized field of study, begins the book with an exploration of the four natural evolutionary laws that propel soul growth. Deva Green continues with a discussion of how Pluto drives our evolutionary growth, illustrated with case studies and charts of notable figures such as President Barack Obama. Contributors also explore Pluto's influence on the sexual and relationship characteristics of each zodiacal sign, the fulfillment of human potential, the dynamics between twins, past life regression, the interpretive importance of planetary nodes, and the cultural significance of Pluto entering Capricorn. Features original essays by Jeffrey Wolf Green, Deva Green, Kim Marie, Maurice Fernandez, Kristin Fontana, Patricia L. Walsh, Mark Jones, and Rose Marcus. Praise: "If you have ever wondered about the premises of evolutionary astrology, this book is a must read, covering many dimensions of the subject expounded by highly respected teachers, lecturers, and authors of the system as well as the founder himself, Jeffrey Wolf Green. It is insightful, inspirational, and even controversial, providing the reader with much to ponder."—CHRIS MCRAE, professional astrologer and vice president of the International Society of Astrological Research "[Insights into Evolutionary Astrology] is one of the most insightful and original books on the subject of astrology that is currently in print. The articles are very diverse, well thought out and presented in an easily and understandable fashion for both the practicing astrologer and interested lay person." —LYNN NEESE, former president of both the Seattle Astrologers Association and the Washington Astrologers Association

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This has long been considered one the best books for the beginner and intermediate in Astrology, having been written by a man who taught thousands of people over many years. It was written because the author wanted to remove the complexities that often interfere with learning Astrology properly, and bring the process to the reader step-by-step. All of the basic information needed is presented in a clear and understandable way. The reader will gain a clear understanding of the astrological signs, planets, houses, and aspects in chapter one, so that in chapter two, one can put a horoscope together. More detailed information is found in the remaining chapters so by the time one reaches the end of the book, they have all that is needed to work with Astrology in a highly proficient manner. Carter is one of the truly great teachers, and includes important information beyond the basics--but the reader is first able to build a proper foundation. It has been said that this book is the source for much of the more modern works on Astrology, so it would make sense to use the original source, with all of the key information available in one package. As far as teachers of Astrology go, Charles Carter was considered the best of the best.

Book excerpt: The actual beginnings of astrology are unknown and unknowable. The science emerges already highly refined from the utter obscurity of the pre-historic world. The ends of astrology are also unknown. There is already evidence that the perfection of this science will elevate man to an intellectual and social condition far beyond the limitations of our present consciousness. -from "Astrology's Place in the Modern World" In this concise book, one of the preeminent metaphysicists of the 20th century gives us an extraordinarily informative and entertaining survey of the astrological disciplines and beliefs of the ancient Chinese, Tibetans, HIndus, Greeks, Romans, Aztecs, and Arabians. Then, his discussions of astrology as science, religion, and philosophy bring this paranormal system into the contemporary world, and he explains how, in his estimation, that the heavenly bodies, acting as the "foci of intellectual energy," dramatically sway the course of civilization itself. A classic of supernatural spirituality is a must-read for those fascinated by the influence of paranormal belief in the 20th century. American mystic MANLY PALMER HALL (1901-1990) founded the Philosophical Research Society in 1934. He is also the author of The Lost Keys of Freemasonry, The Ways of the Lonely Ones, and The Secret Teachings of All Ages.

Focusing on the public appearance of astrological rhetoric, the essays break new ground for a better understanding of the function of horoscopes in public discourse. The volume's three parts address the use of imperial horoscopes in late antiquity, the transformation of doctrines and rhetorics in Islamic medieval contexts, and the important status of astrology in early modern Europe. The combination of in-depth historical studies and methodological considerations results in an important contribution to religious and cultural studies.
