Book excerpt: Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (September 24, 1896 – December 21, 1940) was an American author of novels and short stories, whose works are the paradigmatic writings of the Jazz Age. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Fitzgerald is considered a member of the "Lost Generation" of the 1920s. He finished four novels: "This Side of Paradise", "The Beautiful and Damned", "The Great Gatsby" (his most famous), and "Tender Is the Night". A fifth, unfinished novel, "The Love of the Last Tycoon", was published posthumously. Fitzgerald also wrote many short stories that treat themes of youth and promise along with age and despair. Fitzgerald's work has been adapted into films many times. His short story, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", was the basis for a 2008 film. "Tender Is the Night" was filmed in 1962, and made into a television miniseries in 1985. "The Beautiful and Damned" was filmed in 1922 and 2010. "The Great Gatsby" has been the basis for numerous films of the same name, spanning nearly 90 years: 1926, 1949, 1974, 2000, and 2013 adaptations. In addition, Fitzgerald's own life from 1937 to 1940 was dramatized in 1958 in "Beloved Infidel".

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Know your power to heal: words can destroy you or heal you-act like a balm, a solvent, a solution to a problem. What to do? What to do? Air your grievances and allow the other person to air his or hers. Just as you want to be listened to, listen to the other. Honor their perspective. Their perspective comes from their perception. All perception comes from the ego. The ego is insane, Therefore, all perception will be distorted. Everything is seen through the filter of your experience. Learn to replace perception with knowing. Knowing comes from the Truth. Knowing comes from the Divine, from Spirit. Knowing is part of the Oneness of Me, of Who I Am, of Who You Are. You are One with Me, One with the Father. We are One, One Being, One Substance, One Light. You are the Light of the World Just as you cannot separate the different particles of Light from the whole, we cannot separate you from the whole. We see you as One. The kingdom of God is within you. I AM within you. You are within Me. There is nothing else. You only understand the connection to Me by going within. You reach Me from within. There is nothing outside of you but what you put there. You look outside of yourself for validation of everything. You won't find it there. It doesn't exist outside of self. It exists within." Book excerpt: FIRST IN A NEW SERIES! Best friends Kai, Sawyer, and Axl worked hard to make Caswallawn Security the booming success that it is. As for love, marriage, and commitment, those are way down on their priority list... Kai Manning is unhappy that Caswallawn is making Mercy, Virginia, its permanent headquarters—he doesn’t understand this quaint, crazy town, and he doesn’t want to settle down, period. A rough childhood made him fiercely independent, and he’s determined to rely on nothing and no one. So the moment he lays eyes on Flick, he knows he’s in trouble... Local baker Felicity “Flick” Sturgiss is not looking for a man. She’s done giving her all to relationships that give nothing back. But Kai is undeniably hot. He may look like bad news, but he’s not going to be in town for long, and she’s dealing with a lot right now—she deserves to have some fun. When a family emergency calls Sawyer away, Kai must remain in Mercy to hold down the fort. Now, Kai and Flick’s plan for a quick fling falls to the wayside (just like their torn-off clothing), leaving them wondering if they can keep their hands—and their hearts—to themselves... Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Secrets to Emotional Wealth explores the critical importance that connecting with and processing feelings has on our ability to achieve happiness, love, and meaning in our lives. It also describes the six core feelings and explores how the way in which how we learn to come to terms with these feelings during our early lives results in creating defenses to avoid facing feelings. It also explores the importance of the beliefs that we establish early in life, based on conclusions we draw from both information and experience, many of which are false. These beliefs are reinforced as time goes on, distorting our core selves, and creating a false reality that is inconsistent with our basic nature. Secrets to Emotional wealth shows that we each possess within ourselves the ability to be truly happy, the gaining of a higher level of consciousness, and the powerful realization that we are indeed the architects of our own reality.

Combining clear advice and vivid case examples, Being Single in a Couples' World gives all of us the tools we need to find our way to a healthier self and more meaningful relationships.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens when you finally marry the man you fell head over heels with and soon discover that he has been unfaithful not once, but twice and still striving to overcome! After experiencing such devastation, you are soon bombarded with questions like, Is my fairy-tale wedding over? Did I not hear the voice of God clearly? Did I use this method of marriage as a defense to comfort my fears and doubts, or did I marry the wrong man? For surely, the man whom I love and who loves me will never bring harm to me. Every marriage is unique and designed with a specific purpose and plan. Despite religion, race, or creed, marriages can sometimes be uncertain. Where there are couples that enter into this union strictly for love, others may come together under different circumstances. And when you are genuinely in love, despite any offense, you cannot just turn the switch on and off because love is everlasting. With this element, both individuals can conquer the world, even the sin of adultery! With the brutal pains and agony of adultery, everyone has a breaking point! Oh, how I wished I could have turned back the hands of time. Had I known how destructive this spirit was, I could have planned and prepared for it, but one can never predict life to be sweet without the bitterness of war. But it wasnt until I married my husband that I found that he was not my enemy, and this spirit was indeed an intruder. Did I run and hide? No! I pulled up my sleeves like an old-fashioned woman would and joined him in this battle. From start to finish, we have invested in this marriage and built this relationship on a sacred foundation. Why would I just hand my marriage over? The modern womans evolution is to pack her belongings and dont look back. She is strong and independent, but I am that kind of woman who has embraced the stamina to stay and who is willing to go beyond the vows.

Book excerpt: An executive VP shares thirteen challenges women face in the workplace, their impact, and strategies for women to overcome them and achieve success. Navigating the workforce as a woman can feel like making your way through a minefield. Step too far in one direction, and suddenly, you’re considered bossy and overbearing and difficult to work with. Too far in the other, and you lose your power and voice. And if you try to stay in the middle, you could still be contributing to a long history of stagnant mind-sets that have hindered women from reaching true equality. In The B Words: 13 Words Every Woman Must Navigate for Success, Tricia Kagerer uses her experience and the experiences of other women to help women of all ages and in all walks of life achieve their goals. Kagerer identifies the challenges as —both internal and external—each as a different “B” word, that hold women back both personally and professionally, then explores their impact and outlines strategies for overcoming them. Whether that means navigating difficult relationships with coworkers, building effective professional networks, or confronting one’s own limiting beliefs and biases, Kagerer’s advice shows how we can break through these obstacles and find our way to self-defined success. This book fights for true equality in the workforce and calls for bridges to be built not only between women but between men and women as well, fostering open communication and understanding that will lead to a brighter future. Praise for The B Words “From balance and babies to badasses and bravery, this book packs a punch about living with intention.” —Sharon Orlopp, former Global Chief Diversity Officer, Walmart “The B Words is a great guide, not only for women just starting out, but also for those who have been in the business for years.” —Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas, author & keynote speaker “A must-read for every male leader!
