Download or read book Em busca da cidadania written by Giza Sales - Stella Mello and published by Editora CRV. This book was released on 2024-07-03 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Como justificar o título desse livro?

Download or read book Educação do campo written by Aracy Alves Martins and published by Autentica. This book was released on 2013-05-02 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. A educação transforma.

Download or read book A Gênese da Relação entre Educação Escolar e Cidadania no Brasil written by Juliana Tiburcio Silveira Fossaluzza and published by Paco Editorial. This book was released on 2017-08-22 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Schooling for Success by : Laura Randall

Book excerpt: The link between economic development and education in Latin America is generally well-recognized. A literate and educated work force is the largest single factor in explaining economic growth. In this study, the editors and contributors survey the various elementary educational systems to investigate the reasons behind the failure of schools to retain students in elementary grades. A group of scholars looks at the current state of education in four countries: Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile, with a view to designing more effective programs for reducing the dropout and grade repetition rates. For each country studied, there is an overview of the school system, teacher training and attitudes, centralized and decentralized planning, curriculum development, and psychological and environmental issues that contribute to school dropout.

Book Synopsis Theology and Sexuality, Reproductive Health, and Rights by : Andre S. Musskopf
Download or read book Theology and Sexuality, Reproductive Health, and Rights written by Andre S. Musskopf and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-01-28 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a project of empirical research on issues of theology, sexuality, and reproductive health and rights. It was carried out by researchers from two theological institutions in Brazil and Colombia in close contact with the grassroots in various civil-society organizations. Numerous studies at twenty-six Latin American institutions on the relation between theology and HIV/AIDS prepared the way for this project. It promotes and applies methodologies for Latin American popular education and participatory action research (PAR). While the project was finalized long before the COVID-19 pandemic hit Latin America and the world, the pandemic gave fresh evidence of the relevance of the project. The present volume is the English translation of the initial Portuguese and Spanish reports about the project, enriched with a new preface. The editors are delighted that this translation will help spread the vital insights from this research to a wider and global readership.
Book Synopsis Rethinking Citizenship Education by : Tristan McCowan
Download or read book Rethinking Citizenship Education written by Tristan McCowan and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2009-03-27 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rethinking Citizenship Education presents a fundamental reassessment of the field. Drawing on empirical research, the book argues that attempting to transmit preconceived notions of citizenship through schools is both unviable and undesirable. The notion of 'curricular transposition' is introduced, a framework for understanding the changes undergone in the passage between the ideals of citizenship, the curricular programmes designed to achieve them, their implementation in practice and the effects on students. The 'leaps' between these different stages make the project of forming students in a mould of predefined citizenship highly problematic. Case studies are presented of contrasting initiatives in Brazil, a country with high levels of political marginalisation, but also significant experiences of participatory democracy. These studies indicate that effective citizenship education depends on a harmonisation or 'seamless enactment' of the stages outlined above. In contrast, provision in countries such as the UK and USA is characterised by disjunctures, showing insufficient involvement of teachers in programme design, and a lack of space for the construction of students' own political understandings. Some more promising directions for citizenship education are proposed, therefore, ones which acknowledge the significance of pedagogical relations and school democratisation, and allow students to develop as political agents in their own right.
