This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis The Comparative Reception of Relativity by : T.F Glick
Download or read book The Comparative Reception of Relativity written by T.F Glick and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume grew out of a double session of the Boston Collo quium for the Philosophy of Science held in Boston on March 25, 1983. The papers presented there (by Biezunski, Glick, Goldberg, and Judith Goodstein!) offered both sufficient comparability to establish regulari ties in the reception of relativity and Einstein's impact in France, Spain, the United States and Italy, and sufficient contrast to suggest the salience of national inflections in the process. The interaction among the participants and the added perspectives offered by members of the audience suggested the interest of commissioning articles for a more inclusive volume which would cover as many national cases as we could muster. Only general guidelines were given to the authors: to treat the special or general theories, or both, hopefully in a multidisciplinary setting, to examine the popular reception of relativity, or Einstein's personal impact, or to survey all these topics. In a previous volume, on the 2 comparative reception of Darwinism, one of us devised a detailed set of guidelines which in general were not followed. In our opinion, the studies in this collection offer greater comparability, no doubt because relativity by its nature and its complexity offers a sharper, more easily bounded target. As in the Darwinism volume, this book concludes with an essay intended to draw together in comparative perspective some of many themes addressed by the participants.

Book Synopsis Memorias Del Sanatorio by : Héctor Vallés
Download or read book Memorias Del Sanatorio written by Héctor Vallés and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2005-09-15 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story that unfolds in Memorias del Sanatorio has its beginnings in the mental vortex that engulfs Arnaldo Morales after the suicide of his father. There is no possible resurrection after that fact, and our main character is hospitalized in a quirky mental sanatorioum in Spain, where the sons and daughters of well to do in Latin American families, as well as of the Spanish bourgeois, are hospitalized with the hope of some miraculous cure of their mental illness from which they will continue to suffer in the clinic, year after year, in the hallways and the rooms of the Esquerdo The characters that inhabit these halls of the asylum are markedly interesting in their contorted psychologies, in their delusional systems, in the inventions of the imaginations that lead them somewhere that they do not remotely expect: the end of their shadows past the gray walls, the corridors they follow going nowhere through the center of the despair of their schizophrenias: the end of their delusions that do not provide with a way out. The writer has gotten his material for the novel from his own experience as he walked these corridors, and the streets that appear in the narrative; and of course from the experience of mental illness. One more important aspect of the narrative: The narrator find himself in the streets of Miami Beach throughout the novel, from where he recollects the thirty years past when the remembrances from the sanatorium took place. The world is going to end, like it happens in the end of every millennium, and a new imperator comes to MB to witnesses the executions of the insane.

Book Synopsis Realistic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics by : Emilio Santos Corchero
Download or read book Realistic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics written by Emilio Santos Corchero and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2022-02-02 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to Einstein “a physical theory should offer a picture of reality”. This made him frustrated and dissatisfied with the standard interpretation (or lack thereof) of quantum theory, since attempts to get a “picture” from it soon led to contradictions like the wave-particle duality. This book provides such a picture of the quantum world, that is, a “realistic interpretation”. Of course, this needs to be done in a way that is compatible with today’s experimental evidence, including the experiments that seem to contradict (local) realism. The book also offers a personal view on the meaning of general relativity and its relation with quantum mechanics, proposing a new perspective for dark energy, dark matter and stellar collapse. It is the result and a summary of the author’s extensive research on the foundations of quantum mechanics, spanning more than 50 years.

Book Synopsis Sobre la teoria de la relatividad by : Albert Einstein
Download or read book Sobre la teoria de la relatividad written by Albert Einstein and published by Neisa. This book was released on 2024-04-11 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Trafficking Knowledge in Early Twentieth-century Spain by : Alison Sinclair
Download or read book Trafficking Knowledge in Early Twentieth-century Spain written by Alison Sinclair and published by Tamesis Books. This book was released on 2009 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This study provides a mapping of diversity of cultural importations made by Spain, and of the divers cultural imaginaries that were prominent through the early decades of the 20th century, both in relation to Europe, and to Spain's own interior. In all cases, net-working and informal contacts provided the conduits of exchange, and enlivened and personalized the nature of trafficking." "Three features make it original in its approach. It focuses on a broad range of institutions, including publishing houses and journals, as "centres of exchange", and looks at how they promoted and facilitated Spain's contact with Europe. Secondly it foregrounds the idea of "cultural imaginaries" as the driving force behind Spain's exchanges with Europe. Thirdly, it departs from a Franco/German-centred concept of Europe, paying particular attention to a Europe of the margins, in the form of England and Russia, two countries that held particular attractions for the Spanish mind. While being centred on Madrid for its case-studies, it also pays specific attention to issues of internal dissemination." --Book Jacket.
