Book Synopsis Relaxed Barrier Function Based Model Predictive Control by : Christian Feller
Download or read book Relaxed Barrier Function Based Model Predictive Control written by Christian Feller and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2017 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis, we introduce the novel concept of relaxed barrier function based model predictive control and present a comprehensive theoretical and algorithmic framework for the design, analysis, and implementation of relaxed barrier function based MPC approaches. Instead of treating the underlying optimization as an idealized static map, a key motive of the MPC results and algorithms presented in this thesis is to study the interconnected dynamics of controlled plant and iterative optimization algorithm in an integrated barrier function based framework and to analyze the resulting overall closed-loop system both from a systems theoretic and algorithmic perspective. One of the presented main results is a novel class of barrier function based anytime MPC algorithms that guarantee important properties of the closed-loop system independently of the number of optimization algorithm iterations that are performed at each sampling step. The obtained theoretical results are illustrated by various numerical examples and benchmark tests as well as by an experimental case study in which the proposed class of barrier function based MPC algorithms is applied to the predictive control of a self-driving car.

Book Synopsis Design of Distributed and Robust Optimization Algorithms. A Systems Theoretic Approach by : Simon Michalowsky
Download or read book Design of Distributed and Robust Optimization Algorithms. A Systems Theoretic Approach written by Simon Michalowsky and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2020-04-17 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimization algorithms are the backbone of many modern technologies. In this thesis, we address the analysis and design of optimization algorithms from a systems theoretic viewpoint. By properly recasting the algorithm design as a controller synthesis problem, we derive methods that enable a systematic design of tailored optimization algorithms. We consider two specific classes of optimization algorithms: (i) distributed, and (ii) robust optimization algorithms. Concerning (i), we utilize ideas from geometric control in an innovative fashion to derive a novel methodology that enables the design of distributed optimization algorithms under minimal assumptions on the graph topology and the structure of the optimization problem. Concerning (ii), we employ robust control techniques to establish a framework for the analysis of existing algorithms as well as the design of novel robust optimization algorithms with specified guarantees.
Book Synopsis Algorithms and Data Structures by : Helmut Knebl
Download or read book Algorithms and Data Structures written by Helmut Knebl and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-31 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a central topic in any computer science curriculum. To distinguish this textbook from others, the author considers probabilistic methods as being fundamental for the construction of simple and efficient algorithms, and in each chapter at least one problem is solved using a randomized algorithm. Data structures are discussed to the extent needed for the implementation of the algorithms. The specific algorithms examined were chosen because of their wide field of application. This book originates from lectures for undergraduate and graduate students. The text assumes experience in programming algorithms, especially with elementary data structures such as chained lists, queues, and stacks. It also assumes familiarity with mathematical methods, although the author summarizes some basic notations and results from probability theory and related mathematical terminology in the appendices. He includes many examples to explain the individual steps of the algorithms, and he concludes each chapter with numerous exercises.

Book Synopsis Computer Aided Systems Theory - EUROCAST '91 by : Franz Pichler
Download or read book Computer Aided Systems Theory - EUROCAST '91 written by Franz Pichler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1992-04-08 with total page 780 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains a selection of papers presented at the second European workshop EUROCAST '91, held in Krems, Austria, in April 1991. It gives an overview of the current state of Computer Aided Systems Theory research and its relation to CAD applications in the engineering fields. CAST research requires the application of the most advanced information processing technology in software and hardware for the implementation of CAST method base systems. Engineers in the field of information and control engineering have the opportunity in CAST to present the state ofthe art in modeling tools to computer scientists. EUROCAST '91 proved that CAST research is still in an early state of development. The papers in the volume are organized into sections on systems theory and CAST methodology, modeling environments, CAST method base systems and artificial vision, and information and control systems.

Book Synopsis Automatic Coding: Choice of Data Structures by : LOW
Download or read book Automatic Coding: Choice of Data Structures written by LOW and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2013-12-20 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1.0 2 information structures, and the runtime efficiency available using lower level data structures. We believe these runtime inefficiencies can be remedied by providing a library of representations for the information structures and a user assisted automatic system to choose appropriate elements from this library for the user's programs. The main problems in such an automatic approach are: 1). Building a library of representations; 2). Characterizing the properties of these representations; 3). understanding how the user's program actually uses the abstract information structures; and -4). efficiently matching the user program needs with the properties of the known representations. The research reported here is an attempt to demonstrate the feasibility of such automatic representation selection. We allow the user to express data in terms of relations, sets, and sequences. Our system then obtains information by analysis of the program, execution statement profiles and interrogation of the user. Using that information, the system selects efficient (in terms of time and space) low level implementations for the user's information structures from a fixed library of information structure representations. Though we have considered only a few abstract information structures (those available in our programming language, SAIL) we believe the techniques used in this system are generally applicable.
