Außerdem wird das Ziel verfolgt, populäre Führungsstile auf ihre Eignung für eine ermutigende Führung hin zu prüfen. Die Forschungsfrage zum Zusammenhang zwischen ermutigender Führung und der Motivation der geführten Mitarbeiter wurde anhand aktueller wissenschaftlicher Studien, der Analyse älterer Texte zurückgehend auf Alfred Adler (1870-1937) sowie Quellen mit aktuellem Bezug beantwortet. Die Literatur wurde ausgewertet, indem relevante Stellen aus dem Text herausgearbeitet und in der Analyse berücksichtigt wurden. Die Informationen wurden systematisch aufbereitet und dargestellt. Es wurde mit Studien, Journals, Lehrbüchern, sowie, bei Erklärungen der Individualpsychologie, auch mit populärwissenschaftlichen Quellen gearbeitet. Besonderer Wert wurde auf Peer-Reviewed-Studien gelegt. Das Ergebnis dieser Auswertung ist ein tieferes Verständnis dafür, wie sich der Zusammenhang zwischen ermutigender Führung und der Motivation der geführten Mitarbeiter zeigt.

Sie wollen gefordert aber auch gefördert werden. Ein großer Teil der Mitarbeiter will nicht unbedingt eine steile Karriere machen, sondern will ein ausgeglichenes Verhältnis zwischen seiner Arbeit und seinem „anderen“ persönlichen Leben haben (Work-Life-Balance). Eine Zufriedenheit im beruflichen Bereich gepaart mit der Möglichkeit sich auch privat in der Freizeit sinnvoll zu beschäftigen, sich in Gemeinschaften einzubringen oder noch die Möglichkeit zu haben sich ein soziales Umfeld aufzubauen natürlich dann noch verbunden mit einem Verdienst, der dies alles ermöglicht ist das Ziel vieler Menschen. Auf der anderen Seite habe ich in meiner beruflichen Laufbahn auch viele Mitarbeiter kennengelernt, die auf keinen Fall Eigeninitiative zeigen wollten. Ihr Streben war es primär 8 Stunden zu arbeiten, die Arbeit vorgegeben zu bekommen und die Probleme, die möglicherweise dabei auftreten, sollten von anderen gelöst werden. Wie wollen sie als Führungskraft solche Mitarbeiter dazu bewegen sich in Gruppenarbeit oder bei der Einführung von Lean Manufacturing zu engagieren? Entlassen und neue Mitarbeiter einstellen kann nicht die Lösung sein da gerade in heutigen Zeiten wo sehr viele ungelernte Arbeitskräfte das Potenzial freier Arbeitskräfte bilden, auch das nicht funktionieren wird. Es bedarf also meiner Meinung nach einer Führungskraft und einer Führungskultur, die individuell auf den jeweiligen Mitarbeiter eingeht, ihn fördert und gemäß nach seinem individuellen Wissen und Können einsetzt. Es liegt also ausschließlich an der Führung der Mitarbeiter wie gut oder wie schlecht ein Unternehmen funktioniert und dieses Zusammenspiel möchte ich in den folgenden Ausführungen aufzeigen.

Since then the book has gone through five more editions and has been translated into Spanish and Italian. The present English translation is based on the sixth German edition. The author was Professor of Economics at the University of Freiburg, Germany. Professor Eucken was a student at a time when the Historical School dominated the teaching of econo mics at the German universities. Although, at the beginning of his career, he did some work along the lines of the Historical School, neither the ~ims nor the methods of historical research the field of economics as practised by the representatives in of the Historical School satisfied him; and the fact that the members of this school were unable to explain the causes of economic events such as the German inflation after World War I was an added reason for him to turn to economic theory. He became, among German economists, the foremost opponent of the Historical School, which he criticised in several publica tions. Through his wrItings and his teaching he contributed his share to the revival of interest in economic theory which was noticeable in the 'twenties. And he was one of the few economists left in Germany who helped to keep this interest alive during the 'thirties and during World War II. During this time he published Kapitaltheoretische Untersuchungen (1936), and the present volume, which immediately gave rise to an extensive discussion in German economic journals.
