This book was released on 2004-03 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2018-03-06 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Google v. Spain, the Court of Justice of the European Union extended the fundamental right for privacy protection, concluding that search companies, in some circumstances, could be required to remove links to private facts. The decision provoked widespread discussion but one of the key voices was often not present. "The Right to be Forgotten on the Internet: Google v. Spain," authored by the former Spanish Data Protection Commissioner and now available in English for the first time, charts the history of the case and describes the key arguments underlying this landmark decision. Artemi Rallo details the earlier disputes before the Spanish Data Protection Agency, the Google v. Spain decision itself, European scholarship and related legislation, as well as significant precedents from European, American, and international courts. Rallo, who is also a Constitutional law professor, provides a thoughtful, detailed account of one of the most significant privacy cases of the modern age.
Book Synopsis Internet Diplomacy by : Meryem Marzouki
Download or read book Internet Diplomacy written by Meryem Marzouki and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-06-06 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The governance of the internet has gained a central role in global politics. International cooperation is increasingly mobilized to ensure that the expansion of connectivity infrastructure, digital services and their usages also safeguards security, human rights, and economic benefits. The field is truly transnational, including a vibrant stakeholder community that plays an active role in building sustainable ‘digital sovereignty’. Over the past decade, novel diplomatic practices have been adopted in negotiating technical standards, norms, regulations, and policies in the intersection of national and global priorities. This book defines this novel tool for diplomatic dialogue as Internet Diplomacy, a concept that entails the broad range of emerging international practices clustered around digital environments, including cybersecurity and internet governance. In broadening our view of diplomacy in the digital age, the book includes a comprehensive collection of contributions and cases addressing Internet Diplomacy. Collectively, it expands our understanding of transformations in international diplomacy and transnational digital governance, their drivers and their nature, their capacity to challenge power relations, and, ultimately, the values they carry and channel onto the global scene.

This book was released on 2004 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents pioneering research that is designed to show, from a qualitative and ethnographic perspective, how new information and communication technologies, as applied to the school system and to local governance initiatives, merely reproduce traditional pedagogical approaches and the dominant forms by which power is exercised at the local level. The studies thus constitute points of departure for further thinking about the need to promote an Internet culture based on the social application of a OC right to communication and cultureOCO and an OC Internet right, OCO that will permit the establishment of true citizen participation and free access to knowledge, with due regard to personal and individual rights such as those of privacy and intimacy."

Book Synopsis Cross-Border Infringement of Personality Rights via the Internet by : Symeon C. Symeonides
Download or read book Cross-Border Infringement of Personality Rights via the Internet written by Symeon C. Symeonides and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-01-11 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conflicts of laws arising from injuries to rights of personality—such as defamation or invasion of privacy—have always been difficult, if only because they implicate conflicting societal values about the rights of freedom of speech and access to information, on the one hand, and protection of reputation and privacy, on the other hand. The ubiquity of the internet has dramatically increased the frequency and intensity of these conflicts. This book explores the ways in which various Western countries have addressed these conflicts, but also advances new, practical ideas about how these conflicts should be resolved. These ideas are part of an international model law unanimously adopted by a Resolution of the Institut de droit international, which addresses jurisdiction, choice of law, and recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments. The book provides extensive article-by-article commentary, which explains the philosophy and intended operation of the Resolution.

Book Synopsis Internet and Smartphone Use-Related Addiction Health Problems by : Olatz Lopez-Fernandez
Download or read book Internet and Smartphone Use-Related Addiction Health Problems written by Olatz Lopez-Fernandez and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-08-31 with total page 614 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Special Issue presents some of the main emerging research on technological topics of health and education approaches to Internet use-related problems, before and during the beginning of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The objective is to provide an overview to facilitate a comprehensive and practical approach to these new trends to promote research, interventions, education, and prevention. It contains 40 papers, four reviews and thirty-five empirical papers and an editorial introducing everything in a rapid review format. Overall, the empirical ones are of a relational type, associating specific behavioral addictive problems with individual factors, and a few with contextual factors, generally in adult populations. Many have adapted scales to measure these problems, and a few cover experiments and mixed methods studies. The reviews tend to be about the concepts and measures of these problems, intervention options, and prevention. In summary, it seems that these are a global culture trend impacting health and educational domains. Internet use-related addiction problems have emerged in almost all societies, and strategies to cope with them are under development to offer solutions to these contemporary challenges, especially during the pandemic situation that has highlighted the global health problems that we have, and how to holistically tackle them.

Book Synopsis Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and other Alternative License Models by : Axel Metzger
Download or read book Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and other Alternative License Models written by Axel Metzger and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-30 with total page 505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the main legal questions raised by free and open source software (FOSS) licenses and other alternative license models, such as Creative Commons. The legal questions raised by FOSS and other alternative licenses have been the subject of an intense international debate among legal scholars and practising lawyers in the last years. Courts in different jurisdictions have confirmed that the core features of FOSS licenses are compliant with the respective applicable laws and thus enforceable in the respective jurisdictions. What is still missing so far is an in-depth comparative analysis of the legal issues raised by FOSS, Creative Commons and other alternative license on a worldwide scale. This book presents a general report on FOSS licenses and alternative license models to establish common ground and enable comparison between jurisdictions. The general report is followed by 24 national reports covering the world's most important IT-markets. General and national reports use the same structure to facilitate the comparison. The book shows that despite the differences in their origins, all FOSS projects use detailed licenses for the organisation of their communities. It also shows the differences in the proofing of these licenses by courts in some jurisdictions and the tailor-made provisions established by some legislators to solve the legal issues raised by the license model.
Book Synopsis EU Internet Law in the Digital Single Market by : Tatiana-Eleni Synodinou
Download or read book EU Internet Law in the Digital Single Market written by Tatiana-Eleni Synodinou and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-06-25 with total page 646 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the ongoing evolution of the digital society challenging the boundaries of the law, new questions are arising – and new answers being given – even now, almost three decades on from the digital revolution. Written by a panel of legal specialists and edited by experts on EU Internet law, this book provides an overview of the most recent developments affecting the European Internet legal framework, specifically focusing on four current debates. Firstly, it discusses the changes in online copyright law, especially after the enactment of the new directive on the single digital market. Secondly, it analyzes the increasing significance of artificial intelligence in our daily life. The book then addresses emerging issues in EU digital law, exploring out of the box approaches in Internet law. It also presents the last cyber-criminality law trends (offenses, international instrument, behaviors), and discusses the evolution of personal data protection. Lastly, it evaluates the degree of consumer and corporate protection in the digital environment, demonstrating that now, more than ever, EU Internet law is based on a combination of copyright, civil, administrative, criminal, commercial and banking laws.
