Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, there have been public concerns about the impact of emerging market multinationals. The expansion of China's multinationals to Europe and the Belt and Road Initiative is a prominent example that has kindled hope but also started to increase awareness of the long-term implications. Based on a systematic analysis of internationalization theories, the role of foreign direct investment and multinational companies combined with in-depth empirical research using case studies in Turkey, Russia, Latin America, Asia and Europe, this timely edited volume addresses opportunities and concerns related to this new trend. It also provides new insights that are highly relevant for scholars, policy makers, regional business agencies and students, as well as the public at large. By focusing on the (potential) impact of the expansion of emerging market multinationals on Europe and by including a long-term perspective, the book offers a fresh perspective on a highly controversial issue.
Book Synopsis Emerging-market Multinational Enterprises in East Central Europe by : Ágnes Szunomár
Download or read book Emerging-market Multinational Enterprises in East Central Europe written by Ágnes Szunomár and published by Palgrave Macmillan. This book was released on 2021-12-08 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rise of multinational enterprises (MNEs) from emerging markets is topical, important and poses a number of questions and challenges that require considerable attention in the future from academia as well as business management. The recent takeovers of high-profile companies in developed or developing countries by non-European emerging-market MNEs (EMNEs) – such as Lenovo, Wanhua (China), Hindalco (India), CVRD (Brazil), Cemex (Mexico), Lukoil (Russia), etc. – as well as the greenfield or brownfield investments of emerging companies (such as Huawei, ZTE, Tata, Pepco, etc.) show a new trend where new kind of firms become major players globally. EMNEs have become important players in several regions around the globe, ranging from the least developed countries of Africa through the developing markets in Latin America and Asia to the developed countries of the United States or the European Union, including East Central European (ECE) countries. EMNEs presence on the global level has resulted in numerous studies in the international literature but those research results barely cover EMNEs’ activities in the ECE region (in the East Central European EU member countries, including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia). The existing books typically focus on the investment activity of a single country or region (such as China or East Asia) but a comprehensive analysis is still missing in this regard. The novelty of this edited volume is that it aims at exploring EMNEs location determinants, strategies, activities and challenges in East Central Europe by discussing its anomalies to the traditional theories as well as to other types of MNEs in the ECE region. The authors focus on EMNEs not only from China but from other important emerging countries, too, such as Russia, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Brazil or South Africa.

Book Synopsis Operating in Emerging Markets by : Luciano Ciravegna
Download or read book Operating in Emerging Markets written by Luciano Ciravegna and published by Pearson Education. This book was released on 2013 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master a complete roadmap for emerging market business success and profitability! Emerging markets are generating unprecedented opportunities, but they are far more complex and risky than they may seem. Profiting in these markets entails retooling business models, products, and strategies to exploit these differences, instead of falling victim to them. Too many American, European and Japanese companies continue to operate with a "developed world" mentality that seeks to merely adapt existing products and strategies, while underestimating the unique challenges of managing a business in radically different contexts. Operating in Emerging Markets draws from real-life examples and today's most valuable research to offer a step-by-step blueprint for improving profitability in emerging markets. Pioneering researchers Dr. Luciano Ciravegna and Dr. Robert Fitzgerald walk you through understanding the true risks and challenges; identifying and investing the right resources; developing the right strategies, products, and processes; and learning from both the successes and failures that have come before you. An indispensable resource for all decision-makers in companies that are (or plan to) operating in emerging markets; and for all graduate business students who may do so in the future. "Publications devoted to rapidly transforming economies are on the rise, but the contribution is often marginal. This new book, Operating in Emerging Markets , authored by Luciano Ciravegna, Robert Fitzgerald, and Sumit Kundu, is an exception. It provides valuable insights into what makes these economies grow and prosper. Most importantly, it responds to the need for practical approaches to tapping emerging markets. Thus it should assist current and future managers in navigating these high-potential but high-risk countries." --S. Tamer Cavusgil, Callaway Professorial Chair and Executive Director, CIBER, J. Mack Robinson College of Business. Georgia State University

Book Synopsis Strategies of Multinational Corporations and Social Regulations by : Xavier Richet
Download or read book Strategies of Multinational Corporations and Social Regulations written by Xavier Richet and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-03-18 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This contributed volume seeks to provide a unique window on the globalization process by analyzing the dynamics of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Europe and Asia, as well as its influence on the renewal of public policies and regulations, both transnational and local. It discusses the link between the trans-nationalization of productive and business systems and the renewal of local regulations in the light of concerns over competitiveness and attractiveness, as well as new social tensions. Multinational corporations (MNCs) as key actors of globalization are central for understanding the new interactions between the global, regional and local dimensions as well as for highlighting the challenges of regulation both at transnational level and within national boundaries. Research approaches along two broad lines are presented: First, a theoretical and empirical approach that examines links between the strategies of multinationals and local public policy in order to contribute to a better understanding of the institutional dynamics of social regulation. Second, a comparative approach that compares regional spaces, with particular attention to Europe on the one hand, and to the two great emerging powers, China and India, on the other.
