Book Synopsis Depth-resolved Band Gap in Cu(In, Ga)(S, Se)2 Thin Films by :
Download or read book Depth-resolved Band Gap in Cu(In, Ga)(S, Se)2 Thin Films written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The surface composition of Cu(In, Ga)(S, Se)2 (?CIGSSe?) thin films intrinsically deviates from the corresponding bulk composition, which also modifies the electronic structure and thus the optical properties. We have used a combination of photon and electron spectroscopies with different information depths to gain depth-resolved information on the band gap energy (Eg) in CIG(S)Se thin films. We find an increasing Eg with decreasing information depth, indicating the formation of a surface region with significantly higher Eg. This Eg-widened surface region extends further into the bulk of the sulfur-free CIGSe thin film compared to the CIGSSe thin film.

Book Synopsis Thin Film Physics And Devices: Fundamental Mechanism, Materials And Applications For Thin Films by : Jianguo Zhu
Download or read book Thin Film Physics And Devices: Fundamental Mechanism, Materials And Applications For Thin Films written by Jianguo Zhu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2021-06-18 with total page 706 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin films have an extremely broad range of applications from electronics and optics to new materials and devices. Collaborative and multidisciplinary efforts from physicists, materials scientists, engineers and others have established and advanced a field with key pillars constituting (i) the synthesis and processing of thin films, (ii) the understanding of physical properties in relation to the nanometer scale, (iii) the design and fabrication of nano-devices or devices with thin film materials as building blocks, and (iv) the design and construction of novel tools for characterization of thin films.Against the backdrop of the increasingly interdisciplinary field, this book sets off to inform the basics of thin film physics and thin film devices. Readers are systematically introduced to the synthesis, processing and application of thin films; they will also study the formation of thin films, their structure and defects, and their various properties — mechanical, electrical, semiconducting, magnetic, and superconducting. With a primary focus on inorganic thin film materials, the book also ventures on organic materials such as self-assembled monolayers and Langmuir-Blodgett films. This book will be effective as a teaching or reference material in the various disciplines, ranging from Materials Science and Engineering, Electronic Science and Engineering, Electronic Materials and Components, Semiconductor Physics and Devices, to Applied Physics and more. The original Chinese publication has been instrumental in this purpose across many Chinese universities and colleges.

Book Synopsis Thin Films and Heterostructures for Oxide Electronics by : Satishchandra B. Ogale
Download or read book Thin Films and Heterostructures for Oxide Electronics written by Satishchandra B. Ogale and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-11-21 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oxides form a broad subject area of research and technology development which encompasses different disciplines such as materials science, solid state chemistry, physics etc. The aim of this book is to demonstrate the interplay of these fields and to provide an introduction to the techniques and methodologies involving film growth, characterization and device processing. The literature in this field is thus fairly scattered in different research journals covering one or the other aspect of the specific activity. This situation calls for a book that will consolidate this information and thus enable a beginner as well as an expert to get an overall perspective of the field, its foundations, and its projected progress.

Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Solid State Engineering by : Manijeh Razeghi
Download or read book Fundamentals of Solid State Engineering written by Manijeh Razeghi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-08 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Solid State Engineering is structured in two major parts. It first addresses the basic physics concepts, which are at the base of solid state matter in general and semiconductors in particular. The second part reviews the technology for modern Solid State Engineering. This includes a review of compound semiconductor bulk and epitaxial thin films growth techniques, followed by a description of current semiconductor device processing and nano-fabrication technologies. A few examples of semiconductor devices and a description of their theory of operational are then discussed, including transistors, semiconductor lasers, and photodetectors.

Download or read book Fundamentals of Solid State Engineering written by M. Razeghi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Fundamentals of Solid State Engineering, 2nd Edition, provides a multi-disciplinary introduction to solid state engineering, combining concepts from physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, materials science and mechanical engineering. Revised throughout, this third edition includes new topics such as electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions, in addition to the Kane effective mass method. A chapter devoted to quantum mechanics has been expanded to cover topics such as the harmonic oscillator, the hydrogen atom, the quantum mechanical description of angular momentum and the origin of spin. This textbook also features an improved transport theory description, which now goes beyond Drude theory, discussing the Boltzmann approach. Introducing students to the rigorous quantum mechanical way of thinking about and formulating transport processes, this textbook presents the basic physics concepts and thorough treatment of semiconductor characterization technology, designed for solid state engineers."--Publisher's website.
