Book excerpt: Change management is omnipresent in organisations as companies have to transform constantly. This applies not only to large corporations operating in an international context, but also to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Yet executing a change project is accompanied by great challenges and most change initiatives are not entirely successful. Despite the fact that SMEs are the backbone of the German economy little empirical work has been done concerning change management in these companies. Tim Fritzenschaft explores the issue how SMEs can deal with resistance to change and which critical success factors of change management are most important in a transformation project.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1,7, University of Applied Sciences Mainz, course: Change Management, language: English, abstract: Changing customer needs, replacement of the leading Management, new employees or the implementation of new information technology – there are many reasons why organisations change. Change is nowadays a central element of every organisation. Some are driven by the change, others drive the change and are managing it active and foresighted. The surrounding of companies changed and they are on the brink of new challenges with an integrated orientation on profitable customer relations and therefor a successful Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is basically and is a central competitive advantage (Rapp, 2000, p. 35). The implementation of new IT-systems focusing the CRM aspect is important to understand the customer needs and handle the customers adequare to their relation to the organisation. The assimilation of the organisation to the changed market- and environmental terms are leading to deep changes. Changing structures, a new organisation of company divisions, introduction of new managment systems, adjustment of the companys strategy are mostly driven or intensified by the globalisation and are first and foremost concerning the industrial nations (Vahs, 2007, p.281). So changes concern the company, executives and employees, for all these affected participants a change means to learn new working techniques, the handling of new IT or the coorperation with new colleagues. Employees often react to this kind of changes with ressistance. Change Management (CM) operates these change processes and reacts to the ressistance of the affected people. Further more it handles the implementation of CRM, which failed numerous in the past. The reasons are mainly the neglect of the affected people, their positions inside the companys and the still prevailing opinion about CRM as a pure IT-system (Pattloch 2001, p.26).

Book excerpt: This book shows an innovative way for managers to gain a better understanding of emotions in teams and organizational units and thus positively influence agile development in the context of digital transformation of companies. Digitalization does not just lead to technical changes. It dramatically changes the way employees work with each other as well as how executives play their roles. In an agile working environment, middle management in particular loses power, influence, and relevance, and customer relationships are subject to greater affectivity. The result is an increased emotionalization of the actors, which should be recognized and understood prior to designing the emotional landscape of the organization and to developing and implementing successful business models. The author introduces various conventional and AI-based instruments based on current research for handling emotions, supported by practical concepts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brands started out as communication tools to influence the image of companies or products (inside-out thinking) but have developed into channels of social forces. Powerful brands impact not just customer decisions but also markets and social institutions, such as fashion trends, city life, or even social movements. This book explores the implications of Niklas Luhmann’s theory of social systems for the theory and practice of agile brand management, in particular highlighting the central role of brand aesthetics and of brands as channels for mutual education between companies and consumers. Since the rise of social media, “perfect” brands have become the mirror of community values as the communities themselves develop brand content. Brands themselves become “living systems” and evolve like systems do. The author introduces systems theory to provide a conceptual framework that integrates the different views of branding: inside-out and outside-in thinking. This Luhmannian theory of branding is discussed against the current background of (Western) societies, which are undergoing a broad shift from hard to soft selling in marketing, influenced by social media. The book is not about whether closed systems analysis and discussion can or should replace traditional management; moreover, it emphasizes the fruitful insights and demonstrates that the power of management is limited and should be extended by looking at the means of closed systems. This book will be of primary value to scholars with an interest in systems theory and thinking, brand theory, and management. The interdisciplinary approach also makes the book a valuable resource for those researching change management, agile management, and sociology.

This book was released on 2015-02-01 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
