Book excerpt: Dielectrophoretic filtration experiments were conducted on glass, polyester, dacron, Teflon, wool, acrylic and polypropylene filter media. A polydispersed (sigma g = 2.0, ammd = 0.95 .mu. m) sodium chloride particle was used as a test aerosol. All materials exhibited significant increases in efficiency with increasing field strengths. Efficiencies of greater than 99 percent could be obtained from glass fiber mats using a 13 kV/cm electric field at 16.3 cm/s face velocity.

Download or read book Electrostatic Air Filters Generated by Electric Fields written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents theoretical and experimental findings on fibrous filters converted to electrostatic operation by a nonionizing electric field. Compared to a conventional fibrous filter, the electrostatic filter has a higher efficiency and a longer, useful life. The increased efficiency is attributed to a time independent attraction between polarized fibers and charged, polarized particles and a time dependent attraction between charged fibers and charged, polarized particles. The charge on the fibers results from a dynamic process of charge accumulation due to the particle deposits and a charge dissipation due to the fiber conductivity.
Download or read book Air Filtration written by R.C. Brown and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 1993-11-02 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need for clean air has probably never been greater. Many industrial employees need to avoid exposure to airborne particulates, while certain industrial processes demand clean air of exceptional quality. Medical and biological fields rely on sterile air, while filtration can improve air quality in offices, homes and all types of transport. Filters act in a variety of complex and subtle ways. Each chapter introduces its subject matter simply, before tackling the problem in greater depth. The book therefore provides an excellent basis for detailed study, but is also invaluable to anyone needing an overview of the subject.
Book Synopsis Industrial Chemistry by : Dexter Harvey & Nicky Rutledge
Download or read book Industrial Chemistry written by Dexter Harvey & Nicky Rutledge and published by Scientific e-Resources. This book was released on 2019-04-01 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial Chemistry is a branch of chemistry in modern science. In industrial chemistry in modern science, we study about compounds or elements, their properties, and applications; which are used in industries. Since the time of Industrial Revolution, human intellect throughout the civilized world has been driving this Chemical Revolution. The book Industrial Chemistry is an excellent source of technological and economic information on the most important precursors and intermediates used in the chemical industry. It should be in the hand of every higher-graduate student, especially if chemical technology is not part of the study, like in many college universities. This book on industrial chemistry provides an overview of the new trends and hot topics by describing the challenge of designing industrial chemical processes that are up-to-date, sustainable, and economically feasible. The text in this book is throughout supplemented with diagrams and tables. The treatment of all topics is in a cogent, lucid style aimed at enabling the reader to grasp the information quickly and easily. This useful book is specifically intended for practicing chemical engineers, industrial chemists and research students.

Book excerpt: We summarize the results of a seven-year research project for the US Department of Energy (DOE) to develop electric air filters that extend the service life of high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters used in the nuclear industry. This project was unique to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), and it entailed comprehensive theory, laboratory studies, and hardware development. We present our work in three major areas: (1) theory of and instrumentation for filter test methods, (2) theoretical and laboratory studies of electric air filters, and (3) development and evaluation of eight experimental electric air filters.
