Download or read book Structural Concrete written by C. B. Wilby and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural Concrete discusses the design and analysis of reinforced and prestressed concrete structural components and structures. Each of the eight chapters of the book tackles a specific area of concern in structural concrete. The text first deals with the serviceability and safety, and then proceeds to the properties of materials and mix designs. The next two chapters cover reinforced concrete beams and slabs. Chapter 5 discusses column and walls, while Chapter 6 tackles reinforced concrete frames and continuous beams and slabs. The next chapter discusses design structures, while the last chapter covers prestressed concrete. The text will be of great use to undergraduate students of civil and structural engineering. Professionals whose work involves concrete technology will also find the book useful.
Book Synopsis Design and Construction of Concrete Floors by : George Garber
Download or read book Design and Construction of Concrete Floors written by George Garber and published by . This book was released on 1991-02-18 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guide to the construction and design of concrete floors covers both British and American standards. In a logical sequence, the author considers classification of floors by usage before dealing with design, construction and floor finishes. Useful as an ideal first book for designers working on floor projects, the text also stresses the need to design floors according to the owner's specific requirements. A comprehensive glossary and detailed appendices are also included.
Book Synopsis Materials and Construction by : James a Pratt
Download or read book Materials and Construction written by James a Pratt and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-06-24 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Materials and Construction: A Text-Book of Elementary Structural Design The formulas given for solution of problems coming under reinforced concrete are taken for the most part from Concretel by Edward Godfrey, M. Am. Soc. C. E. These formulas were first presented by Mr. Godfrey in Engineering News, being quite thoroughly discussed, both favorably and otherwise, all of which discussion appears in the book mentioned. The formulas are notable for their simplicity; at the same time they point onto a definite result to be obtained which is an important factor for the beginner. The author has compared the formulas presented, with others of much more complicated arrangement and the differ ence in results is comparatively small. In dealing with this material we must keep in mind the fact that work is being done in an element which does not lend itself to refined calculations, and for which we have at best only very unsatisfactory formulas, if results obtained by their use are expected to check up with experiment. Paper No. 12502 by Gaetano Lanza, M. Am. Soc. M. E., is interesting and should be carefully read by teachers handling this subject with classes. Throughout the work the principles should be brought out by the teacher, in the solution of problems before the class. Book Synopsis Limit State Design of Concrete Structures by : Ramchandra
Download or read book Limit State Design of Concrete Structures written by Ramchandra and published by Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2018-10-01 with total page 1090 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bureau of Indian Standards, Delhi made large number of changes and alterations in IS: 456-2000, Code of Practice for Plain and Reinforced concrete. Realizing the necessity and importance, authors have updated the complete text and presented this subject "Limit State Design of Concrete Structures". Ultimate Limit State (ULS- conditions to be avoided) and serviceability Limit State (SLS- limits undesirable cracks and deflections) are two main essential elements of this subject. ULS includes `Limit State of Collapse in compression, in flexure, in shear and in torsion as sub elements. Whereas, SLS includes Limit State of Serviceability for deflections, cracking, fatigue, durability and vibrations as sub-elements. Features: (i) Text for life of concrete structures, fire resistance and corrosion. (ii) For all those, who carry-out their design using computer-programme, authors have given procedures (developed by them) for determining the stress in Hysd-steel bars corresponding to strain developed in concrete.
