Book Synopsis S.M.A.R.T. Circle Minicourses by : Andrew Chiang-Fung Liu
Download or read book S.M.A.R.T. Circle Minicourses written by Andrew Chiang-Fung Liu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-12-30 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes mini-courses in a Mathematical “Circle,” i.e., an organization that discovers and nurtures young mathematical talents through meaningful extra-curricular activities. This is the third volume in a trilogy describing in particular the S.M.A.R.T. Circle project, which was founded in Edmonton, Canada in 1981. The acronym S.M.A.R.T. stands for Saturday Mathematical Activities, Recreations & Tutorials. This book, Volume III, consists of mini-courses and explains what actually takes place in the Circle. Volume I describes how to run a Circle, and Volume II, consisting of student projects, addresses the purpose of the Circle. All three volumes provide a wealth of resources (mathematical problems, quizzes and games, together with their solutions). The books will be of interest to self-motivated students who want to conduct independent research, teachers who work with these students, and teachers who are currently running or planning to run Mathematical Circles of their own.
Book Synopsis Complex Analysis in One Variable by : Raghavan Narasimhan
Download or read book Complex Analysis in One Variable written by Raghavan Narasimhan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The original edition of this book has been out of print for some years. The appear ance of the present second edition owes much to the initiative of Yves Nievergelt at Eastern Washington University, and the support of Ann Kostant, Mathematics Editor at Birkhauser. Since the book was first published, several people have remarked on the absence of exercises and expressed the opinion that the book would have been more useful had exercises been included. In 1997, Yves Nievergelt informed me that, for a decade, he had regularly taught a course at Eastern Washington based on the book, and that he had systematically compiled exercises for his course. He kindly put his work at my disposal. Thus, the present edition appears in two parts. The first is essentially just a reprint of the original edition. I have corrected the misprints of which I have become aware (including those pointed out to me by others), and have made a small number of other minor changes.
Book Synopsis Topics In Polynomials: Extremal Problems, Inequalities, Zeros by : Gradimir V Milovanovic
Download or read book Topics In Polynomials: Extremal Problems, Inequalities, Zeros written by Gradimir V Milovanovic and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-06-28 with total page 844 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book contains some of the most important results on the analysis of polynomials and their derivatives. Besides the fundamental results which are treated with their proofs, the book also provides an account of the most recent developments concerning extremal properties of polynomials and their derivatives in various metrics with an extensive analysis of inequalities for trigonometric sums and algebraic polynomials, as well as their zeros. The final chapter provides some selected applications of polynomials in approximation theory and computer aided geometric design (CAGD). One can also find in this book several new research problems and conjectures with sufficient information concerning the results obtained to date towards the investigation of their solution.
